The Scarlet Speedster returns from spring hiatus tonight. Barry has another harebrained scheme to time travel again, this time into the future, to find out what exactly is going to happen to Iris and who Savitar really is. But we already know who he is, don’t we? He’s the future Flash.
Frakken CW with the teasing us about Savitar’s identity. I’m now expecting that we won’t find out who Savitar is until the season finale or possibly at the very end of the penultimate episode. My prediction: future emo-Barry doesn’t know who Savitar is because he still hasn’t turned into him. Emo-Barry bitter and alone turns into Savitar in the further future. He goes back in time to teach his past self a lesson (or something stupid like that). But because of past/present Barry’s actions here, the timeline will(has) change(d). Emo-Barry becomes not so emo anymore and Savitar’s (the future Flash) outlook changes for the better.
I like the future Flash suit. It’s a brighter red - more scarlet, if you will. Plus the gold belt and gold lightning-bolt accents around the forearms and lower legs. Much closer to the comic book version. Now when is he getting yellow boots?
I love this show. It’s my favorite DC hero CW show (and that’s all I watch on CW). But still…
- Emo-Barry’s emo haircut/wig was roflmao stereotypically dumb looking (at least he still shaves). Mrs. D_Odds and I were making fun about how it would probably appeal to our daughter, if she watched. Just needed a little more hair to fully cover one of the eyes.
- It was bad enough Flash let The Top get the drop on him the first time. The second time The Flash lets them get the drop on him, he deserves to lose badly. Hey, Fastest Man Alive, put her in a blindfold and separate the two. Let the villains monologue.
- When he went around gather HR, Julian, and Joe, would that not have technically been kidnapping?
- Because time travel always makes my head hurt, wouldn’t Future-Flash have time traveled in the past and already have known? “I know you will fail because I did the exact same thing you idjit!”
Do the magic handcuffs no longer work now that Caitlin is full-on Killer Frost?
I loved the Top effect of Inception-style building warping. She’s learned some new tricks in the future.
Remember back in Flashpoint, Barry went around assembling all the members of Team Flash in Cisco’s lab (formerly S.T.A.R. Labs), all of whom never knew Barry as the Flash in that timeline. Caitlin asked, “Have I been kidnapped?” Yes you were, Dr. Snow. Yes you were.
The magic handcuffs were turned into a necklace. It was one of the first things Killer Frost destroyed.
The Savitar fake outs have gotten annoying. They should have revealed it last night. I am still convince it’s Future Barry but having a Future Barry in this episode makes that more difficult I admit. It’s just a MORE Future Barry.
Tangent:
I am wondering if makes sense in this universe to somehow separate Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost into independent beings.
There are hints that such a thing would not be all that far outside the pale – for example, how Firestorm is the combination of two people. Another way would be to use time travel (even more!) - have a 2015 Caitlin whisked forward to keep Team Flash at full strength to help rein in Killer Frost.
Damm wildfires south of town have taken out the CW transmitter, so they’re off the air. Obviously, it’s too dangerous to get to the transmitter and get the station back on the air. So, I missed this episode, and I’m going to miss Arrow tonight, as well.
Although I’m lucky, I’m not in danger. And the people living near the fires have more immediate concerns than one TV station getting knocked off the air. In retrospect, it’s a very minor thing to bitch about, and I realize it.
I wonder if somehow Savitar is Ronnie Raymond. Who else would Kaitlyn just immediately surrender to like that?
The future her?
Thought the same thing.
You can stream them on the CW site as long as you have internet.
And broadband. Otherwise, not worth the bother.
That would make sense. But why all the nonsense about the future, Flash?
Ronnie does seem likely, but maybe it’s Zoom.
Heh. You know, it’d actually be kind of hilarious if Savitar is just, well, a liar. And so, all of that stuff about being the God of Speed? And all of that stuff about the future? Yeah, he’s – a guy who says a bunch of stuff, keeping folks asking all the wrong questions; it costs him nothing, and takes no real effort. So, why not?
(To switch comic-book universes for a moment, I’m reminded of a Marvel villain who once noted that he’d simply acted “on a moment’s whim” when he’d taken part “in a needlessly-complex battle in which I toyed with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, tossing them clues to half-formed plans of mine”, adding that said go-round had only ever been “the empty shell of conflict … in place of the real thing.”)
I think Savitar is future Julian.
That’d explain why they threw in the bit where he saved her by unleashing Frost.
And why she trusted him when she saw who it was.
Perhaps. But then does his British accent just happen to disappear when he wears the suit?
