The Hobbit extended edition: Wal-Mart "exclusive" 2 disc version

So in my haste to get my hands on some Hobbity goodness, I grab the 2 disc extended edition from Wally World. Should have done some research first, I’d have found out that what I really wanted was the 5 disc extended edition. Oh well, buyer beware, it’s my own fault. At least it does have 3 documentaries on it.
Actually, no it doesn’t. The only special features are the New Zealand one, and the commentary. Nothing else. That’s strange, my disc wasn’t glitchy or anything, the movie and the New Zealand documentary are fine and play without any problems. 2 of the 3 special features listed on the box are just not there.

I took it back, they gave me another copy, which was also missing the special features, so I got a refund (on a store gift card).

Has anyone else purchased the Wal-Mart Hobbit extended edition, either Blu-Ray or dvd? Were the special features on it? I wonder if it was just some of the dvd’s or all of them. Either way this is a massive fail. I can’t figure out why they’re not selling the “full” extended edition in the first place. Plus, apparently Wal-Mart’s website has a picture of the 5 disc edition, but people who order it are getting the 2 disc version. The whole thing is a fiasco.

Wrong word. Fraud.

Posted elsewhere, but worth repeating. Here is a guide to the US extended editions:

Brian

That is farggin’ hilarious.

I am doing what I did with LOTR, waiting until all the films are out, and getting the extended cut directors addition with all the goodies except the statues/tchotchkies. All I want is movie, no dust collectors. I got that version of LOTR, without blu-ray because we don’t have a blu-ray player.

I ripped the 3 films into one long film/file/whatever and have it on my tablet. When they finish up The Hobbit, I will do that with it as well.

[I also have M, the final version of Metropolis, Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Intolerence, Hexen, and the Universal Studios Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man and The Mummy. I really like old movies :stuck_out_tongue: ]

I figure that if I have my tablet, I should have no reason to be bored - it has 1000 ebooks and just over 1000 songs and 14 audio books. I keep a Brunton solar back up and a wallwart in my messenger bag [which acts as my purse] so I won’t have a dead battery as long as I can get either to a wall outlet or a patch of sunlight.
