It’s become something of a tradition for Mark Hamill to guest right around this time of year. Very conveniently the week before a new Star Wars movie comes out, too. I rather wish they had stuck around on Earth-3 as it seemed to have the same Art Deco aesthetic as Earth-2. I wanna see more of that. I also wanted to see more of Trickster-3’s wacky hijinks, as the rest of the episode was rather dark, especially for a Christmas episode.
Over on Arrow they teased us for months about who was going to be buried. Here they just come right out and show us that Savitar is going to kill Iris. Sheesh. Jay Garrick is right: you really shouldn’t know too much about the future.
I’m slowly coming around to the notion that HR is Abracadabra. I usually don’t mind his demeanour, but his jovial affect was especially annoying this time. Dude needs to switch to decaf.
Is Julie Greer anyone of significance in the comics? All my searches just point back to this show.
I’m glad someone finally got it through Joe’s head that Wally was going to be a hero, whether he allowed it or not, and it’s best for him to be trained (whatever you think about HR, he’s right that Wally really should be trained).
Well, last season the Trickster tried to blow up Patty Spivot with explosive dreidels and then disguised himself as Santa to distribute explosive presents to children, so I’m sure whatever Trickster-3 did was equally wacky.
I agree that Trickster-3 is probably the closest we’ll come to seeing Mark Hamill play a live-action Joker.
Yeah, Joe and Iris trying to stop Wally from speeding off was getting really annoying.
There were like 4 big clues in favor of the Harrison Kadabra theory
Savitar calling him a “Fake” Harrison. Not an alternate Harrison.
Some line when Joe confronts HR about helping Wally behind Joe’s back; (paraphrased) “You’ve got a pathological need to be liked”/"…well maybe not “pathological”) Which is Kadabra’s whole MO
There was something about Wells going home that implied the future, not E19
I don’t remember the 4th one.
I liked the episode but it felt rushed–could have easily been a two-parter.
All the characters were apparently too preoccupied to notice how Savitar speaking through Julian referred to HR as “Fake Wells,” but someone will remember this later.
Really damned cool to see Hamill (as the Trickster) going up against John Wesley Shipp (as Flash) again. I love that they keep bringing in actors from the original series.
Savitar is going to be a far future Barry Allen right? He gets bitter and angry from Iris dying and becomes a villain and his present self removes Savitar from the timeline by saving Iris.
Anyone else notice that when Barry was sent to the future, he found himself on Infantino Street? Carmine Infantino was the Silver Age artist who redesigned the Flash’s outfit in the 1950’s, getting rid of the Mercury look for the more streamlined cowled costume.
What’s better is that Infantino street has shown up before–it’s a recurring location, which is cool. And he’s been at the corner of Infantino and Broome at least once and Infantino and Fox once or twice.
I started reading this thread and thought for a few posts I must somehow be a week behind you guys. Never occurred to me that was Hamill.
I’m not so much glad they’re letting Wally be a hero, but that they’re moving along his plot arc. It isn’t the Flash & Kid Flash show though, so something’s got to happen. Either he dies, loses his power, takes off for an alternate Earth, joins a different show, or gets his own show.
I still don’t like Jay being from Earth 3. That’s supposed to be the evil Earth…
And I really don’t like Savitar looking like a Bayformer. I don’t even like Megatron. et al, looking like Bayformers, but a comic book supervillain? Yuck.
