And our season is over.
GAH!!!
He could have run it in, he was completely in the clear, but he threw it. Why? Only he knows, and I’m not sure if he knows either.
Anyway, that’s the season. No defending the Lombardi Trophy this year unless God himself reaches down and wills it.
Quite the opposite my friend. They will continue to piss away what should be even the easiest games.
Let’s look at our schedule:
Broncos
Saints
Buccaneers
Panthers
Browns x 2
Ravens x 2
Bengals
This game against the Raiders was the closest thing to a gimme we were going to have the whole rest of the year. At this point, do you honestly think we even have what it takes to beat the Browns?
Coming into this game I was hopeful of turning things around and possibly going 10-6 and possibly edging out the division. After what I’ve witnessed today, we’re staring a 4-12 record in the face.
I wanna see what Cowher has to say after this game, to see if he will, as usual, dance around the real issues we have.
I think that this thread deserves a link to this one.
Another painful game. Another game where we could say “If we subtract out the mistakes, we would have won.”
Unfortunately that is a phrase that losers make. Winners never have to say “if we subtract out the errors…”
At least Holmes held onto the ball this week.
I thought all along that Batch should have started. I dunno if Ben is playing poorly because of his injuries, but I would like him to have time to heal.
Absolutely. How in heaven’s name do you lose a game where you hold the ENTIRE FRICKIN’ OFFENSE of the opposing team to under a 100 yards?!?
They did it a few years ago - 2002? to the texans, IIRC. The Texans had under 50 yards total offense, and beat the Steelers.
Good stuff.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!i
Sad to watch Jerome omment on Pitt’s loss.
(heh-heh-heh)
Absolutely right. It’s an eerily similar game, anyhow, down to the interceptions by the QB.
At least in that season the Steelers made the post-season.
Heh… Who could have known back then that the Bears were a LOCK for an undefeated season capped by a superbowl shutout?
…also funny that I post this when the Bears are due to host the evil awful disgusting dirty rotten Dolphins.
Why is Santonio Holmes still on our kick return team?
WHY IS SANTONIO HOLMES STILL RETURNING THE FUCKING KICKS!?
This is the worst season I’ve ever witnessed.
I think I’m officially pulling out of this thread.
So that, if he winds up becoming a big superstar years later, the people writing his life story will have a dramatic "But his introduction to the NFL was anything but smooth … " chapter to play up.
This is the strangest season I’ve ever known. The Steelers are still dominating on defense, and if you look at most of the games they’re dominant on offense, but they are dying on turnovers and stupid plays. Altogether they’ve lost all of their games by like 30 points total. It’s like they’re playing in the frigging Twilight Zone. It’s simply surreal. This game is but a microcosm of the season. It’s perfectly evident, yet completely inexplicable, why the Steelers are losing. All you can do as a devoted Steelers fan is scratch your head, shrug your shoulders, and wonder where it all went wrong so quickly.
11 down with 4 minutes to go.
It’s over. And so is the season. Such is life. You can’t win them all. I was fortunate to see my team win the big one last year, it’s someone else’s turn this year. Nevertheless, I will, as I have done for my entire life, remain faithful to my doormats, er, Steelers.
How did this happen? 2-6, and the difference between that and 8-0 is fewer points than they beat Kansas City by a few weeks ago. It’s perplexing, but any given Sunday and all that stuff, I guess.
Holmes has fumbled away our season. Why have they allowed him to be on special teams this long? Bench that sumbitch.
Once again, if you subtract out the mistakes, we would not have lost. Once again I must note that you can’t subtract out the mistakes.
I guess there is always next year.
