I received two more postcards today from Baker. One was of the Konza Prairie and the other was of the Kansas state Capitol in Topeka. The Kansas Capitol looks even more grandiose than the Oregon one. And the statue on top of the dome is just as quirky too. I thought it was Cupid at first, until I read the back of the card.
I’m sure one could make an interesting tour of the US looking at all of the state capitols and comparing and contrasting their architectural styles and merits.
Thanks for the feedback, phouka! So two of the three cards I sent have arrived, the third one is still in limbo, with no feedback on whether it arrived or not. I have received two cards so far, still waiting for the third.
I received my third (and a surprise fourth!) postcard from Iggy today. My daughter just sent a photo from home. The writing looks very lovely and poetic and I can’t see the other side of the postcard yet. I’ll write more later, but just wanted to update - my postcard exchange experience is complete!
Well I stink. Ended up on the road for what was supposed to be one week, turned into 3. Great adventures, but got nothing personal done. Including mailing cards, or even reading my own mail. So now that I am back…
Apologies to all.
Anaglyph - awesome bit from Zurich. I really need to make it there. phouka - the wrecking ball struck home in many ways. faithfool - a homemade card! Very cool.
Hey, y’all!
Yes, my life HAS BEEN and will be continue to be crazy for a while … the relocation up the road to my new digs was interrupted by a (driving) trip to Chicago & back. When almost home my car got rear-ended … just what I needed  :smack:
My postcards WENT INTO THE MAIL YESTERDAY (6/6)… I have NOT forgotten the SDMB
I have received one postcard so far … from whom I forget (sorry / too much on my mind) but it was from the lovely Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA. I haven’t been to the Center (yet) but I loved the town when we went thru in 2012. Hope to get back someday.
THANKS THANKS THANKS! This is being written from the free WiFi at my “new local library” … our 1891 train wreck house is being wired for internet TODAY. I hope.
Got my last card from Algher, and it’s a gorgeous tram ride! I’d love to take something like that for a spin. Truly lovely and it’s going up on my postcard wall. Thank you so much. It was well worth the wait.
Algher’s card arrived in my mailbox! It’s showing the palm springs aerial tramway. I’ll be going farther north this year, going to Seattle, but a colleague of mine will be spending a year at UC San Diego - La Jolla, this might be a nice place to see for him.
Thanks for the card and the feedback on the whereabouts of the card I sent you - now I know that all three of my cards reached their destination, and I also received three cards - ready for the next round.
This week’s mail brings a lovely postcard of a tall ship from Grrlbrarian which plys the waters of the Great Lakes in the tourist trade.
Indeed my little island has been known to have a few ships sail in… but our regular visitors are more of the newlywed, overfed, and nearly dead cruise ship variety. At least that is on the far end of the island from me.
I got my third and final card from Atomic Mama two days ago, thanks! I’m afraid my card to you got lost somewhere along the way, so I’ll try to send a new one this week
