I don’t know what excuse they have; the English at least invented a language they cannot speak.
Dang furriners.
There was a girl from Malaysia who worked at the library and pronounced my first name very cute. Cuteily? Swampy, is that a word?

Hmm, they’re not foreigners. French is the main language where I live. If anything, I’m perhaps the odd one out at work. Not that I’m complaining. People are accepting. The people at work are nice.
I would’ve made cookies for them but it was just too hot today. (Mr. Tech Guy at work is the biggest fan of my cookies.) I’ll make some some other time, when it’s a few degreees cooler.
Them’s my hours.
Everyone at irk has a major case of the Mondays. Detailed AGM pointed out it’s because we’ve all had too many OMG MANDATORY DO IT NOW!!!111!! stuff dumped on us all at once in the middle of a very busy time. Of course TPTB never realized that July is a very bad month for 750 OMG MANDATORY DO IT NOW things in a row. They have to spend all of their time fussing about money and piddling bullshit.
But all is well because I got a quick walk in before the Thunderstorm That Wasn’t and I’m listening to Daft Punk and that makes me happy.
Apparently my Great-Uncle has hidden his will somewhere. Supposedly there are clues somewhere in the house as to where, but he claimed it’s a full-on treasure trail. Then he’s apparently left terms in the will so’s we have to do something involving his ashes and the South China Seas. Oh yeah- he studied law, and he’s a crossword fiend.
He said he doesn’t like people getting upset at funerals, so he figured he’d make us all glad he was dead…
My grass strimmer just broke- great timing, just as I’m starting to try clear this new allotment site. Bah. Mind you, a machete would be more appropriate for clearing that lot- you could lose an elephant in that grass.
I think I’m done for the day. I’ll assume the position in front of the TV. Tomorrow could be a busy day - we shall see!
MWAH!!
Furriners, not foreigners. It’s a joke, ay?

You, Sir, should be ashamed of yourself. Or proud. Either way I’m good. ![]()
flytrap cuteily works for me as a word. Cuteiously works as well.
Chikn ‘n rice, green beans and steamed carrots for dindin tonight. ‘Twas both easy and good. Normally, we would have had men’s night over to the church house last night but due to some schedule changes for July (and July only) we’re havin’ it tomorrow night. Thus, steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. Good times ahead!
Home from feeding the doggies, now I am at irk, or rather logged in to irk.
Waiting for the pizza, well actually a gyro for me.
Forgot to put my clothes in the dryer and Sah-son just informed me that the washer leaked all over the floor. I guess I need to go figure out what that is all about.
I wonder if it is the first time it leaked because I thought the laundry room looked different when I went down there, less stuff laying around.
Sounds like me. ![]()
Cuteiously, Rosie surveyed the damaged caused by Carnivorousplant’s attempt at laundry.
Did you find some pink underwear?
FCM and Taters
Thank you for your comments in last weeks thread.
I know what you mean by looking past the sellers decorating, I wish I could look past it but the house just didn’t grab me. I think it should be a practical decision not an emotional one.
The houses I’ve owned before I walked in and knew it was home. One of them had 17 pages of problems from the home inspection and I didn’t care. Most of them were minor like faucets and light switches being backwards. Later on I found that nothing was standard size in the house being that it was over 100 years old. The two living room windows looked the same size until I measured for blinds.
I don’t know why I gravitate to old houses, they are a pain in the ass.
If this one http://www.redfin.com/MD/Hagerstown/448-N-Prospect-St-21740/home/15363629 had off street parking and the stairs to the back yard weren’t so steep it would be the one I was buying.
The A/C is fixed! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
It only took two days on antibiotics to start feeling better. Got strep throat this weekend. Eek!
blurf.
Grad the drugs are kicking in, Apes
Dang, Apes! Didn’t anyone tell you that mommies aren’t allowed to get sick?? Take care of yourself!
I won’t go into TMI details, but I’ve decided we need to get rid of all the fabric toys that Higgs chews on and stick to less fibrous playthings. She lurves her alligator and her lamb, but I don’t want to be taking her to the vet with a blockage, so we need to find her other things she’ll enjoy chewing as much as her antler. The last “bone” I bought her has been “buried” somewhere in the house since the day it came home. Dogs is goofy…
Cats, on the other hand, are a pain in the butt. Taz decided he needed to pee in the laundry basket in the bedroom. My best guess is that the presence of worn unders convinced him that it was an appropriate potty receptacle. Stoopit cat. I don’t have enough dirties for a full load yet, so I just doused the spot with Nature’s Miracle to neutralize the odor and when **FCD **gets back, I’ll have plenty of clothes to launder. Stoopit cat.
So far, no one in my area is signed in to crab today. I’m supposed to keep checking till about 10, so there’s time. And I’ve already rinsed out a big insulated jug that will be filled with ice water. Today is a “random” day, which means I’m supposed to try to meet as many crabbers as I can, regardless of whether they’ve been monitored already this month. So we’ll see who, if anyone, goes out.
Meanwhile, I’ve got time to kill. Happy Wednesday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 very muggy and possibly foggy Amurrkin degrees out with a predicted high of 92 for the day and ONLY a 20% chance of rain for the day. We did have a downpour for a bout an hour last night with thuderatin’ all around but not close by da cave.
Tonight is men’s night over to the church house. So, I has a happy about that today. Also, at ten this mornin’ Ima do a phone interview about a possible irk from home gig. If’n I feel good about the interview and an offer is forth comin’ it shall be given serious thought. We shall see.
Apes glad you’re feelin’ better.
Yay for fixed a/c Prof.!
Hope you get crabs soon MOOOOOOM.
Sari that’s the thing about buyin’ a home. You know when it’s the right one.
Ok, now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Irish Storyteller called me last night to vent. I got him on to another topic by complaining about the ending of Twin Peaks (seriously WTF?) and mentioned I had a $50 gift card to Olive Garden sitting in my wallet doing nothing. Since it’s been impossible to get together with Night Audit Lady to use it up for the last several months, Irish Storyteller and I shall use it up on Friday. There may be a movie afterwards if there’s anything worth watching playing anywhere. Maybe Pacific Rim. I love me a Godzilla movie.
Other than that it’s a lovely foggy day in the mountains and I am determined to have a good day. It will be a good day, dammit. I have decreed it.
One person so far has popped up in my region, and it happens to be a place we drove by last week on our training day, so that’s good. I’ll need to leave here around 9:45 since he’s coming in early. It’s possible I could get another this afternoon if someone goes out, and if not, I’m down near Michael’s so I can get some fabric paint. So there’s that.
Morning all,
I am seriously afraid that my coworker is going to either get fired today or quit. He has a meeting with our government boss and his contractor boss this morning. The government boss was PISSED yesterday about something. We all think it is a big misunderstanding but he might just quit in protest anyways, and frankly I wouldn’t blame him. As much as he annoys me sometimes, I shall be greatly saddened to see him go. He is a friend.
Good luck Swampy.
Oh and blurf!
Blurf.
VWife has me on a slow burn. As always whenever there is a weather issue, she falls for the BS spouted by the local weather people. In this instance, she’s convinced that if I spend more than 30 seconds outside when the temperature is over 90 Amurrkin, I’m going to spontaneously combust.:rolleyes::rolleyes::grumble:
Why, yes, I was thinking of walking to irk today, because I need to get a rental car for a job related day trip to DC tomorrow. Said rental agency is less than a mile from the orifice, and on the way home.
**BBBobbio **- if you do combust, make sure someone is there to take pics…
I almost forgot I was ripening peaches for jam. Luckily, I didn’t, and they’re in the fridge right now. When I get done with my crabby adventure, I’ll skin them all and start slicing them up - some for jam, some for the freezer. Yum - peaches!!
