Maybe late 70’s/early 80’s…IIRC somber, almost ghoulish lookin dude who either runs (or works at?) a very indie (pirate?) radio station…late night dj…Pretty sure he takes his life at the end of the film.
For some reason the only scene I remember is buddy gallantly carrying his SO out to a couch in the middle of a field as they get it on while they blast the 1812 Overture Finale (avec cannon) thingie from external speakers set up outside the station.
(or was it his own residence he aired the station out of?)
The most likely candidate I’ve found is a Canadaian film from 1973 called Slipstream. The lead actor looks like Lurch. Apparently, from snippets of plot I’ve found online, he burns the radio station down at the end, rather than taking his own life, but he does spend time in a mental institution during the film.
Could you provide a video link?
(I had no luck online, myself)
Thanks.
Unlikely, it’s a rare film, even though it won a prestigious award. Here are some still frames, though.
Awesome - that’s most definitely it. Thanks.
yeah buddy was butt-uggs as I remembered.
Cool to see the screenwriter also did Going Down the Road (which for some reason I found compelling as fuck and would gladly see for a 4th(?) time now).
