The hijack game. win absolutely nothing but your insanity...

I’m not nude.

When you’re nude, there is nowhere to conceal your 1920’s style death ray.

I get to see my favorite person Eric tonight! Woohoo!

I am indeed here… just enjoying the peacefulness and tranquility at my parents’ house. (especially since my brother’s out almost all the time) My brother and I haven’t really gotten into any fights… he just thinks I spend too much time at the computer, and should do more constructive things. Probably I should, so I go off and watch TV or read for a bit.

I just found out that one of my favorite people is actually back in town! That would be my dear friend Eric, who I used to have a crush on, let’s get that up front.

My brother asked if I had heard from him, and I told him that Eric was in Nanaimo. (that was my understanding of it) Imagine my surprise when he told me that Eric was back in town, and that he’d seen Eric twice already this week. (of course, my brother never tells me these things… why would he?)

So after much calling around between Jon, Eunice, Eric, and myself: I’m going to Fellowship tonight to see all my friends. It happens to be Eric’s birthday today, too. Probably Nathan will bust out the Chinese “Happy Birthday” song, while we all clap along to it.

It’ll be a nice distraction from my own headspace. I’ve been doing too much living inside my own head, and this will be the break I need.

I didn’t know there was a Chinese happy birthday song. Is it anything like the American one? What is the origin of the American version? When I was a kid, I learned how to say “dog-eyes” in Mandarin, solely because a friend of mine wanted me to be able to join him in irritating his sister.

Now there’s a thread topic for someone. Post the lyrics to your countrys birthday song.

Country lyrics:

something something something my pickup

something something something my trailer

something something something my ole lady

Isn’t there a country music generator? Input a theme (lost love, dead pickup, mean boss, etc.) and out cranks another country song?

Here you go.

anyone here thinks the usual happy birthday songs gets old very fast?

I’m not unpatriotic but “God Bless America” does that to me.

The one time that song really caught my attention was when it was performed as the very last encore at an Alice Cooper concert, in either late September, or early October, 2001.

I mean, yeah, I know that offstage the guy is a minister’s son, churchgoing, he’s in his youngest kid’s PTA, and even puts on an annual play (that he and his wife wrote) at said school…

But after watching him impale a baby doll on his sabre, “strangle, assault and finally behead” his oldest daughter on stage during the course of the concert (after escaping from the straightjacket she buckled him up in), and well, just being Alice at his utmost nastiest and most flamboyant…

He comes out and lays God Bless America on us.

Surreal.

Alice Cooper - love him! I had “School’s Out For Summer” blaring as I drove up to pick up my 1rst grader this year - and received more than one dirty look from the other moms. WTF?

I once had a boss (around my age) who stated that he liked heavy rock as a teenager, but he had “grown out of it.” I came very close to decking him on the spot.

So you could have rewritten an old bit of doggerel: “No more pencils, no more books, no more square moms’ dirty looks!”

Mudshark and I are planning on blaring Frank Zappa’s Jewish Princess at high volume while in the giant traffic jam that forms in the parking lot after the last bell…just to see the reactions from our fellow Springfield High Students. Eh, one of these days…

Speaking of Springfield, The Simpsons are there, ya know. I can’t figure out just which Springfield, but I’m thinking Mass. Not that it matters, of course.

A couple of years ago, the students at a local public school got to vote for a new name for the school, and the chose Springfield Elementary. The administration ok’ed it at first, untill someone clued them in about their symbol-of-educational-mediocrity namesake, then they nixed it.

There are Springfield Elementary Schools in
Florida
North Carolina
South Carolina
Pennsylvannia
Virginia
Louisiana
New York
Nebraska
Oregon
Illinois
Rhode Island
Georgia
Texas
California

Are they all in towns named Springfield?

I dunno, and I’m not googling again to check.

I am too lazy to too, I was hoping you wouldn’t be.

We are soulmates in sloth.
