Another card has arrived from Lsura! Thank you - I didn’t expect a second one.
It depicts a Peace Monument in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Do you know why it’s called the ‘New York’ Peace Monument if it’s in Tennessee?

It was erected by the State of New York to commemorate the soldiers who died there during the US Civil War. See here.
Damn.
Did they come apart? I live way out in the boonies now and the closest place to me that I could have those printed was Walmart. And, of course, ours does NOT do postcards.
So, I had to buy postcards, glue them to the back of my pictures and wait several days before sending, all in hopes that they wouldn’t come apart. I’m so sorry. Anyway, the idea was to send you something from my area, that was homemade. As amateur photographer, I really was hoping you’d like that shot versus the goofy cowboy crap underneath. Again, my apologies. ![]()
Cool, Cheez - thanks. I’m very interested in Civil War history.
All postcards should be in the mail no later than today, my friends.
Also, I meant to add to Algher and phouka… if the same thing ends up happening to you as well, I offer a preemptive apology. I’ll know next time that trying this method doesn’t work. Grrrr.
I had way too much fun finding postcards for this round. I had to restrain my mailing ![]()
And thanks for the question - I never even questioned why it was called that growing up!
(Re)mailed my third postcard on Monday.
Received one, but I’m at work and it’s at home. Will follow up with details tonight!
Got my three in the mail today, right on the deadline.
Is it just me, or did anyone else have trouble finding postcards?
That is, I went to the local RenFaire planning to buy them there, and there were none to be found for love or money. I didn’t have time to go to any landmarks where I might find some, so I ended up purchasing a book of postcards by an artist I hadn’t heard of before, Bruce McCall, at a Half-Price Bookstore. I really didn’t want to go to a Walgreens or other drug store which was the only other place I could think of.
phouka, since you live so close to me, have you gotten mine yet? I’m going to be utterly baffled if someone out of the country got theirs before you did.
I received a beautiful card today from Cheez Whia of the Colorado National Monument. That’s beautiful country out there, unlike the flat cornfields by me!
I had trouble last year and the first round this year. Then I happened to be at an antique mall and some of the stalls had awesome bins of postcards, like new, but from all around the world. I found some fantastic ones there and I’ll go back again for more.
You can almost always find 'em at historic site and art museum gift shops. Stock up now for future rounds!
Sorry to be late, my cards go out tonight.
Mine went out today. Just under the wire. Not exactly postcards, but small notecards. I can’t seem to put my finger on the ones I bought last round.
Sorry Sorry Sorry!
Life (including death, not mine) really got busy.
Merci beaucoup pour la carte postale de Grrlbrarian. It arrived most promptly over a week ago.
Thank you to Nayna for her fun, retro Pittsburgh card. It arrived Friday or Saturday.
My cards went to the post office yesterday which means they’ll leave my 1-horse town today.
Don’t worry, it did not fall apart - I simply noticed that the card consisted of two layers, and being a notoriously curious person, I had to check why it was so.
was on the road the past few days, but got them posted - probably will actually be picked up by Canada Post in today’s pick-up.
I received a postcard from Grrlbrarian with a lovely sepia-toned still life … photo? painting? Then I spent a bit of time Googling the artist, Didier Galliard, and discovering his really cool work.
It’s a photo. Thanks!
Gotcha. Well, I hope you liked it anyway. ![]()
Got an adorable postcard today from phouka by Bruce McCall, depicting a bunch of King Kongs (?) having lunch way up high on some other, smaller buildings, while little by-planes off in the distance circle the much larger Empire State Building. I love it! Thank you.
And as an aside… yep, we aren’t that far apart geographically and are quite frequently in the area due to all my husband’s medical issues. We should indeed hook up and have a bite to eat sometime.
I received a lovely card from Labtrash today. Not Holland
