The guy sitting behind me at work has never seen "the matrix".

and this guy is a major geek! How the hell is this even possible!?

Anyone else out there that has yet to see a movie everyone else has seen?

I work with a bunch of programmers (geek central) and hadn’t seen it until about 3 weeks ago. It had been so hyped by everyone around here that I couldn’t help but be let down. It was an OK movie but it wasn’t the second coming of Christ that everyone had led me to believe it would be.

I wish I was so lucky. That movie sucked. Good visuals, good concept, lousy dialogue and story.

I know of no geeks who haven’t seen this movie multiple times.

I’m a big movie buff and I’ve never seen it. I tend to get annoyed by the all the hype and prefer to find them myself.

It took me a long time before I saw the Matrix. It’s was like reading “Silas Marner” in high school – you do it because you must, not because it was supposed to be any good. I found most of it incredibly dull and cliched.

Some movies I haven’t seen:

Aliens (hated the original – a truly stupid movie – so didn’t bother with it)
Anything by Oliver Stone
The Sixth Sense (I’d love to see it, but my wife doesn’t like horror)
Schindler’s List (haven’t had the chance)
Fight Club (it really sounds stupid, but I’ll probably see it eventually)
Saving Private Ryan (not that interested in a war movie)

I haven’t seen Lord of the Rings yet.

I have even had a loan of the DVD of the first one for the last month, but just haven’t got round to watching it.

I haven’t seen Matrix either- the hype just turned me off. I haven’t seen LOTR but I’ve read the books several times.

I haven;'t seen the Matrix yet

I haven’t seen Schindler’s List or Saving Private Ryan either myself. I actually fell asleep watching Schindler’s List, but that’s because I tried to watch it at a very sleep-deprived stage of my freshman year and just couldn’t handle sitting in a darkened room for more than five minutes at a stretch.

As long as you didn’t make out during Schindler’s List

I’ve never seen any of the Star Wars or Star Trek films, or ET, not even on television . . . Just not a big sci-fi fan . . .

I was turned off by the marketing for The Matrix and Fight Club. The fact that one of the Matrix ads made me miss a touchdown pass in that year’s superbowl didn’t help. Does anyone else remember that?

I avoided watching either film until they came out on cable. I was pleasantly surprised in both cases. Now I wish I’d seen them on the big screen.

I’ve never seen Pulp Fiction.
“Big deal” says I.
There are a lot of popular movies I haven’t seen. Whoop de friggin’ do.

Never saw:
Schindler’s List
Fight Club
Any of the new Star Wars Movies
Any of the Star Drek movies since “Wrath of Khan”
The Blair Witch Project
Any of the Pierce Brosnan 007 movies
From Hell

I edit science fiction for a living and I’ve never seen The Matrix. I haven’t seen most of the recent gigantic-budget stupid “sci-fi” movies, and don’t intend to, because…well, because they’re stupid.

See, here’s the thing. You can view The Matrix in two different ways. It’s either 1) Really Deep Philosophy, or 2), brainless eye candy.

As a Really Deep Philosophy movie, it sucked. But as a brainless eye candy movie, it was excellent. If you walk in with your brain still turned on, well of course you’re going to hate the movie. But turn your brain off, and it’s quite enjoyable.

most of the movies here I havent seen, well roughly and thats including the matrix. My class were all shocked at that because ‘everyones seen the matrix, oh and the lord of the rings’. Well I havent! We had to watch a clip of that for philosophy and I fell asleep so I dont think i’ll be watching it any time soon!

I’ve seen over two thousand movies in my lifetime, but I have not The Matrix, nor The Lord of the Rings, nor ep. VI, I, or II of the Star Wars series. Way too many threads about those movies here.

I only saw it because it was on cable. The last movie that I have actually seen at the theatre was in 1997 or 1998 and then I can’t even remember what it was called, the one with the Meteor on it’s way to destroy the earth. I just either buy the DVD or wait for them to come to cable.

Never even saw Titanic either.

Movies I’ve never seen that everyone else has:

The Matrix
Jurassic Park
Home Alone
Citizen Kane
Gone With the Wind
