The Fountain of Yoot. Guest MMP

I used an 9x13 casserole dish for my cake.

It worked just fine–I didn’t need to bake it for an hour, though–more like 45 minutes.

Draelin --this is my middle kid, and he tends to not ask for help (even when he should) and he likes to fly under the radar, so I glad to be able to do a little something for him–and that he called and asked me help. Plus, middle school being what it is (a precursor to hell, IMO), it’s better that he not have to walk the halls covered in pink stains.

Am putting off cutting out Halloween costume. This is not good.

He very well could be. I live directly across from a baseball field where some pretty cute baseball players come out to practice. I haven’t noticed any baseball-bears though so maybe not.

Donkeybear, if you want the butterscotch cake recipe, I can evil-ly provide even more coma-inducing dessert instructions than I have already! It’s really good too because there’re butterscotch chips in it and they all kinda end up on the bottom of the cake where they get carmelized and come out kinda chewy/crunchy and good.

I have to admit to being the one who mentioned the dark chocolate Herhey’s Kisses. I’m really really sorry! Especially if I ruined anyone’s diet! And I’m even more sorry that I bought them in the first place since I can’t stop eating them either. Did I at least make up for it by giving the cake recipe??

Bumba, you don’t need a special pan. All the stuff on the bottom of the pan kinda melts/mooshes together and it all fits just fine in the standard 13x9 pan.

No, you didn’t make up for it.

You need to come up with a recipe and a cake involving Hershey’s dark choc kisses.
And then you will levitate straight to heaven.

If one can find dark chocolate chips I bet that make the Chocolate Upside-Down Cake even nummier.

Taxi since I started the MMP this week, I believe that gives me power to grant absolution. You are hereby absolved, which is better than being disolved.

Oh and I think donkeybear is doing his poor college student hint for you to bake and send him a butterscotch cake.

Hahaha! I think **MagicEyes **has a recipe for mini Hershey’s Kisses. Hey, ME, where are you today?

This afternoon, I went around my office offering dark chocolate kisses. Of course, I kept a few for me for tomorrow but I gave away most of the bag. Ain’t I just the sweetest thing!

For those who want a crispy version of Swampy’s Eyetalian chicken…

Chicken A La Bob

I invented this one as a poor college student many years ago. There are many imitations, but they don’t hold a candle to this.

1 chicken, cut up in your favorite manner.
1/2 bottle of vinegar and oil Italian Dressing Wishbone or Kraft, DO NOT use reduced or oil free)
1 softball-sized onion, cut into thick slices
1 Tbsp garlic
1 Tbsp oregano
1 Tbsp basil
1 large squirtgun or spray bottle, full of water

Clean up and prep chicken as usual. Lay out in large flat bowl or pan and add Italian dressing. The correct amount of dressing should cover the largest pieces about halfway. Evenly distribute spices over the top of the chicken, and cover with the onion slices. Let chicke marinate at least 2, and up to 24 hours.

The best possible way to cook this is over a medium-hot charcoal fire, and the worst is in a convection oven. The oven will be the safest. If you use the charcoal fire, you will need the squirtgun, because the chicken will flare from the oil. Let it, but try to control it with the water spray. Don’t let the skin char, and broil as usual. The onion slices make a tasty treat to keep the chef happy when broiled alongside the chicken, and the use the leftover marinade to baste the chicken as it broils.

Yeah, I like garlic, but a Tbsp is too much. Hell, a tsp might be too much for you. Wing that puppy…

Well, given the way things have been going in my personal life recently, they wouldn’t necessarily have to be bears. Toned, muscular, athletic baseball players? With dark hair/blue eyes?

You’re just trying to get people hooked to them… must be a secret Hershey’s spy!!!

No, I was hinting for you to make one, and set it out in the bushes with a fork. Or I guess you could mail it to me, but then I’d have to leave your bushes, go back to my dorm room, and eat it. Of course, you could always just bring it to my room. You know you’re always invited :stuck_out_tongue:

Definitely true. When I went to look it up, I found I’d started to spell it right; coulda sworn it had two c’s in a row there somewhere. Probably they changed it on me somewhere. On the other hand, it might be that it has two k’s in German. And the 3-syllable pronunciation thing might be in German too, but I’m remembering it in English… I’m a linguistically confused person sometimes.

Puggy, it is a good book, although, scary/depressing in some places. Managed to finish it early this morning. Still pondering what I think. We’re discussing it in my book club next week. I’m thinking I might start a thread about it.

So glad the first recipe has been coughed up already. I need a dessert to take to a weenie roast on Saturday and I’m thinking that the cake might do nicely. I’m going to go for the dark chocolate cake and chips to counteract the marshmallows… I’d love the butterscotch cake recipe too, taxi, if you have it.

Sorry Popeye’s in pain, WileE. Hope he feels better very soon.

I am in the “gaining weight as I read this thread” contingent too. I think we need an MMP cookbook.

GT

Never tasted you, so I can’t anwer that one.

[Coldfire in the zit thread]
You guys are doing this to me on purpose.
[/Coldfire in the zit thread]

Well, now, one of these days we just might have to fix that. I’m still waitin’ on the pic by the way.

donkeybear if I came to your dorm room everybody would be askin’ you if yer grandpappy was payin’ a visit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dang, I knew I was leavin’ sump’n out of my last post! Bobbio I’m addin’ your grilled Eyetalian chicken to my recipes for grillin’ list. Sounds nummy.

I made oatmeal cookies with mini Hershey’s kisses. I stuffed 'em full of kisses, so they were really chocolatey. Good stuff!

Here’s the recipe–just use dark chocolate mini-kisses instead of chocolate chips (if you can find them), use about twice as much as it calls for, and stick a few extra chips on top of the cookies before you bake them. I think they taste better if you make them extra big (but big cookies do take a little longer to bake).

Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups quick oats
2 cups coconut, or 1 cup coconut and 1 cup chocolate chips

Cream together butter and sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in oats, coconut, and chocolate chips.

Drop big spoonfuls about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Don’t bake too long–they’re better if they’re a little squishy in the middle.

So, taxi, where’s the recipe for the butterscotch cake?

I’m having a really hard time deciding what to bake next. I just got a recipe for ginger scones that sounds really nummy, or I could make more cookies, or an upside-down chocolate cake. Whatever shall I do?

swampy, you shouldn’t be handing out kisses to everyone in the office. They might get the wrong idea!

Ellen Cherry, I finally got to look at the pictures of your kidlets–they’re just lovely! And talented, too. I love your daughter’s freckles.

Man, I can’t wait until I have a kitchen I can actually cook in (read: kitchen with a dishwasher and more than a square foot of counter space), so I can put all these recipes to use.

Actually scout, I’ve never heard of a California roast either. Maybe the rule is only people who live outside of Cali can call it that.

Which makes me think of Eyetalian chicken. I just cleaned out the meat department at CostCo and I have chicken right to hand. What I don’t have is Italian dressing. Don’t suppose making my own would be the same-- I’ll have to swipe a couple three pouches from the cafeteria tomorrow. They like me so I can get away with that. Probably.

**Donkey ** bubeleh, maybe you’ll get it right since the time aspect is implied. Plus, context would change what to say. Or maybe share that cake you found in the bushes.

Draelin! I didn’t know you lived in my complex! I too would like a kitchen that’ll hold more than one person.

Poor Popeye, that’s just not right. If he has to go without an eye, it should behave itself. When I’m Queen of Everything, that’s gonna be a rule.

I always thought of her sort of being sucked up to heaven. Like a Barbie caught by the vaccuum cleaner only bigger. Is that sacrilegious? What if I’m not christian?

[sup]The rococococo rats did not play today. The baby rats demonstrated their displeasure, though.[/sup]

Butterscotch cake recipe. Ala kataxi! Heck; still no recipe.

I’m much better tonight, simply because I found dark chocolate chips, and a Devil’s Food cake mix. Walnuts instead of pecans, but it was still almost better than cheesecake. Now, I think I really REALLY need that crock-pot cake recipe. Please? If I beg and promise pie?

I made Spaghetti Carbonara, fresh bread and steamed broccoli for supper, because I had all the ingredients and forgot that I don’t have to drive 60 miles to the grocery store anymore. With Chocolate Upside Down Cake for dessert. I may survive this move after all! The coconut oatmeal cookies will have to wait until I find the stoopid cookie sheets, but not one minute longer. I’m not at all fond of coconut, no, not me, does it show?

Draelin I think Hawaiian Punch should be a Controlled Substance, Schedule III at least. Someday I’ll tell you about my brand-new pale blue carpet, and my (now ex) step granddaughter. Actually, forget the story, just use your imagination, but let the child survive.

Hugs to Popeye special delivery from Batcat, who still has intact eyeballs behind her 3rd eyelids, for now.

Did I miss the memo on ChaoticDonkeyBear’s unofficial new nickname? Or has there been no consensus yet? Oh, I have so many disjointed questions and comments! Did Bobbio find sexy new pants? How is Mrs. Vunder doing? Is FCD happy about his lack of Frankenscar potential? The Cherry clan is adorable. I loves me some new shoes, and light-eyed dark-haired players (although I prefer Hockey to Baseball) but I’m not a gay man, last time I checked, anyway. Or anywhere near Georgia, for that matter. As a woman in her forties, I don’t wanna talk about hair, but thankyousoverymuchforasking.

I hope I can stay awake for ER, and I hope it isn’t icky again this week.

I just missed the greatest straight line ever. I can’t believe that I didn’t catch that. And no, no one who knows my previous boyfriend history would say anything to me :stuck_out_tongue:

Ya gotta move quick around here donkeybear. The good lines never last long.
