The First Annual Mike Tomlin Marches the Steelers to the Super Bowl Thread

Can someone do me a favor and cockpunch Anthony Smith?

How does a second year backup player get the stones to publicly guarantee that the Steelers will beat the Patriots? Jesus Christ, why would you fire up the best team in football? Even as a Steelers fan I’m not blind to reality. Apparently he is.

Now the Steelers have to win. No pressure or anything.

Dumbass.

LOL. I liked the one Patriot’s reply, something like: Never heard of him.

I don’t understand this “guarantee.” What happens if the team doesn’t win? Do we get our money back?

Yeah, with this guarantee, now the Steelers have to win. Against the team that has issued a crusade against all naysayers. So the chances of this guarantee are now somewhere around 0%.

I predict that whoever Smith is covering will score 3 touchdowns.

Well well well. A guaranteed win. I was inclined to pick the Steelers over the Pats in a close one, but now I’m not so sure. What a maroon.

10 minutes and it’s on. Nobody, not even the Steelers’ radio announcers, think that they can win. We shall see.

I’m having people over for the game, so I won’t be posting during…

GO STEELERS!

The El Paso CBS affiliate switched from the Denver game to the Pittsburgh game. Normally I’m not happy when they don’t show the Broncos, but this week I’m very glad they’ve made the switch.

3-0 Pittsburgh. The first points scored on an opening drive against New England this year. Good start.

By the way, I would like to go on record as saying that Pittsburgh’s special teams suck a dick. Christ almighty. 39 yards? That’s not even exceptional this year against Pittsburgh, merely average. If they could actually stop kick returns they might be undefeated this year.

So, does anybody think that Anthony Smith did an intelligent thing by talking smack this week? After the touchdown Brady went right up to him and told him what was what. Wonderful.

7-3 Pats.

Tom Brady is a classless, whiny little pussy. I want to see his arms and head fling backwards as Smith comes in from his blindside.

One would think the greatest quarterback in history wouldn’t need to say anything to an opposing team’s backup D back.

Wow! Did you see that?!?

:: whistles ::

One would think a no-name D back who’s only starting because of an injury to a better player wouldn’t need to guarantee a win against an undefeated team.

One might also think that said no-name D back should perhaps be responsible for the deep ball on play action.

Fine. We’ll just agree that Tom Brady and Anthony Smith are equally classless assholes. What’s in that deal for Brady?

Well, we’ll agree on Smith. It’s hard for me to blame someone - even Tom Brady - for responding to somebody who’s spouting off bullshit.

Yeah, right. That’s exceedingly lame. Sure, Tom Brady took some no name d-back’s comment personally. Why? Does he lack confidence? Is he that insecure? Or is he constantly whining to refs, his linemen, other players like a little puss?

It’s been a heck of a first half, hasn’t it? We found a new way to screw up on special teams and still survived. I’m not foolish enough to guarantee a win, but at least we’re giving them a run (and a couple of passes) for their money. I refuse to call it either way, but I’m still rooting for the good old black and gold.

Go Steelers!

Well, the difference between the onset of a stunning upset and what we have now, which is merely a close game, is that gravy touchdown to Moss given by none other than Anthony Smith. Schadenfreude, karma, call it what you will.

I think the Steelers have a real good shot. They keep responding. Sooner or later the Golden Boy Brady will throw a bad pass, and Pittsburgh will be there to cash it in. Maybe it will be a fumble. Or maybe it will be some sort of blown coverage. Who knows? But what I do know is that New England looks mortal, and while Pittsburgh does as well they’ve demonstrated that they can come back and recover from their mistakes. Who knows what the Patsies will do.

I thought we had a shot today. I started Ben Rothlisberger instead of Tom Brady. Clearly I was wrong. Our special teams are still too awful, and our line is still bad.

When they can even turn a bad pass into a TD-scoring flea flicker, you know the Patriots offense is really good.
