The Ferengi episode of ST Enterprise…

Watched the thoroughly unsatisfying Ferengi episode of ST-Ent last night, and was underwhelmed by Capt. Quantum’s response to the Ferengi raiding party at the end of the episode, I mean the gutless Teraq’nan simply let them leave with nothing more than a stern lecture! What a wuss!

I mean he didn’t even take out their weapons array or warp core, forcing them to limp home on impulse, I mean the Ferengi attacked the federation flagship, I would have seen that as, if not a declaration of war,at least a declaration of open hostilities between the federation and wherever the Ferengi hail from…

If I was Capt. of NX-01, here’s how I would have ended it;

Let the Ferengi ship undock, and once clear of the blast radius, fire a spread of torpedoes, destroying the ship, if the ptaq’s didn’t want to end up all 'splodey, they shouldn’t have attempted to raid the Enterprise

…then again, I do have a very …Klingon mindset when it comes to starship command, that or the Terran Empire from the mirror universe

Alternatively, put the Ferengi raiding party in an escape pod, and lock their course back to Ferengiville homeworld, then use the grappler to tow my brandy-new Ferengi Maurauder back to Earth as a prize, let the Fed. Engineers reverse engineer it to see if the Ferengi have any useful tech, or use it for target practice

Yeah, I kinda think the same way.

Which is why the ST RPG group I was in years ago booted me; I wasn’t “Federation” enough.

Was it your lack of Shakespeare quoting during casual conversation, or was it the “why can’t we just use the transporter to…” questions?

Holy Continuity, the Ferengi were a new mysterious race at the beginning of TNG!

Hey, if you aren’t “Federation” enough, join the Maqui!

There’s been worse. At least Archer presumably took the stolen stuff back. In Voyager, Janeway let organ thieves get away with a warning, with the organs stolen from a member of her crew.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too.

I didn’t read the thread title very closely, and assumed that it was about the TNG episode. In Enterprise were they all fur-clad and wielding lazer whips?

Well, to be fair, she did offer to self-destruct.
