Well, which is it, a slow burn or spontaneously combusting? ![]()
Braising & flambé-ing are very different styles of cooking. Or is this one of those turn-up-the-temperature-at-the-very-end-to-get-the-skin-krispy (that spelling works for Messrs Snap, Krackle,) kinda reciepes???
I have found The. Best. Food. EVER!
French Toast Goldfish!!! They are the nummy!
Happy day for humping!
ETA: I was sleeping on the porch last night. I remember I was bit by something & it hurt/was itchy. I came inside to put some hydrocortizone on it & could see it was a fresh bite but I can’t find it anymore, so there’s that.
Spidey if’n you feel the sudden urge to eat insects and produce your own cobwebs, then it’s a radioactive spider. Other than that my guess would be a skeeter bite. Know what’s kinda amazin’? For all the rain we’ve had, the skeeters ain’t bad. That’s a good thing.
Lucky thanks for the good luck. I’m takin’ a “we’ll see” attitude.
**swampy **- your workplace sounds… um… unique. Weren’t you just all excited about placing people and training people?? And now you’re ready to take your crayons and go. Maybe it’s you??
I am ready for a new irkplace too, I am not enjoying this assignment and will be very happy when it’s over. They aren’t interviewing until 1st August but hopefully they will appoint someone and I can move on elsewhere.
Whatever happens, I will be off from 27th August for three weeks and they will have to do without me.
Other than that, I has a very hot blurf.
So coworker did NOT get fired or quit (but he thought about it). Gubernmentboss lady apologized. I think the earth halted or something. Goburment boss lady jumped to conclusions about something she heard, turns out it was someone else who said/did something she didn’t like (her best friend/enemy, its complicated), another gubernment person. So all is safe. Whew. Drama averted for today. We shall see about tomorrow.
In other less exciting news, I have too many tomatos from my garden and need to bring them in so people can make them go away, except I keep forgetting until I am here and see other vegtable offerings in the break room. Tomorrow. Tommorrow I shall remember tomatos, or else. Or else they will sit in my cupboard another week.
Howdy from da cave! Interview in twenty minutes. Normally I’d be stressin’ a little bit but I’m not. That’s either a good or bad sign. Nah, it’s just me takin’ a we shall see attitude.
Lucky I am the recepient of homegrown 'maters. A friend down at the irkplace brought 'em to me. Poor guy has ‘em comin’ out his ears he says. The rain we’ve had has made 'em not look so good but they taste great and that’s what counts. He grows lots of 'em because he likes to make his own tomato sauce which is also muy nummy. He gave me a bunch so I shall myself freeze most of ‘em for later use. Nuttin’ like fresh maters even if frozen in a 'mater sauce.
MOOOOOOM I like the people I place in trainin’ and jobs. That part’s good. What I don’t like is the direction things seem to be headed from TPTB. Me thinks some fundin’ is in jeopardy due to mismanagement on both the federal and state level. Thus the puttin’ out feelers just in case. Plus, I kinda like the irk from home idea if it’s a legitimate thing which this definitely sounds like at least. The company looks to have a good nationwide reputation.
Ok, need to do a little psych up and get into this interview thing.
Laterz!
You don’t expect to find humor in a science article so it tends to be even funnier, at least to me. It was an article about genetic selection of astronauts which was pretty speculative and I don’t even know why I was reading it - sleep reading I think (yes I made that up). Anyway, at the end there was a quote from someone at UC Berkeley saying basically it wasn’t really a pressing concern: “Those with the courage to ride into space on a rocket built by the low bidder on a government contract face a wide range of risks.”
It’s the weirdest thing; I’ve got a little bit of a headache today and the stomach has migrated to my throat and all I did last night was to drink a fair bit of fermented grape juice. I think I’ll call The Lancet and see if they can figure this out.
Happy Hump Day!
It’s a sunny 87 degrees outside, IOW it’s flippin hot.
Very hot when one has to take a shovel and fill in a hole.
Got up early and got the doggies fed. They were very bad doggies, I caught them digging a hole in the yard The husky starts the hole and I yelled at her and she ran into the house and that quick the schipperke was in the hole that was so deep only a little bit of his ass was showing.
So I had to fill in the hole and then I saw another one and had to fill that one in too.
Little suckers, they know better.
**Swampy ** good luck on the WFH job. It has it’s advantages.
Apes be careful with the strep.
Found out yesterdays floodage was caused by a clogged up drain in the laundry tub.
It was all cleaned up by the time I found out about it so I guess I owe somebody around here a thank you.
I have to walk hellpup today, for the first time in a long time. With the heat it may just be a let out as opposed to a walk, or it will be a very short walk.
I once lost a client because I refused to walk his dogs in the heat. Both dogs were old, one was obese and he wanted me to take them for a half hour walk at noon when the temps were in the hundreds.
I told him I would let them outside but I wasn’t walking them.
If he wanted two dead dogs he was going to have to kill them himself.
Spidey, What is french toast goldfish?
That is funny no matter where it was published.
Happy Humping Day. Caffine, The Dope and some errands today as I am not irking
Cheers
Jim
Well, my new CV (resume to most of you) does seem to be better than the old one- had another interview today. Could definitely have been better, but wasn’t too bad- they had a few computer tasks, and it turns out I can’t remember how to do multiplication properly on a spreadsheet, but the typing exercise was fine- for which I totally credit the Dope
I’ll find out friday anyway.
I should probably go out and do some errands, but it’s too hot whine.
Well, that was a quick day!
I left a little early so I could run by Michael’s then get some gas enroute. While at the pump, I got a message that my victim
was coming in at 1130 rather than 1100 - no biggie, right? Turns out he meant to enter 1030, and when I got there at 1015, he’d already unloaded his catch. But he showed me what he’d caught - a really meager haul, which is why he came back early. Anyway, I got his data entered, then stopped on the way home for some local 'maters and cukes. I’ll be making me a cuke salad before I start with the peaches. Looks like I’ve got me a kitchen-ful afternoon ahead.
88° out there - good reason to stay inside!
Ifn their website was updated it would be on this page. They are new, but have been out for at least a few weeks already.
What does CV stand for? I know it’s a synonym for resume but don’t know the acronym. <– Wow! two “nym” words in one sentence. ![]()
Curriculum Vitae. That’s furriner for resume…
where is this French Toast flavor of which you speak?
eta or do you make French Toast out of the Vanilla Cupcake ones?
Close, but with minor differences wrt length, content and purpose. My position is scientific so the last time I was secunded they asked for a CV instead of a resume.
They ain’t furriners, they’s French.

In the UK they’re all called CVs- whether technical 'n scientific or applying to scrub the floor. We like to pretend we all know Latin, y’see.
Really… good to know, thanks! Is the term ‘resume’ not in use for anything then in the UK?
I have achieved jamitude! 9 jars, 2 of which have to go into the fridge because I didn’t have room in the bath for them, plus about half a cup in some tupperware, also in the fridge. I used the no-sugar recipe - apple juice is the sweetener. Hope it comes out OK.
Today was not the best day for standing over a hot stove with a big pot of bubbling fruit and another full of boiling water. But I’m done, so there’s that. After I cool down a bit, I think I’ll work on some more towels. And I need to get to the post office. That sounds like a good excuse to go to Rita’s for a treat… ![]()
