The "I guess I'm the first one up" MMP

Happy MMP! It’s still Monday morning where I am too, thank goodness.

My daughter just called me from the laundry room and is feeling too tired to go to the grocery store. I can’t really go by myself - I won’t be able to get many things if I do. Maybe if she rests up a bit, she’ll be able to go. We don’t like going out in the afternoon - it’s just too HOT then, and there’s not enough shade along the way. LOL

Speaking of hot, it has been right hot here, but now it’s the monsoon season - yesterday we got a bit of rain, but it was all rather quick and dried up rapidly. We need the rain badly, although not too much too quickly in the burn areas. :frowning: There was too much going on yesterday - thunder, etc. - for me to get to the pool, so I’m hoping to make it there today.

I think we’ll be having teriyaki chicken wings tonight. Must remember to pull the chicken out of the freezer, though!

Have a great day all.

That’s great.

My only ‘news’ I posted the recipe for at the tail end of the last MMP. I like it, my parents don’t really.

Been working hard to get ready for RenFaire this weekend. I still have to get my bloomers finished. I’ve got an embroidery project to work on while I’m there as well.

Supposed to be up over 105 heat index here. Thank God for AC.

Due to a fast moving B.A. storm, the power was out at work juuuuuust long enough for the place to heat up. So I came into work, where I usually am cold, wearing long sleeves and it was warm and humid. Might as well be outside. Fortunately it’s cooling off now.

Monday blurf.

I’m back! The Dope isn’t blocked at work! (At least for today.) And my new analyst is up to speed enough that I actually have time once in a while. It’s amazing. And I just signed a time-off request for the first time. It’s weird being the boss!

Thanks for the LOL, rosie. I hadn’t seen that pic, and I love it.

I’m behind in everyone’s news… what are you doing in Albuquerque, herbs? Can you provide a synopsis of your news, shiny cat? Anything else that I missed while I was gone?

Culinary Boy and I just got back from a two-hour wander around downtown. It is **HOT **today. I must’ve sweated off about three pounds.

Have any of y’all seen Fax Cat yet? I can’t remember if I’ve posted that here or not.

 I just posted a yummy recipe for ginger lemonade and pointed out that that’s an altered recipe that I haven’t completely tested (in that it calls for two limes and I’m not sure if that’s too much or not enough).

All this weather talk got me curious… Well, here’s our lovely forecast.

Mon 97° Feels Like: 112°

For our green thumbs, found this neat link on Mediterranean Gardening today.

Hi** taxi!** It’s good to see you again.

Well, it seems I’m the winner of a grand prize for a drawing I didn’t even know I had entered. Actually, I was automatically entered via use of my store club card and buying a certain product.

It’s not really my prize until husband and I sign and send in notarized afadavits and we have to do that by the 18th. It’s a nice enough prize, although I’d rather have had the cash. Unfortunately, they don’t do cash conversions. I don’t really feel like I can say anything until all the paperwork is done, but will be sure to fill you in when I can. I still need to talk to my husband about it anyway.

I am tired and I don’t know why.

Everything kind of hit the fan last week. My family sank to new depths of dysfunction, such that I received an apology from the Patriarch himself. I have never known him to apologize for anything, ever, so that was somewhat momentous.

I am now looking for a new job in earnest. There’s lots of tough competition out there, but I do have an edge: I currently have a job.

Hello! : waves :

Last week was a busy week in the new job. This week is more of the same but I still hate it. But at least I have a job so I am grateful for that.

We went and cleaned the new house this weekend. According to the leasing agent the house had been professionaly cleaned - no way had that happened. And no way have the carpets been cleaned either so I have someone coming to clean the carpets on Saturday. Next on the list is get someone to come spray for bugs. I don’t do bugs or spiders and there were lots. : shudder :

In other news 9 working days til vacation!

::Whimper::

Home, thoroughly exhausted. I didn’t fall asleep till after 1 this morning, and the alarm went off at 5 - I don’t do well with less than 4 hours of sleep…

I had my exit interview with the CO and senior civilian today. Told 'em what I thought about a few things (don’t worry, I was diplomatic) and they took notes. We chatted about half an hour and I made sure to say really nice things about my boss, because I  him very much - as a boss, of course.

**FCD **doesn’t feel much like eating which is good because I don’t feel much like cooking - I’m thinking it’ll be a 'mater sammich night for me -I loves me 'mater sammiches.

And it’ll be an early bedtime for me, too. Hope I can last till 8 at least.

Incidentally, lieu, you should move into my neighborhood when you retire and we can hang out and chase kids off our lawns!

Happy Monday!

Nice!

Hi Taters! It’s good to be back.

Good luck with the job hunt shadow. And the family stuff. Sounds… interesting.

It’s been in the 90s and humid here too. And the automatic thermostat wasn’t set right so our house was 82 when I got up this morning. Ugh.

For the foodies in the group, this recipe for grilled lasagna is amazing. We’ve had it twice in about two weeks. And Smitten Kitchen’s lighter-than-air chocolate cake is also awesome. I made that Saturday. I’ve been wanting to try it, but it calls for a dozen eggs, and that’s hard to justify. But KT visited a friend on Friday, and she has chickens and ducks and sent him home with a dozen eggs from each, plus I already had 10 eggs in the fridge. So with 34 eggs to use up, it suddenly seemed to make sense.

The Health of the Spaz Family Update:

My grandma’s in the hospital with a broken foot because some genius at the nursing home thought it would be a good idea to take her permanent cast off and she fell. My grandma’s in her early 90’s so that’s not good. Word from my uncle is she’ll be back home in a week.

Meanwhile my cousin with the brain injury has been home for three weeks and she’s eating real food again. Here’s the latest update from her husband.

This has been The Health of the Spaz Family Update.

Now we can hear what fax cat was thinking

ShinyCat: a technical question. Would you happen to know how an Amurrkin men’s shoe size of 10 1/2 translates to Oriental size? I want to order a set of Kung Fu slippers, and I have no idea what size I wear.

I wear my old TKD shoes around the house, and they’re absolutely shot. Kung Fu slippers appear to cost considerably less…

Howdy Y’all! Poke tenderloin, fresh snap peas, mac & cheese and rolls for dindin. 'Twas nummy! I grilled the tenderloin with just a little liquid smoke and some kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. Tender, juicy, smokey… just right!

Sorry about your grandma Spaz but yay for your cousin!

Good luck on the job hunt shadow. The family stuff does indeed sound interestin’.

ShinyCat the lemonade recipe sounds yum. It needs to go in the blog.

mmmmmms I have a bugman for that very reason. I do not want creepy crawly critters in da cave.

MOOOOOOM big juicy mater sammiches that you have to eat while standin’ over the sink are one of the best parts of summer. MMMMMMM…

Taters I bet it’s a pony!

Ok, off to snoop around a bit.

Later Y’all!

Not even close, Swampy! :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck with job hunting, Shadow!

I’m sorry about your g’ma,** Spaz.**

Oh what the hell, it’s not like they told me I couldn’t spill the beans. Of course, this is all dependent on my getting our release and eligibility affidavits back on time and them not finding any reason to disqualify us:

We’ve won concert tickets, a flight to any city in the lower 48 states with a LiveNation concert venue, a one night stay in a hotel, concert merchandise and a gift card. It’s worth a pretty penny.

Apparently, because I bought Coke products last month, and used my club card, I was automatically entered. I never win anything, so I’m kind of shocked, really.

I’m sure there will be restrictions on which concerts we can go to, and I’m curious to see what they are.

Howdy all. i’ve had the worst day of my f$%^king life today but this made it all better. Glad Monday is almost over.
