Christina performed on the Jay Leno show the other night and I was blown away! She did a big band song-and-dance number–I don’t remember the song but the overall aesthetic was kind of like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” cranked up to 11. I got out of breath just watching her dance, and she was still belting the song out with vigor. The whole thing was extremely well arranged and choreographed. Talk about showmanship!
And I think she is very hot–especially now that she’s gone back to a more ‘normal’ or glamorous look. For a few years there, she looked like she was trying to appear as skanky as possible and it was a major turn-off. But now? Major babe.
I watched last night, begrudgingly and thought it was the best Grammy’s in years. I would say my taste rund from Chili Peppers (high) to Police i was high in the (80s) to Timberlake (below low) and yet I thought nearly all the performances other than the Chili Peppers and Timberlake were great.
It was great to see the other members of the Police, but Sting has been singing “Roxanne” solo for years, so it was more like “Sting with his old back-up band” with a few “more-syncopated” fancy drum fills.
Christine was incredible, and Beyonce was also excellent, and I really do no listen to their music. Ludicris’ number was also fantastic, as was Gnarles Barkley although the “start at the small stage and then walk to the big stage” was stupid. The tribute to the Eagles could have been done better or with better talent, although Underwood was pretty damned talented for such a young artist. However, she will never belt it out like Aguilera.
Different music than I am used to but a wide range of music and talent that I really enjoyed.
I too thought Christina Aguilera was amazing, and I loved that she threw some James Brown-esque moves in there. Speaking of the Godfather of Soul, did anyone else get sniffly when the cape was thrown over the mic stand? For some reason, that just got me right in the soft spot.
When the girl came out for her My Grammy Moment, I swore I heard the Go Fug Yourself girls screaming.
