The Hell That Has Been My Life These Last Days

I came to work Monday morning, ready for my daily ritual to begin the week… check my email, read the SDMB, do a little work, read the SDMB, read another email, read the SDMB…heh. You know the drill.

But to my horror, when I clicked on my “SDMB” link, the browser just chugged and chugged then sputtered out with the dreaded “http500 internal server error”! I immediately dispatched an email to the Doper Technical Assistance Hotline, informally known around these parts as Gaudere the hauntingly beautiful. [sub]OK, she’s really not the techie, but she was the first one that came to mind. Do you blame me?[/sub] So, anyway - long rather boring story short… Gaudere jumped to my rescue and hooked me up with the brilliant Jerry the tech-God, who had me reconfigure my browser to pass subatomic IPSec traffic using a non aliased neutrino based pipe. But alas, the boards still would not come up, no matter what I tried. I began to realize the awful truth… perhaps this was a nefarious plot on the part of my boss to increase the amount of real work I accomplish?!

It was miserable! I languished two full days, never expressing MHO, never asking or even reading a GQ, never participating in a GD, nor frothing at the mouth in a Pit Rant. I thought my days of Dope-dom were over, since my only home connection to Ye Olde Internet is via a cumbersome P133 with a 56 KBps modem.

But then, to my unbridled joy, I came to work today and found that the Dope had returned! And what a shiny, new Dope too, with a spiffy new forum! All traces of the filthy “http500” demon were gone, replaced by thread after thread of scintillating beauty. My life could now resume! No explanation was needed… it was a miracle! Bless the IPU and her goodness. May her hooves never be shoed!

So now I find myself once again amongst the Teeming Millions, reveling in the rapture of the online experience.

It’s nice to be back.

Good. I thought I was the only one that was addicted.

And I thought I was the only one who read the SDMB’s during work hours. I am not alone!

Hmmm… let’s look at that.

Yep, you’re addicted! Since I average 11.5 posts a month, it looks like it will take me 10 years and 11 months to catch up with you! Of course, by then - at your current post rate - you’ll have 18,591 posts to your name

Handy will still be the reigning champ though… he’ll have 40 million, most of them the same.

No…cough…I never post at work. That would be…wrong.

I never post at work, either.

The bastards have banned my addiction :frowning:

I lurk often from work, and post frequently from my office. There’s often downtime in between patients, and if I have no other projects, I head straight for the SDMB.

I’m not ashamed.

Today I’ll be forced to be away from a computer for about five hours. I break out in a sweat just thinking about it. :frowning:

I read and post here from work every day, some days more than others. The IT guys don’t mind at all (Hey, I’m one of the IT guys! Cool!)

I never post from work…

But then again, I’m laid off!

[sub]I’m sure that my SDMB addiction had nothing to do with that, either. Even if I did used to read and post all the time when I was employed[/sub]
