Mornin’ everyone.
It’s 59F and mostly cloudy outside. The forecast calls for morning clouds and afternoon sun, with a daytime high of 75F. Temperatures are slated to start ramping up, and by Monday, we’ll see mid-80s.
Mollie, I am very sorry about Buttercup.
FCM, I’m sorry the doctor’s news has upset FCD. I’m thinking of both of you.
BooFae, sounds like a fun weekend!
Red, I laughed at the Nelson story. Many of the pet stories are funny here. When I still had Polar, he’d watch me as I worked around my garden area, planting, transplanting, whatever. After I was done, he’d explore the whole area, sniffing at everything. Then, he’d hike his leg and pee on a particular plant. It was only one, and the rest of the season, he’d pee on that exact same plant. It was never in the same place from year to year, so I just learned that there was always the Sacrificial Plant or flower, and laughed. I still miss Polar so much.
As for male dogs lifting their legs, Polar did a bit of both, squatting and leg lifting. Buster is much the same. Captain was a leg lifter, too. Both Polar and Buster lived/live with girl dogs, so I think that might have something to do with the squatting thing. When Zeus comes to visit, Buster lifts his leg to mark the spots that Zeus has marked or peed upon.
Mmm, farm-fresh eggs would be awesome, Johnny. I hope you get some.
Yesterday morning, we went to the big orange store to get more paint supplies and another gallon of paint for the bathroom. After that, we went to the cannabis store for my husband. I hate that shit, but whatever. We came home, unloaded all the paint stuff, and then went back out to the grocery store. Got our groceries, came home, and unloaded them. By that time, it was nearly noon. Before we had left for all the errands, I had cleaned the kitchen, swept the floor, watered all the posies front and back, deadheaded or pruned anything that needed it, and picked up dog poo.
We did not end up painting yesterday, but will be doing so today. After painting, we’ll need to calk the tub area, after the paint is dry, of course.
Next, we’ll move on to the guest room, I guess.
I am still deciding on whether to buy a trundle daybed for the bonus room or just get some raised air mattresses for the grandkids. The mattresses on daybeds with trundles are rather thin, but air mattresses are always iffy. Whatever I decide, I need to do it soon.
Ah, yes, use it or lose leave. I didn’t start running into use it or lose it " until the kiddos were teenagers. By the end of my career, I racked up a ridiculous amount of use-it-or-lose-it every year, along with comp or credit hours that needed to be used. All this despite my taking two weeks of annual leave every August (which went back to the years the kids were in daycare and it would shut down). One week was always used for fun, and the next week for projects or just lounging. To burn up most of my use-or-lose, I started taking every Friday that wasn’t my RDO off from October through the end of the leave year. Additionally, I would take a week of leave around Christmas. I would also take a day or two of leave around all the long weekends throughout the year. By October, I’d have around 350 accrued annual leave hours, again, despite burning two weeks in August and taking extra days around the holidays. It was crazy. By the end of the leave year, I was sitting at exactly 240 hours, so I could carry it over.
I’m glad I don’t have to worry about burning leave hours anymore.
Welp, I suppose I should get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.
