The Horrible Tragedy of All the Things I Can't Eat.

First of all, anything with sugar in it. That includes honey, glucose, fructose, molasses, brown sugar, white sugar, pink sugar, blue sugar, aspartame, sucralose, stevia, and any other sweet thing you can think of. Then, I can’t have coffee, tea, chocolate, or any kind of cola drink (well, I guess I already couldn’t have that, because of the sweetener.) Then, there are all these odd things I can’t have. Like millet. And paprika. And buckwheat. I’ve been cheating so I REALLY have to crack down now… I’ll just sit in a corner and eat a rice cake and cry bitter tears.

Why?! :dubious:

Yikes! What is your ailment? And what can you eat? Rice gruel?

Is this a self imposed “diet”, or is there some medical reason?

It’s a long story, but it’s basically because of food sensitivities. My doctor also suspects thyroid problems, esp. because the recent cheating made things so much worse, and I have all the classic symptoms. But the full series of tests is very expensive and I’d have to pay for every cent, so we’re holding off for now and I have a new diet list. I do get to eat a lot of coconut oil now. I like to call it “Nashville disease,” because so many people have food allergies, sinus problems, and weird mysterious undiagnosable illnesses after moving here.

But it helps to vent…

My BIL’s MIL (does that make any sense?) is allergic to something like 98% of the foodstuffs in the world. She can safely eat peach preserves and plain white rice when she’s been reacting a lot. She’s got “sensitivities” to such things as potatos, chicken, broccoli, pineapple, etc. Cinnamon gives her a migraine.

She feels your pain.
