Well this game is essentially our season. Looking at the schedule, there are some opponents that should be gimmes, but it definitely doesn’t get any easier.
Ben’s stats: 0 touchdowns, 7 interceptions
There’s absolutely no substitute for training camp and preseason experience, and it will cost us our season.
Yeah, it’s pretty bad. A return to the Big Game is not promising, and is in fact highly unlikely. Oh well. I’m still a die hard fan no matter what, and optimism dies hard. I’m not giving up hope, just facing reality.
The Big Game? The playoff hunt is looking bleak at this point my friend, and I’m as die-hard a Steelers fan as they come. Unfortunately, like you, I am also a realist, and it simply ain’t gonna happen for us this year.
Plenty of room on the Bears bandwagon folks. Get yourself a Grossman jersey and hang on tight.
It is to laugh. Weren’t you guys trying to chase him out of town in the preseason? You can hop on the Grossman bandwagon if you like with the rest of the fairweather fans. I’ll stick with my beloved Steelers come hell or high water.
Did you see the Bears game last week? There were some people in the crowd holding up a sign saying “Rex: Sorry about all the bad things we said.”
I ended up with Trent Green as the starting QB in my fantasy league. When he went down with concussion in the first week, i was frantically looking around for a replacement, and there was Grossman sitting on the Free Agent list. I grabbed him, and he proceeded to have a career-best game the following week, and has won a couple of games for me since then. Today he went 15-27 with 187 yards, 2 TDs and no interceptions.
I don’t have much of an opinion one way or another about the Bears, but i hope Grossman’s form holds up for the season.
You clearly haven’t been following along. See my comments here. In the preseason I was concerned but I never suggested they sit him in favor of Greise. I’ve long been teased for my faith in him 'round these parts. Nothing fair-weather about Bears fans thats for damn sure. We just have a healthy amount of pessimism about the QB position.
Hope you’re prepared for plenty of both.
I’m a Buccaneers fan and I still see more hope in my team’s future than yours…
Well, isn’t that something. If you had Grossman’s back from the beginning you might be the only one. Even the pundits were calling for his head.
The stories of Grossman’s demise were greatly exaggerated. As are the stories of his sudden ascent to superstardom.
He’s playing very well, considering he’s basically a first-year starter. Don’t expect it to continue forever. Until now, opponents were gameplanning to stop Thomas Jones- witness his rather mediocre performances this year, compared to the last two seasons. As defenses shift into coverage, rather than playing eight-in-the-box, Grossman’s stats and winning percentage will decline, sharpish.
He will be a good NFL quarterback. He won’t be the MVP that the talking heads are suddenly anointing him.
The only thing going well this NFL season is that the steelers suck. It’s the only comfort I have.
I was really hoping it’d be the Ravens, though. Worst 4-0 team ever. Combination of luck, bad opponents, Schottenheimer, and opposing defenses being too afaid of getting STDs from tackling them. Denver will show them up tomorrow, at least. I predict a 9-7, 10-6 season and if the playoffs are made, losing in the wild card round.
Well that puts an end to that myth. We were winning when I went to bed. What happened? I woke up sometime after 11 and we were losing.
Well, we need to get on track.
Are you guys watching this? Is this the same team? It is 21 nothing already and we still got like 10 minutes to play in the first half!
Go Steelers!
28 to nothing. Am I the only one watching this?
I was trying not to post in this thread during the games anymore. Oh well.
Yes, amazing game, but I’m having trouble not being pissed off right now because CBS cut away from the game when the Chiefs were in the red zone down 38 - 7 (I’m guessing they didn’t get in since it’s now 45 - 7).
Just fucking cover the game you start with to conclusion! It’s not like the Jets vs. Dolphins is a better game. FUCK!
We saw the whole game here.
Wow. If they can sustain this the rest of the season will be fun!
Hasn’t Willie Parker proven he can run at the goal line now? I thought since Bettis was gone he was gonna get more TDs… Davenport is gonna kill my fantasy team.
(also… the steelers only won due to… hacking. They had aimbots.)
I saw every minute of it at work. The Steelers are now officially off the schnide. They took the 4th ranked defense in the NFL and beat them nearly to death. Combine that with the Ratbirds’ second consecutive loss (and Air McNair’s injury, which I called early on) and Cincinatti’s loss to the Panthers and Pittsburgh is right back in it. If they play like this the rest of the way out it’s gonna be one hell of a wild season.
The Xth ranked (by yards) defense stuff is often worthless. I haven’t watched them much this year, but I have a hard time believing Kansas City is anything but a bottom third D. Has one year changed them around that much?
