Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 22c/72f with a predicted high of 26c/78f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Fucking warm AF.”
All three watches were made by J W Benson in London, one of them is Victorian but the other two may not be quite so old. They will all have some value, the jeweller wasn’t able to help much as he doesn’t do valuations and he said that the people they use would give me a price based on replacing the watches, rather than what they would be worth to an antique dealer or a collector. He gave me a couple of places to try, as they should definitely have an insurance valuation.
Very true! Some people start out exasperating and never change.
That doesn’t sound like a bad thing, you’ve had a pretty busy time lately so you deserve a bit of a break.
Knots I’m sorry to hear about your cousin.
Cats can sulk when they want to, until they realise that sulking does not get them fuss or treats.
It’s still a good story, and you know where your flooziness must have come from!
That is a good point at which to say “no” to her and keep saying it. She will never learn to deal with things for herself if she has someone else on hand to do it for her. Sadly, she now seems to expect that help from you, but if it’s affecting your health and your mental wellbeing, then she needs to get on with things for herself.
Down here, it’s already very warm and the neighbours have been busy pressure washing things, and mowing/strimming things. That most likely means back garden bbq and loud trashy music later.
Yesterday was busy but productive. I went to the gym and had my penultimate session with Amrit, as the weather was so nice, we did part of the session outside. That reminded him about the big tractor tyre out there and he thinks there might be some sledgehammering next week!
I came home and got showered, then we had lunch and went into town. I took the pocket watches to the jeweller who was very helpful but couldn’t really give me the detail I needed. Afterwards, I wandered around the shops for a while until 'im indoors had done his stuff. We went home via the supermarket to get some stuff for dinner. He didn’t want to cook so we got the makings of a ploughman’s instead. My evening was spent on the sofa watching “Project Hail Mary” and “Send Help” before I headed off to bed.
Today all I’ve done is tend to the needs of cats and drink tea. I have about an hour in which to get my hair washed, and get some lunch, then I am off to the pet store for a fundraising activity. They’re have a “special rescue weekend”, not sure what that entails, but as their partner charity, we were asked to be in-store for at least six hours today. We usually hope to get enough volunteers to do 2hrs each in pairs, but it’s a bank holiday weekend so lots of people already have plans. We have enough people to cover the day, but our Fearless Leader is having to do a double shift. I’ll try to get her to sit down for most of it (she has hip and knee problems), and possibly take herself across to Costalot Coffee for a break.
