This is what I get for reading the forum. He dropped a Murk-eye early, and it didn’t die straight-off, so I managed to Entomb it. His Anyfins (and he got both of 'em) proceeded to do 8 damage the first time and run into a Sludge Belcher and a Twilight Guardian the second. If that hadn’t happened, he probably would have killed me. Thanks, shijinn!
After I made a face hunter deck, I faced off against Reno decks a couple of times. You know what really sucks?
Pound an opponent severely, have lethal for turn 8.
Turn 8: Reno Jackson and Youthful Brewmaster
Curse loudly. Pound him some more, almost back to lethal.
Turn 10: Reno Jackson and Ancient Brewmaster
…
You gotta pound him down again and he’s still got that damn card to use AGAIN!
…How in the world do you survive past turn 10 with a face hunter? ![]()
Alrighty. Time for me to build a new deck. I’ve got Warlock, Rogue, Hunter, and Shaman left. I prefer playing a control or midrange deck, and not really a fan of brainless play. Hit me with your recommended decks. Thanks.
Playing an arena run. Someone just hit face with the sword of justice. I wasn’t at 3 hp or anything. Normal game, we each had like 25 hp. Just boop.
Is Reno Handlock a viable deck? I haven’t done handlock yet because I don’t really have any giants and didn’t want to spend the dust on crafting, but if reno handlock is viable maybe I could get away with only crafting one of each giant.
On the other hand, maybe you still do multiple giants (at least multiple molten giants) and don’t reno until after you get to deploy at least one cheaply. But would that be the only duplicate necesary?
Anyone have any recommended decks to try?
Demon or standard Zoolock is pretty far from brainless, IMO. It’s a fairly strong midrange archetype. Handlock can be kind of awesome if you have the cards… But you have to have the cards.
Coldlight Rogue is hella crazy, and tons of fun if you can pull it off.
Hunter… Yeah, good luck building a non-brainless good Hunter deck. ![]()
You could try lock and load Hunter or feign death Hunter. I did feign death Hunter a few seasons ago, it was pretty fun, and the hat makes it better now.
Rogue has lots of interesting decks, miracle rogue is back, and raptor rogue is decent. My favorite fun deck is mill rogue though. Not a deck like it. That, and control rogue with anuburak, but entomb seriously ruins your day.
I think you still want at least two copies of the mountain giant - if you haven’t gotten at least one into your hand within the first few turns you’ve probably lost anyway.
I don’t think Reno handlock works not because of the Giants, but because of the taunts - you absolutely need 2 argus and 2 sunfury, or the deck becomes too wildly inconsistent. Against aggro, handlock does well enough with hellfire or watcher + silence anyway, no need Reno to make it better, and against control a full heal will not be what wins you the game
Total board control and 22 hp against a druid. Force of nature, savage roar, innervate, savage roar. Ouch.
Yeah, sometimes you just have to say man that’s bullshit and move on…
My opponent probably felt the same way when I did a south sea deckhand, deadly poison prep tinkers sharp sword oil, tinkers again, attack with everything and blade flurry. (1+2+3+3)*2 + (2+3+3) = 18+8 = 26!
It was probably overkill but eh.
Ooh yeah, Rogues baby.
Yeah, those OTK decks…I really hate them. Coming out of nowhere when you have total board control and most of your HP left, it’s just a matter of having the cards in your hand to pull it off. That sort of thing is why they killed the Patron Warrior…it wasn’t “interactive” to watch your opponent OTK you … but this isn’t really much different.
I’ll admit that if I had FON, I’d try it, though.
Rank 5 on the 13th!
This is the fastest I’ve ranked up (not playing arenas really frees up time for ladder) and I’m not sure if this is the month to push for legend. I’m going to play a bit tonight and see what my post-5 winrate is and do the math.
Wow nice! I’m only up to rank 8. Let try for legend together!
What’s your win rate like? If you can hit 5 by the 13th you should be able to hit legend this month
Most of the decks I used had ~55-60% winrate. My zoolock had a horrific 33% winrate until I gave up on that one.
If I can keep the winrate in the high 50s I should have enough time to grind out the cardback. I’m just not sure I can keep the rate that high.
Huh. Zoolock is the only deck I’ve ever felt comfortable on. There’s nothing more satisfying than going PO + Abusive + Second Abusive to kill your opponent from 12.
How are people so incredibly bad at this tavern brawl? I keep seeing people send 1/1 tokens and token-generating units into the boss for no reason when he’s still at like 6/55. Then his “do damage to random units” hits the good units and the heroes. Especially bad when the druid player does it. They’ll use savage roar on some random turn after they ran all of their units into the boss for no fucking reason the previous turn.
Or they’ll use wrath to do 3 damage on a 70 hp unit instead of 1 damage and a card. Even if they’ve only got 2 or 3 cards left.
Best I can figure is that that since there’s no mmr or anything for the brawl you’re as likely as not to get a newbie who doesn’t understand how the boss mechanic works and why it’s better to just keep minions on the board.
To be fair: this is not an easy tavern brawl. It took a pretty nutty stroke of luck (Lorewalker Cho + Mirror Entity + Millhouse Manastorm + 2x Healing Breath) to win it on my end after like 5 failures.
