I am. Black Eyed Peas opened, not too bad. Now we have Gwen Stefani and Eve in some seriously short dresses doing a little ditty that I could have survived without. I guess if anyone is actually going to watch we could throw our popcorn when they announce all the winners we hate together?
I’m watching. Who are all these people?
After Gwen and Eve, they had the Los Lonely Boys, then Maroon Five (whose singer wasn’t too impressive in my opinion) and then I can’t tell you the name of that last group. Catchy tune though.
I must be out of the loop. Many of these acts aren’t ringing the bells they should. I mean, they sound familiar, but I couldn’t name a current (or Grammy-worthy) song by them if I had to.
Grammys?? Why would I be watching that when the Pro Bowl is on??
No, I’m kidding…no one actually watches the Pro Bowl…
There’s more defense at the Grammy’s.
From watching the red carpet shows, it sounds like they gave away something like 82 awards away at pre-show ceremonies and there will only be 11 awards given away on the show, so they have more time for live performances.
I was considering it, but we can’t get CBS to come in. Who’s won what?
Los Lonely Boys won for best pop duo or group with vocals for How Far is Heaven.
Green Day just won for something, I am guessing best Rock Album for American Idiot.
Led Zeppelin got a lifetime achievement award, and so did an older blues artist…Pinetop somebody(sorry Pinetop).
I think Tangent is right, they aren’t handing out a lot of awards, but they are having a lot of performances.
Who was the guy that just performed with Sarah Evens? I think it was Free Bird
The last band was Franz Ferdinand playing “Take Me Out.”
I thought the beginning performances were alright, other than Franz Ferdinand’s performance, which was great. However, when all 5 bands had to play their own songs all together at the same time, it was one of the most awful and embarrasing things I’ve ever heard. Bad decision on that.
Also, I liked U2’s performance, though to be honest I love U2 and basically believe they can do no wrong.
Also Jennifer Lopez’s performance with her husband what’s-his-name just made me giggle for some reason. It wasn’t that bad, it was just kinda strange and awkward I guess.
Just stepped away for a bit during the southern rock tirade, yukk.
I think I have new dating criteria. If a woman likes Freebird, adios!
I think he’s Ronnie Van Zant’s son. I can’t think of his name. He’s been fronting the reconstructed band for years.
He hammed it up too much, in my opinion.
I figured it was a Van Sandt. At first I would have sworn it was Vince Neil until I realized the hair was too long.
Have they announced the best alt album? Or is there a website where I can find the winners? It won’t air here for another 2 hours.
Thanks for the reminder of Franz Ferdinand. Yeah, I agree about the bands together thing. That seems to be all the rage these days, and I think it just sucks.
I like U2 myself, but I have grown tired of their popping up everytime I turn on the T.V.
Lopez’s hubby is Marc Anthony.
Alicia Keys has had the best performance in my opinion. I liker her because she is pretty classy, a rare find these days.
When did Queen Latifah turn into a lounge act?
Thanks Duffer. I guess I shouldn’t be disappointed that the best album of the year (Wilco’s A Ghost is Born) didn’t win a single award since this is the grammys and all, but damnit.
And how did Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton singing “Something” lose to Sting and Mary J. Blige?! BAH!
Shit, wrong link :smack: But should be pretty close
