The "Is anyone else actually watching the Grammys" Thread

I assume you left to watch Queen Latifa’s shitty performance?

Hmm, just kidding. Jaime found a site where it says A Ghost is Born won best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package.

Well, good.

I thought so, too. I thought she was surprised and visibly moved by the standing ovation she got. Much deserved.

And the Grammy goes to… Maroon 5 for best new artist

Nah…Vince Neil’s a lot prettier.

I stand corrected by myself. According to their website, Johnny Van Zant, Skynard’s lead singer, is Ronnie Van Zant’s younger brother, not his son.

Who was the dude with the black strat that came out at the end of the Skynyrd/Betts deal? Was that Neil Young?

Alycia Keys wins for Best R&B Album. Good call.

I don’t know for sure, but it sure looked like him. I was waiting for some sort of nod or other acknowledgement to him during the “I heard Neil Young sing about us…” part of their performance, but it never happened. Still though, I think it probably was.

I’ve just never heard him play like that.

Nope, but I’m kicking myself for missing Franz. :smack:

Speaking of playing, I ws impressed during the opening when they tossed the lead singer of Maroon Five that white SG and he started tearing it up.

Best Rap Album…Kanye West–and he actually just referred to Al Bundy in his speech, that has to be a first!

Cool closing line to his acceptance speech.

Glad to see Wilco won something. Green Day’s performance (and Quentin’s lead-in - “The concept was that all of the songs were good.”) kicked major ass. They even had fire!

Agreed. It was nice to see someone so sincere.

What did Wilco win? And I missed Greenday, cripes! :frowning:

Best Alternative Album for A Ghost is Born

Best Country Album goes to…Loretta Lynn for Van Lear Rose. Accompanied to the stage by Jack White (I believe).

Awesome! One of the best albums of the year, and their collaboration on “Portland, Oregon” was amazing.
