By editorial fiat. You may as well compare which pro wrestlers would win in a fight by using their fixed matches as metric.
Psh.
Funny thing is, the much maligned “Blue suit energy Superman” could easily defeat Hulk. He could drain the gamma energy easily, reverting Hulk to Banner.
isint that kind of “press the magic button” and defeat the other guy?
Yup. And Supes has the magic button and Hulk doesn’t.
Every fight either of them has ever won has been by ‘editorial fiat’. They’re fictional characters. It comes with the territory.
Ignoring what’s actually happened on the page is like comparing pro wrestlers by saying ‘I like Kidd better than Austin, therefor Kidd kicks Austin’s ass’.
It was not up to the writers and artists of the vs issues who won. The orders came from the editors of both companies. While editors can guide issues, much more freedom is typically granted to creators for non-permanent changes like death, disfigurement, etc. that would impact future in-continuity issues or require a retcon.
I’ve got lots of what’s-on-the-page in this thread.
boring… terms of story telling
We’re arguing basic attributes and stats, not historical outcomes (none qualifies.) So, who’d win in a real brawl on the street, Sena or Big Show?
Addendum: stick and run (or fly) do not count as legitimate fighting techniques in a duel. You run or stay at a safe distance, you lose.
Game of Thrones spoiler reply:
Bronn the sellsword engages in a trial by combat fight with Ser Vardis, using hit and run and evasion to tire Vardis out before dispatching him with relative ease.
“You don’t fight with honor!” - Lysa Arryn
“No…but he did.” (gesturing towards the dead and rapidly descending opponent he just killed) - Bronn the Sellsword
I thought that Superman threw Chemo into the sun in Superman #342, but I could be wrong.
