The Gift of Life in the MMP

People have been firing mortars, and other fireworks, all afternoon. They really should wait until dark. I mean, what’s the point? But the sun doesn’t set until 21:17. Goo and Findus are sleeping. I haven’t looked in on Abbey. but I’m told she’s doing OK.

Just had medium-rare rib-eyes and cornonnacob cooked on the barbie. Wel, we each ate half a steak, and wrapped up the other halves for another time. You know I got a new Levi’s jacket a couple of weeks ago, because I have two GAP denim jackets. Well, I uncovered two denim Levi’s, well-faded. (My new one is raw indigo.) There was also the brown corduroy, fleece-lined Levi’s jacket I got in high school. I think they call that ‘vintage’. (The jacket; certainly not me!)

I took two loads to the storage unit. I did manage to expose the outlet in the ‘niche’ in my bedroom, which was my goal. I’m beat. And I still have three loads of laundry to fold. But I want more wine.

T-boomers and rain continue - some very loud and close. But power has held steady. Apparently a number if trees in the area have gone tumbling down - glad we haven’t been on the road.

And I think I’ll mosey back to bed.

Lots of noise and power now. Nature is showing all her glory tonight and I’m loving it.

Temps down to 76F and half an inch of rain in the last fifteen minutes. We are under flood watch again.

You wrapped up your steaks and uncovered two jackets? Must have been mighty large steaks or tiny jackets if they were hidden under the steaks!

Fireworks started around 2030 – a couple dozen, not all at once, and fairly quiet as such things go. A thorm arrived at 2115, and put an end to the ground-based noise (though there was quite a bit up in the sky).

Severe thorm watch 1920-0100 tonight, along with a severe thorm warning 2146-2230. Nothing else going on tonight. Ho-hum… .

Storms have started in Philly. We are down to 82f now.

They have evacuated the parkway concert. The radar looks like it will be awhile.

Jolly joker.

I also uncovered ‘my’ high school German I textbook. It’s not actually the one I personally had, but it’s the same book.

I still have my textbooks from first- and second-year German. I also have Immensee, one of the books we read in third-year, which I kept because the entire book is printed in Fraktur.

Rain is over. There was a big fireworks event happening downtown just as it started and the boomers kept going for about two minutes, then everyone left.

That is a shame, I know the community was invested in it (I donated because I wanted all of the noise to happen in one spot).

Now I’m heading off to deal with the sheet/pillow case mismatch. He changed the sheets today but put one of his pillow cases on one of my pillows and I can’t do anything about it tonight. I’ll just lay awake and twitch for hours instead.

Finally at 2312 the boom-booms in the neighborhood ended. I don’t recall it happening here in the past, but maybe I blocked it out. Anyway, it’s now quiet so maybe I can get to sleep.

Maybe.

No boom.
[Ivanova]No boom today. Boom tomorrow, there’s always a boom tomorrow[/Ivanova]

62 ferrets and not too much illegal activity, but the night is young. We eschewed steak and instead ate biiiiiig salads.

We are at a drizzle now, 78f, and the city has told people to come back to the parkway. They will continue the concert and fire works after. That means fireworks after midnight.

Le sigh.

Mrs. L.A. wanted watermelon. 73¢/pound. I didn’t look at the receipt, but I think it was over $10. We also bought cornonnacob and bananas, and the watermelon was the largest purchase. She had a couple of pieces, and pronounced it ‘not very good’. (I had some, and it was OK.) She was thinking about throwing it away, but I gave it, a bit more than half, to some neighbours. I said there are only two of us, and we’d had enough.

1pm and all my You Tubes are watched and the booms have stopped, so heading off to Slumberland soon as I scan the rest of the day’s missives. My HVAC control seems to be on the fritz, got as warm as 83F inside but it’s cooling off now. Glad I have overhead fans in the bedroom.

And off to bed. Catch y’all tomorrow.

We blew up things.

No, really. Right at 1 o’clock (“we’re CUH-LOZZZZED”) S.M. rounded us up to set off fun little sparkly things in the parking lot. Nothing too over the top, but lotsa pretty colors and an occasional noisy. We had fun.

Also, never underestimate a crew of smokers to have a lighter or three on hand.

Also also, it’s 2:16 a.m. and I’m still hearing amateur blowup.

Here, too, and I was similarly puzzled. I assume practice rounds?

Does it involve the equivalent of “Donde esta la biblioteca?” because what’s the most important question when visiting a foreign nation?

Every dang Spanish Level One book started with that damn sentence.

(Hint: “Where is the potty?” might be more useful, future book editors.)

… Oh, more explodies! At least Monkey doesn’t give a flying  but I feel bad for the Mumpets who are having a come-apart this weekend.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off again. I shall do moring cleaning and afternoon slothing. Spot is somewhere. It’s 76 degrees Ferret Height outside(24.444 Centipedes).

Well, one of the good things about tea is it doesn’t get cancelled due to the weather…

Lazy start, as predicted.

Planning on heading out shortly, but I’m not sure which garden centre to go to- I only actually need to get some twine, but I’ve realised going to the closest place means going past the big event that’s on a mile or two away- which I can just hear from here- and the roads may be solid queues right now. I could go to the one in the other direction, which isn’t that much further, but I rarely manage to get out of there without being unaccountably attacked by an unruly mob of plants who hijack my car and demand a lift to my house.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 with a chance of rain mid to late afternoon. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. I need to warm up the bbq (in a slow cooker) and slice the King’s Hawai’ian rolls we bought to use as the bread for bbq sammiches. We’ll bring extra sauce as well. Plus there are two pies to take. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities, as we have been extra social and deserve to be hermits. There were some KA*BOOMS last night but they were over by ten p.m. YAY!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence. I get to plop in a pew with OYKW today. That’s two weeks in a row!

Happy Sunday Y’all!

We’ve got 70 Ferrets this morning, on the way to mid-90s. My backyard thermometer actually hit 100 yesterday, which surprised me, and not in a good way. Rain went on and off till maybe 10-ish? Then everyone was outside blowing stuff up. I have no idea who was doing it in our neighborhood - I looked out the window and didn’t see any activity, so I guess the sound bounced between our house and Ben’s, making it sound like he was doing it. Or he was doing it, but down by the road. Whatevs - it did finally end, tho I didn’t get to sleep till after 1.

We’re promised rain at assorted times all week with high temps being much more reasonable after today. That’s a relief for sure.

Dunno what’s on today’s agenda. We should probably go check on the boat. And I just now remembered that I need to print out new insurance cards for all of our vehicles. We’re good till the 15th, but no sense waiting till the last second.

Happy Sunday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 18c/64f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is pretty fucking stupid”.

Yesterday’s plan worked well, we arrived.at the festival just as the band started outside. They have two stages, one outside and one inside so as soon as one stage finishes, the other one starts. Our less mobile friends found a seat outside and pretty much stayed there, we floated between stages so we got to see a bit of everything.

In honour of the day, I had several cups of tea in the afternoon  before my first beer around 6pm. As the venue is in a built-up area, the outside stage has a curfew for music and everything moves indoors for the rest of the night.

52 I was back at the hotel and in bed by 2am  If we were at our home music venue, we would still be rocking the night away!

It’s Day 3 today, two of our friends are leaving after it finishes as they live about 10 miles away and have work tomorrow. The rest of us will be heading home on Monday instead. The bands finish early tonight and there’s football at some uncivilised hour (we aren’t interested but one friend is) so not quite sure of our post-festival plans yet.
