The Great Summer 2022 Doper Postcard Exchange!

Got a postcard from @Teuton. How did you know I was in York last month??? S/he used a word I had to look up. Crenulations.

I received an envelope with 2 first-day-of-issue stamp postcards from @penultima_thule. One is of a Tawny Frogmouth (so well camouflaged that I can’t spot it in the tree)

and the other of a malleefowl. Both birds from down under.

Very cool! Thank you!

Constant surveillance, @peedin. It is a great place, I’ve been a lot.

There you go! 0-3
The mail going up hill works better than the mail coming down. :upside_down_face:

I have received two, yes, TWO more postcards from @Teuton . Either s/he didn’t remember that s/he sent me one, or s/he has an excess of cards, or s/he knew I needed to see a Breton woman wearing a lace head dress. The second card is a 60 year old picture of Smeaton’s Tower in Devon.

Nine days later, I have received a card from @dbygawdcapn - a were accountant (wolf turns into an accountant at the full moon) with a foreverstamp from 2016. Also mentioned crabs. Thank you!

I got both on the same day. I’ve never heard of the Great Dismal Swamp, probably because I’ve only been in I’ve only visited Virgina Beach when I was in elementary school and the greater D.C. area. Now I’m looking at pictures of Cracker Barrel chicken and dumplings, and am wondering if it’s as good as my grandmother’s recipe. Thank you!

I mean… let’s be honest, probably not, but if you’re ever again in America, you should go to Cracker Barrel and give them a try. And the biscuits! And cornbread! And the famous Cracker Barrel Peg Game!

Decent biscuits alone are worth a visit. My dad loves Cracker Barrel, so he‘ll convince my mom to go. However there are still none in my home state.

Went to my mailbox, and there was a package. I looked at the address and it was my postcard exchange person, Butterflys_ghost. Inside was a bottle, which they’d tried to send as is but it had to be packaged. Love it! Started my day off fun :butterfly:

I got a message-in-a-bottle from EinsteinsHund yesterday, including a clothespin sailor, a tiny paper boat and the appropriate Police lyrics, all the way from Germany. Many thanks!

I’m so glad it arrived. I had my worries.

I got three postcards from @Teuton: a photo of a pair of sculptures called “The Kelpies”, some drawings of some figureheads from British warships, and a photo of Concarneau in France with some kitties. Thanks!

In the mail today, a pleasant view from a grassy knoll overlooking Heggen Germany from @EinsteinsHund. Thanks!

ps: So, Deutsche Post ate the first card, eh? Hmmm…sounds a little like “the dog ate my homework” if you ask me. (Kidding!)

Today I also received a lovely postcard depicting Heggen. Its so very green!

How does one know if the Deutsche Post eats a postcard? The only way I would know is if the recipient told me that it hadn’t arrived.

Thank you again, EinsteinsHund. Its lovely.

And with those, and I think that’s all my postcards received in both directions!

I won’t tell the whole story yet because I don’t want to spoil everything for some pending recipients, but @The_Butterfly_s_Ghost and I sent some gimmicky mail in the first place. I was dumb enough to forget to put on my sender’s address, so when I heard from her that her mail had been returned to sender by Deutsche Post because of the format, I considered my mail lost. So I sent additional “normal” cards to make up for it.

She had resent me hers because of that, but I got it.

That’s good to hear. Maybe mine will also still arrive, so far at least @Elendil_s_Heir got it.

Very clever detective work! Thank you again for the very nice card.

As did I, and ditto!
