The First Annual Steelers Defend The Lombardi Trophy Thread

F’n Porter ruined the spread (I had Pitt outright, but Miami against the spread).

I had to work tonight, but it’s never too late to laugh at the Eagles. So, without any further ado, here I go:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Even Mama Cass didn’t choke that badly! The G-Men, that sad sack of football futility, came back and took your heart. If I were Andy Reid I would have gone silently into the locker room, gone into my office, poured a beer for myself, and cried in it.

Ahem. Enough of that, at least for this week. Anyway, tomorrow is Pittsburgh’s turn in the barrel, and there is a very good possibility that they will get crushed by the Jags. Of course, it could go the other way as well. We’ll find out tomorrow.

Aaaaaaaaaand done.

Cincy next week. Hopefully we won’t go into the bye week 1-2.

Somebody screwed up in the control room right at the end, as evidenced by this template graphic that was thrown on the screen:

“NFL Generic
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG”

Of course, maybe it was a clever statement on the game. I think I would have shouted “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG” if I had sat through a game that ended 9-0.

Well, it was a hard fought game. Ben did well for someone coming off surgery and being sick. But the Jags played hard and deserve the win.

Hopefully Ben will have a better week next week!

I was playing pool at a sports bar and only saw bits and pieces of this game. But every time I looked up at the screen some Steeler was getting levelled by a very hard Jaguar hit. Except the time I looked up and got a graphic dissection of Ben’s bowel. Thanks, ESPN!

Even more bizarre than the graphic – what the hell is that “music” they’re playing over it?

Maybe the person died will typing it…

Now my coworkers are staring at me…

I don’t think Big Ben and Cowers did you guys any favors by having Ben play last week. He looked slow. Way too soon to have played, imho.
I would like to see the trash talking Nasties get smacked down this week, so do something Sunday, okay? seriously, I like the Pitt D on this one. Should set the tone for the season, I think.

What the fuck Ben? You’re playing like Kordell.

You’ve been through a lot of shit over the past 4 months, and you are nowhere near as strong as you used to be. Please stop trying to play like you are.

HEY! Dem’s fightin’ words!
:stuck_out_tongue:

HEY! It breaks my heart to say it. And I know he’ll rebound, but he’s gotta play more conservatively til he’s back at full strength.

Ok, Cincy, if you can’t win this game you guys really suck, cuz with the exception of our defense, we are doing everything in our power to hand you this game.

Breaking my fucking heart you guys.

Wooo-hooooo!

I have an ulcer.

Jesus.

And that last play really summed up the game:

-Ben was atrocious. For everything he did right he countered it with an awful decision. Luckily he has 2 weeks of solid practicing to try to get back to his former self.

-I feel really bad about our defense. They played MUCH better than that 28 on the scoreboard would imply. It’s not their fault they got backed into the red zone twice in less than two minutes.

-Far far far FAR too many mistakes. Taunting penalty? Christ, you can’t go doing shit like that at the end of the game.

Luckily it’s still the beginning of the season, and now we have 2 whole weeks to tighten up. Unfortunately, our division contains the Division Champion Bengals, and a revamped Ravens team.

11 wins won’t cut it in the North this year.

That should be, “I feel bad FOR our defense.” I feel bad FOR them, not about them. They played just fine for the most part.
