The Fountain of Yoot. Guest MMP

Yes, yes it is possible. And I’m not even that big a fan of dark chocolate.

White chocolate, on the other hand …

This just in - Yes. (I ate a bag of bridge mix in two days.)

Butterscotch cake? Looks like someone needs to make one of those and leave it in the bushes. With a fork, preferably.

Since, as far as we know, Taxi is the only one who knows how to make a butterscotch cake, can we now assume you are hiding in her bushes?

Puggy, I’m quite embarrassed to have to ask this question, what with being born and raised in California, but I just have to do it.

What’s a California Roast?

AH HA! See?! There you were giving me hard time about blaming the MMP for forcing me to buy these, and now you go and do the same thing! They are good, aren’t they? I mean they’re not gourmet dark chocolate by any stretch, but they are addicting.

So, Bumba, I see the winning Powerball ticket was purchased in Oregon. You’re not gonna forget your ol’ pals here at the MMP are you?

The only thing I said was don’t blame me for it. At the time I was still a dark chocolate kisses virgin.

So that’s where Bumba got off to!

sigh My poor baby kitty, Popeye, had to have an enucleation last night. His eye was badly infected when he was tiny and his 3rd eyelid sealed over the eye. We opened it up once and it was obvious that the eye had ruptured at one time and would never be viable, however the doctor thought we could just let it seal over again and remove it later if it became a problem. Well, his eye socket swelled up once recently and then drained out his nose. Then it did it again and got so large that it became apparent that it wasn’t going to drain and it would be a continual problem so we had to remove his eye. Since he’s 6 months old we also neutered him, so he had 3 “balls” removed total (two testicles and one eyeball).

Enucleations are very painful, he had some pain meds after surgery and I gave him more before bedtime. The poor baby slept all night in his carrier. I let him out this morning and he quickly ran to the litter box and took care of business. I gave him some food but he didn’t eat much. He then hid under my computer deak but came out when I talked to him so I held him for a while. He got up after a while and went back under the desk. I hate it when my babies hurt.
They are finally hooking up our huge generator at work today, it’s only been there for about 6 months. At least it will be ready if Wilma decides to come our way. I just don’t feel like doing any preparations right now, even though this one could really be the “big one”. I live on a peninsula, I am smack dab in the middle of the city and am technically not in a flood zone, however a direct hit from a strong hurricane won’t matter. Usually, when we have heavy storms and evacuations are called for, people just go evacuate the coastline and go inland but stay in the city, I don’t see how we could evacuate this city if needed. I don’t even have a car that I can trust to get me to the north end of the county. I just don’t want to even think about it all right now.

{{{Popeye}}}

Who did tell us about the dark chocolate kisses? Revenge must be plotted. I bought two bags, but I’m rationing myself. My husband thought I was insane when I walked out of my office, informed him that Hershey’s now has dark chocolate kisses, and left for the store.

Aww, poor Popeye! Make sure he gets lots of hugs, WileE, in my experience, a hurting cat want to be sure his human knows he’s hurting and shows proper sympathy.

Speaking of cats, Khan, my oldest, is starting to lose his hair. He’s seven and a half years old, and most of the fur at the base of his tail is simply missing. I was concerned for a little while that the young whippersnapper had something to do with it, but when they playfight (at least, I certainly hope they’re playing), Sirius doesn’t go anywhere near the tail. The skin where the fur used to be does not look irritated or enflamed, doesn’t appear to be sensitive to touch (though Khan’s never been a butt-scratch cat and doesn’t like anyone putting their hands south of his feline border), but I’m wondering if I should take him to the vet, anyway, and spend a buncha money only to be told that he’s getting older and it’s to be expected.

Now that I have tasted of the goodness that is Hershey’s dark chocolate kisses I can fully understand why you felt the immediate need to go to the store. I have my bag because I wanted a deli sammich for lunch so I went to the market just up the street from work. Of course, to get to the deli I had to walk down an aisle and as fate would have it it was the candy aisle. I glanced over and the Hershey’s dark chocolate kisses almost leapt into my hand! It was meant to be. So I got me a deli sammich, a bottle of water and a bag of dark chocolate kisses. I have stopped eating them for now cause they do be kinda rich.

There are many possible causes of hair loss so it might be a good idea to have him looked at. Some causes could be hormonal, allergies or behavioral. Often when it’s behavioral the cat is licking the fur off himself, it’s almost like OCD. They usually lick the insides of their legs, too. Is there still some peach fuzz there or is it completely smooth? Do you ever see him licking the area or rubbing on things? If it is behavioral it could be due to stress over the young whippersnapper. Cats can be very neurotic. They are more like humans than people think.

Most of my other cats became quite neurotic over Popeye, he was quite exuberant and playful, They are at least enjoying the “quiet time” with Popeye somewhat out of commission.

It’s just the base of his tail, which tended to get matted, but I do think he’s been licking his own hair off. I’ll check the insides of his legs, too–thanks for the tip. The whippersnapper’s been around for over two years, so I think Khan’s pretty used to him, but I guess it’s time for the Carrier of Doom and a trip to the Place Which Shall Not Be Named. Thanks!

Cake is in the oven as I type. I used the German Choc Cake mix (on sale at Jewel).

Middle school called and my son is covered in Hawaiin Punch.

I need to deliver him some clean, dry clothes–but after the cake is out of the oven.

Will start Halloween costume for my second grader this PM. Also will catalogue order most of Christmas tomorrow.

Dayum, I’m good!

Sorry to hear about the kitty–at least he’s got the right name(!). Hope he recovers soon.

Well:

Very tasty pot roast.

Poor popeye. I hope he feels better soon.

All this talk about evil chocolate kisses has reminded me that I need to buy Halloween candy real soon. Otherwise I will be outta luck and my house will probably get egged.

I can’t wait to hear the story behind this one.

Ah. I don’t much care for pot roast, so that explains it.

Not much of a story–my son has a drinking problem.

He spilled Hawaiin Punch all in his lap-and he was wearing stone colored cargo pants today (of course). It spread from his fly to his knees and around his thigh. I didn’t know that he bought HP at school (I think HP is toxic. Not really, but you get the idea–it is not a “food” on the grocery list here).
I brought the stained pants home and they are soaking now.

The cake is very, very sweet. But moist and delicate. IMO, it needs more nuts and fewer marshmallows–but it’s definetly a keeper.

(the marshmallows all melt into the choc chips, brown sugar etc–it makes a syrupy topping, er bottom). I can see doing this with dark chocolate cake mix–that would really add power to the choc punch.

Would be excellent with ice cream (but then again, what isn’t good with ice cream?).

Nummies and thanks for posting the recipe, taxi

Aww, that’s not nearly as fun as it could have been. But you’re a good mom for not making him wear the pants all day.

Taters, iffen it was me won the powerball, there’d be such an MMP party!!!
But alas, no. Oddly enough, Wife was talking about this last night and said she was gonna stop off at the Thriftway and get the winning ticket, but when she got there they told her the machine was closed. She thought the drawing was at eight, but they closed the machines at seven or thereabouts. So you see, wew were this close.

Taxi, I knows how to cook, really I do, but I am a cake baking virgin (so to speak), so tell me, with all the layering going on in your chocolate upside-down cake, is that an extra deep cake pan or what size do you use?

It’s a good thing I didn’t read this thread before I went to the store this morning, or I’d be in trouble. I did buy a bunch of canned soup for my lunches at the shop. I’m eating Campbell’s chunky smoked chicken with roasted corn chowder (with crackers) even as I type. It’s okay, but not great.

I finally found M&M almonds at the store yesterday, so I guess Halloween is good for something. They were very good. Thanks to whoever turned me on to them.

  • Bumbazine, still poor.

I just had un examen de espanol, which I would have aced, but I forgot the phrase for “in a little while”. I bsed the phrase “en un poco mas”, but I should have added “tiempo” to the end, and she might have counted it right.
