The First Annual Steelers Defend The Lombardi Trophy Thread

The Steelers defense was awesome. I wonder how Palmer likes the taste of all that grass, thanks to our pathetic offensive line.

We eeked out a victory, but we’re really beat up right now.

Well we lost that game pure and simple. We have no excuse. The bengals didn’t win, we lost. :frowning:

Well, we’ll see how we do in two weeks.

8-1 in my 1:00 picks.

Stupid Steelers.

Dear god, that was nauseating. What the fuck?

I’m sorta glad that I was away this weekend, because from what I’ve seen of the highlights I would have been throwing shit and fighting mad.

As it is I’m more than a bit torqued off.

Despite being a Ravens fan, i’m not a Steelers hater. There’s too many appealing and talented players on the team, guys like Hines Ward. I also had a lot of time for Jerome Bettis.

But it is good seeing Joey Porter lose. Especially when he spent half the warm-up period on the field today mugging for the cameras and calling the Bengals players “garbage,” and saying “You wish you were me.” He’s a very good player, but he really is a major fucking tool.

The Ravens got away with a rather lucky win today. I think Browns fans must feel gutted right now. But it serves them right for wearing those ridiculous dog masks.

It’s the third week of the season and the Stillers are already 2 games behind in the division standings. In order to defend the Lombardi trophy they have to at least get to the playoffs. They better get on the stick or Cincy and Balto. will be out of reach. Like it would upset me if that happened.

I rarely agree with this type of excuse, but I came close today. However, seeing Henry and Housh both break away for two TDs each, I will have to say that the Bengals really did beat the Steelers this time. They played the better game.
The Ratbird’s games in November should prove to interesting. Twice for Cinci, once for Pitt. Despite how much I hate your entire division ;), I really enjoy watching the games.

Shoot me.

The Browns have talent. The first half shows that. Our offense coaches, for one half, didn’t play chickenshit football. They used our weapons. And we walked all over the mighty Ravens defense.

Second half, same old Mo. We had 200+ passing yards in the first half, just ripping up the Ravens D, and we had 9 yards in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Same bullshit “play not to lose” (which gets you a loss) football. All we had to do to win the game is SCORE A FRIGGIN FIELD GOAL AFTER PASSING ALL OVER THEIR DEFENSE ALL GAME, and instead, we said “hey, guys, we’re gonna run up the gut for some 3 and outs. Good luck beating us.”

It’s early yet. I’d hate to think that you have it wrapped up only to have McNair go down with his inevitable major injury. Watching you deflate might be worth it, though.

Yea, the second half had nothing to do with the Ravens D stepping it up a notch at all. I tell you, it was a thing of beauty watching that 52 yard FG sail through the uprights, and seeing 68,000 Cleveland crybabies deflate and start sobbing.

I know my team well enough, unfortunately, to see that the coaching was our downfall. Your defense did play well in the second half, I agree - but we shot ourselves in the foot with playcalling as we always do. If I can get a recording of the game this week, I can break it down for you to demonstrate if you want.

If we’d have played the second half the same way we played the first, we’d win. A good coach, or at least OC, would’ve won that game. We imploded more than crackmore imposing their will on us.

Well, it’s time to bump this thread following the bye week. The Steelers started out rough offensively, but it looks like Big Ben is actually starting to return to form. Finally. Now all they have to do is get Willie Parker going and play their usual stellar defense and the game is in the bag.

While I’m here, though, I would like to bitch about all announcers at all Steelers games: yes, we are aware that Chris Gardocki has never had a punt blocked. You dn’t have to say that EVERY SINGLE TIME he kicks the ball. I almost hope he does get blocked so they can’t say it anymore. Man, does that get on my last nerve.

Anyway, back to the game. This is the game that will put Pittsburgh back on track to what is rightfully theirs.

I took the @#$% trash out and missed the damn touchdown. Of course, this often seems to be the pattern. My teams usually do better when I’m *not *watching.

Yeah, and guess who it was. That’s right, it was Willie Parker. Right after I said he needed to get on track.

I think he heard me.

All I know is that Bill Parcells needs to consider replacing Drew Bledsoe with Tony Romo. The Cowboys-Eagles game was painful to watch for that reason.

I think I’m gonna have to burn my jersey.

Robin

That was a sick catch. I hope they give it to him.

I think it was a good call anyway, but does that mean they aren’t going to be able to review any more plays for the rest of the game?

Quickly becoming the pattern for us.

I’m not sure, but I’m thinking that that flea flicker was a pretty bad idea.
