The Heat Is On - A Heat Wave MMP

The temps are supposed to be in the mid 90s the first half of the week. I’m gonna Frey at work.
But right now it’s 71 degrees Ferret Height(21.667 Centipedes). Spot is sacked out somewhere.
But I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled Off to heave. Talk amongst yourself.

Birkenstocks.

Head desking while doing an olive abomination pizza?

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 14c/58f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s gloomier outside than a fucking sad handjob, followed by a sad trombone during the fucking sad climax.”

I was up, sheveled and out of the house stupidly early after yesterday’s travel chaos. I was not risking a traumatic trip into work today as we’ve got exams taking place and I needed to be sure I was in before my invigilators turned up. The dream is to have two invigilators and two students arrive in the next 10 minutes, so they can be sent off their respective rooms and everything can go on as normal. All the other exams are in centrally-managed venues so I don’t have to worry about those, and there are three online exams that start today but my Not Troublesome Minion is looking after those.

Here in the Great White North, where at this time of year one might expect a daily high to be on the cool side of room temperature, we will exceed 30°C today and tomorrow – that’s more than 86 USAian ferrets. Temps will not become seasonable again until Wednesday.

As a member of the British Commonwealth, we Canucks are required to set off exploding objects on this here long weekend to celebrate Queen Victoria, even though she’s dead. It’s one of two times a year when we get to set off exploding objects, the other being Canada Day on July 1. I’m happy to report that things have been quieter than usual. As a dog, I’m required to cower under the desk at the sound of exploding objects.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 89 and sunny. We’ll see highs in the through the week with some possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse beginnin’ Thursday. The big item on today’s agenda is men’s steak night over to the church house. Thus, beer is chillin’ and steaks are marinatin’. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time and the usual RDOS sloth as well.

shoe I am sure the pizza sauce on the eyebrow looked stunnin’ with the purply sparkly eye liner and eye shadow.

BooFae hope the exams come off without a hitch. I have vague memories of exams week from back in my stoodint daze.

wolfie hope the fireworks are not too intense. Do you Canadians not set off fireworks for New Year’s Day?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Some of the hardiest of the fireworks nuts do, but it’s rare because it’s usually so damn cold on New Year’s that it’s hard to believe that anything could actually ignite!
 :snowflake:

Why her specifically? I’m not taking a shot at her, just wondering why Victoria and none of the other royals thru history.

Our week begins with temps in the mid-90s, but highs by the end of the week could be low-60s. This is the weirdest weather I can remember. Today is starting with 64 Ferrets, so I’ve got the house open and the a/c off, but I expect those will be reversed by lunchtime.

Dental cleaning in less than an hour. I found it interesting that there was a post on NextDoor trashing my dental practice - interesting in that I’ve not had a bad experience there in all the years I’ve been going, tho it has been owned by 3 or 4 different dentists. And I do have pretty good teeth overall, so just a cleaning and go.

When I get home, I’ll be back to work in the yard - hoping to get the gravel path edged and done today. We’ll see how that goes, especially in the predicted heat. I’ll be taking lots of breaks, to be sure.

And so it begins. Happy Moanday!!

AFAIK, it’s because she’s associated with Confederation and the formation of Canada as a unified country in 1867, which she made official by signing the British North America Act establishing what was then knows as the Dominion of Canada.

It’s a popular holiday because it’s associated with the beginning of warm weather and hence the start of summer. Although it’s an official federal holiday, in the retail world it’s more a of a semi-holiday where most stores are open, but often with more limited hours.

Good morning all! Yesterday was pretty crazy and I did not get a chance to respond to all of your good wishes. Thank you all!

I suppose folks could just set them off indoors. What could go wrong with drunks and fireworks in the living room at midnight?

:sparkler::bottle_with_popping_cork:

Here in Elkhart, Indiana it’s 71F, rising to a balmy 81F later. Tree pollen is really high, bringing the usual breathing woes, but the local NPR newsguy says tree pollen also riles up arthritis pain. Oh, joyful noises!

Good morning.

It’s 45F and clear outside. Today is expected to top 65F, with a mixture of sun and clouds. The rest of the month looks to contain much of the same weather and temperatures, with a couple of days of rain included. Most certainly not May weather, harrumph.

I wish the people here showed the same lack of interest in fireworks, wolfpup.

BooFae, I hope all the exams and exam administration go well.

We left the house late yesterday morning and headed down to my son’s place. We hung out for a while, and then went to a late lunch at a place near his house. I had the reuben, which was pretty decent. He also put together a built a planter for me, which he’ll bring up when he drops off Zeus tomorrow. It was a nice day.

Maybe today will finally be the day I can go to the nursery. We shall see.

Not much else is going on for me. You all take care of yourselves!

Howdy Y’all! Remember I said last night we had a storm? Well, it was a bit more of a storm than I thought. We have a wrought iron table and chairs out by the cee-mint pond with a big umbrella that sits in a stand. The table has a hole in the middle so we can plop the umbrella in it and into the stand. The umbrella was open and somehow the wind got up under it, I guess, and blew it out into the yahd. Two of the four wrought iron chairs were also blown over. None of ‘em went into the cee-mint pond, which is a very good thing. The umbrella is fine and will now be either down or removed and put in the storage buildin’ when not in use. Lesson learnt.

Wolfie that makes sense about New Year’s Eve fireworks. Not that sense and most folks who like to set off fireworks go together. Next Moanday is Memorial Day here in the USofA, which is considered to be the official start of Summer.

Taters glad you had a good time at your son’s place. Hope you make it to the nursery today.

OK, I believe we will get ourselves together and head out to the cee-mint pond in a bit.

Toofies have been examined and cleaned - I’m good till December. Then I went to Teeters to get another 5 six-packs of diet coke since the sale ends tomorrow. Last stop was Aldi for cat litter.

Once home, I changed into grubbies, set up a sprinkler in the back yard in the hopes of encouraging my clover seed, then weed-whacked the ditches in front of the house - they were looking really ratty and the growth was too tall for the mower. I’m now taking a break before heading to the back yard for gravel labor. It’s already stoopit hot and the yard won’t be in shade till late this afternoon. So I figure half an hour of work, then a break. We’ll see how it all goes.

Good morning, folks! We were up and walking this morning at the usual time. Summer is coming. It was 70ºF, and all I have are either gym/running shorts or fleece lined leggings. 70º is too cool for shorts, so I was warm this morning. Oh, wait. I’ve got some lighter leggings in my “Mollie Seekrit Stash” that I don’t have to keep secret anymore. BRB. Exchange (plus some bike shorts) complete. Man, being Out is so effing liberating. I have IRL friends who keep reaching out to see how I’m doing, and I’ve got you all. I think I’ve got this.

Looks down at house sandals and compression socks.

Looks at the pair of Birks by the door.
I guess I’m going to the Subaru dealer.

Where Doggio lives, Mid-90s is considered cool. I used to live there. Never underestimate the power of the Gulf Stream to deliver heat and humidity.

Home with eye patch. Was so nervous but it went fine. Cant wait to see tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The big thing on the list today is a dermatologist appointment.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Enjoy the goofy juice today and the pretty colors tomorrow. Seriously, go watch a sunset. Holy Moley - The colors!

They had me start clerking the leftover Saturday packages beofre loading, and I got halfway done before they sent me to load my set. Which instead of being the normal 6 light cars, was seven cars, close to 900 pieces, and the one car had it’s stuff split between 2 cage set for reasons. The the PT Sup had me run the irregs, 70% of which were mine, so by the time I got that done, I had lost an entire hour of loading. Theyn had to bring in another loader to do the one set. Then they pulled up 2 big carts to go in the one car for Wake Tech Community college. So more help was needed. It’s gonna be one of those weeks. I got gas($4.39/gal), and did my Aldi run($79, but I did buy salmon for Friday, and beef for tomorrow’s tacos). Now Spo and I are having our repective bowls of dry, flavorless bits, then I shall see if I can snooze through the painting and pressure washing. At least I won’t have Gordie barking for 6 hours stright, like when they replaced the windows.

Someone on the Internet saw this and just wrote some William T. Riker slash fic.

And she is not amused.

I suppose you could celebrate Harold Godwinson by going to the pub, and throwing darts till someone loses an eye.

i got a lot of tidying done this weekend. i did turn on the ac a few times. phila is at 90f and muggy. we are heading into the first heat wave of the year. by thursday we should have a 30 degree drop into the 60s.

suntan lotion, i hope your recovery goes well. i still find my corrected eyesight surreal.

taters, i hope all goes well with zeus.

Whoops, sorry I’m late, got distracted by a couple of other websites which led to other sites and (Squirrel!!). Then had to do the normal shopping with one extra stop (can’t find my preferred rye bread anywhere) and got my Jersey Mike’s #8 which is now resting comfortably in my belly.

In the heat wave category, it did reach 92F yesterday, but is 'only; due to get to 87F today. Rain is due Wednesday and then about a 60-70% chance for the rest of the week, which will keep temperatures moderate (I hope).

boo fae, I finally had to google ‘invigilators’ and found they are test conductors/monitors, here we call them ‘proctors’.

wolfie, happy Dead Queen Day. Hope it doesn’t get too loud.

Much like our Memorial Day, then.

Knots, take care and to reduce pollen and arthritis problems, well, you could stop breathing… :scream:

swampy, I always love those fail videos with trampolines and umbrellas blowing away in the wind, so you got to live it. Glad it was recoverable and is still usable.

FCM, glad the teeth are in good shape, my next check is in August. And take your breaks, please, heat exhaustion is not a fun thing.

Coppertone, Yay! for the eye-work, hope it all goes well for you.

And onward into the afternoon. Have a great week all.
