Abby seems to be doing a lot of  lately, especially at her own coding.
Speaking of coding, those little buttons above the message box really help, especially the URL one, which allows me to link such pages as this one, whose opening lines you may recognize from the “Hangman” thread.
Yes, those buttons really helped me when I was first on these boards. Now, I don’t really use them anymore… although sometimes I wonder if I’ve ever really figured out coding nuances on this board! (especially when I miscode a LOT of things in a short amount of time)

On coconuts: I saw a guy on Guinness World Records Primetime husking a raw cocnut with his teeth.
On police chiefs retiring early in order to get a pension before having to take a pay cut: I hear that the RCMP officers in Vancouver are doing this too… if they retire after a certain date, they’ll have to take a pay cut. That’s all I remember… can’t give you a cite, but I recently heard about this.

There’s a web page called retireearlyhomepage.com.
I think there must be a web page for everything.
There’s probably a web page about web pages – heck, there must be swarms of them. Talk about looking into an infinite series of mirrors…
There’s even web pages on infinite series.
So, what’s your favorite TV series? Now? And all-time favorite?
I don’t have a current favorite, siince I don’t watch TV (haven’t for years), but I think my all-timer must be Star Trek: Next Generation. Although I loved Barney Miller, too.
My boys watch a lot of sports. I don’t watch much TV but I’m going to watch the survivor series with them.
Got a surprise in my mail just now. My friend John has actually mailed me a birthday card, all the way from Connecticut… I am impressed. He had told me that it was in the mail, but I was a bit dubious. (we exchanged addresses early last month, and phone numbers a couple months before that) I guess you could say it wasn’t a total surprise (like the thank-you card I’m now going to send him in return, hahaha), but it was nice.
He managed to misspell my middle name on the envelope… why he put it there, I do not know. But I’ll chill about it, and not be too upset. (although my first reaction upon seeing it was: “WHY did he put my middle name on the envelope… and spelled wrongly, too?!”) John also put his email addy as part of his address… that’s a thing that makes me go, “Hmm…” However, that doesn’t cause me any consternation.
There was a picture of aspirin in someone’s hand on the front of the card, and the inside verse read: “Get ready, I’m about to sing the birthday song.” For some reason, I found that absolutely hilarious. My first thought was, “Do you know how to sing it in Chinese?” (everyone forgets it!) But the card’s much appreciated, all the same.
A few months ago, he was going on about how his handwriting has deteriorated because of his MS. (with only one hand working right, it must take at least a bit of effort to write stuff out, I’d think) While I didn’t find it the most perfect specimen of handwriting in the world, it was (mostly) legible to me. Admittedly, all he wrote was “Sept. 17, 2003” and “Happy birthday! [signed with love and his real name, which I won’t put here]” … but I could read it. Although he didn’t put my name in the card… eh well. Not much to be done about it!
Now, it’s time to mail that thank-you card. (I’m glad I didn’t waste my money on it back in August!) While I’m out, I’ll buy some glue… and try a Subway Chicken Pizziola. (SPOZ says it’s surprisingly good)

Speaking of Asian languages, I learned a few words of Tibetan Sunday from some Buddhist monks who visited the church I attend. Their monastery is named Drepung Gomang. Drepung means “rice heap”, while Gomang means “many doors”.
Surprises in the mail are nice. Last week I received a little thank you note from one of the girls I used to teach in Sunday School. She had given a little talk and I had been encouraging and she wrote to thank me for being encouraging. I was very touched by her sweet thoughtfulness.
Well, the Survivor Series is only two months away… you’ve got plenty of time to plan for that!
I like ER, Guinness World Records Primetime, and some sports shows… bring on the hockey / baseball, man! (other sports are OK, but they don’t hold my interest)

The survivor series, started last week.
Isn’t the Survivor Series every November?
Oh wait… you must mean the Survivor: Pearl Islands thing. I don’t really keep up with reality TV that much.
Sorry… I grew up with my siblings watching all these wrestling shows. So the “Survivor Series” means that big event that they have every November. (don’t know if they still have it, as they don’t keep up with it much anymore)
I think I’m going to start a thread about whether it’s rude not to include a person’s name in a greeting card…

When my brother Mark was in first grade, the class discussion turned one day to sports. Mark said his favorite sport to watch was wrestling. The teacher, whose son was on the high school’s wrestling team, eagerly asked: “Really? Who are your favorite wrestlers?” Mark replied by naming such stalwarts of the squared circle as Johnny Powers and Abdullah the Butcher. The teacher’s enthusiasm turned to contempt as she spat: “That’s not wrestling. That’s rasslin’!”
It’s interesting how my sister got into wrestling. My dad was away at church on Sunday afternoons, and my sister apparently decided she needed something to watch on TV. (keep in mind she was only four at the time)
She turned on the TV, found a WWF show going on, and apparently was so enamored with it that she kept on watching. (long after my parents – Dad in particular – pronounced it “trash.” Heck, she even got my brother (he’s fiftenn months older than she is) into it… I was always more of a very casual fan myself.
Our friend Denise used to like following the wrestlers around whenever they came to town, though. She has pictures to prove it.

Good Morning. What’s for breakfast folks?
Hi Abby! Breafast for me is my usual – a banana and a hardboiled egg.
I had scrambled egg and toast. I looked at the banana, but it did not call my name.
