What are foods that you don’t like but you eat for health reasons? For example I can’t stand fish but it’s good for my heart so I eat it.
Bran buds. I dress them up by putting them in yogurt, but it’s only so I get enough fiber.
nothing. I limit some of the things I love to avoid getting fat, but I don’t eat anything I hate for health (or other) reasons.
Yoghurt. I’m not a fan. But I choke back smoothies, etc, whenever I’ve had a round of antibiotics.
Whole, multi grain bread, is WAY too heavy for me, I can only eat one piece of bread, then I’m done. Since I don’t eat much bread, it’s not too much of an issue. (I could buy white bread but I eat so little it just goes off!)
That’s it, I don’t see the need to eat things I hate as there’s almost always another way to go, I find!
This. There are very few foods that I actually hate, and none of them have health benefits (e.g. haggis and Limburger cheese).
Based on the amount of salad greens that I throw away, I’d say that I would really like to enjoy eating salads more than I do. I guess I’m just not a fan of cold food in general. Except ice cream, of course.
Rosemary Tea, to prevent kidney stones. Tastes awful, I add sugar and lemon and gulp it down. Otherwise, I love everything I eat. I was taught to like everything put in front of me, or sit there until I learned to like it.
No. I like food. Food is such a simple source of pleasure. I was raised with the attitude that food is love. Why would I want to spoil that?
There are a lot of healthy foods I really like. I would far rather eat them, than force myself to choke down something just because it’s supposed to be good for me. Blech.
This, also.
The Ukulele Lady only eats brown rice and WW pasta, for her health. I don’t eat enough white rice and nothing else to get beri-beri, so I do what my Asian friends do and eat white rice (“Brown rice? We fed that to the PIGS!”). And I don’t eat enough white pasta to give myself diabetes, so I do what my Italian American friends do (“WW pasta? What the FUCK for?”)
I also eat lots of red meat and sausage because it’s what my Czech and German ancestors did. And a lot of whiskey and beer because it’s what my Irish ancestors did.
I’d rather die at 65 eating dumplings than 97 eating quinoa and kale.
(Kale is really good in caldo verde, though! Look it up and try some!)
Pretty much this. I can’t tell you how many salads I’ve thrown away that I brought to work with good intentions and then when it came time, I just didn’t want to eat them. I don’t hate vegetables, per se, but they are in no way satisfying and frankly, more of a pain in the ass to eat than to just go hungry. Most mornings I drink a glass of Naked Green Machine (one of those fruit & veg blends) and I really just have to swig it down because it tastes like grass. I wish I did have the discipline (?) stomach(?)to eat things for health’s sake but it just ain’t happening.
I don’t hate it, but I drink a green smoothie everyday.
The secret is to add chocolate milk powder to it. I’ve tried it straight and almost vomited.
I never specifically order broccoli, but if it comes as a side dish for whatever I order, I’ll at least eat some of it.
Broccoli.
I have been making an Herculean effort to drink green tea, but it is so bitter and unpleasant tasting that I am likely cancelling its benefits with the agave syrup I use to sweeten it.
Besides the green tea, the only other healthy food I force myself to consume is cranberry juice, due to its urinary tract benefits. It actually does help, so I will continue to consume it, but once the green tea I purchased is gone, I won’t buy more.
It used to be V8. But over the years I’ve went from just tolerating it, to craving it. Nothing like a cold glass of V8 after a good work out at the gym.
Same with skim milk. Now it’s the whole milk I can’t stand.
Nothing. I’m sure that asparagus, say, has some great vitamins in it. But I can get those same vitamins from other vegetables that I enjoy, so I do.
Though of course, this is made a lot easier by the fact that I dislike very few foods.
Spinach. I don’t like it but I long to be more like Popeye.
Toottoot!
Why eat something you don’t like? There are tons of healthy foods out there. Eat the ones you like.
eggs
Breakfast is a tough meal for me. not supposed to eat a lot of starches like cereals. Fruit is not filling and is high in sugar. Breakfast meats are high in fat and salt. not much left.
When I have time, I have scrambled eggs with salsa and some chopped veggies and a couple pieces of turkey bacon.
If I don’t like a food no matter how good it’s for me I don’t eat. I am my own boss.
