**swampy **- I’ve got the plan all set for the shrine - I just need to execute it. It’s gonna be a busy weekend…
I just dropped off all the computers at coworker’s place - he said he’d get the files back to me on Monday or so. I’ve waited this long, another weekend won’t matter much.
About time to knit the evening away. The windows are open, so there’ll be cool sleeping - yay! At least for a few nights. Till Summer returns.
Sorry the job continues to be annoying,** mmmmmmmmmm**. Hope things find a way to settle down to tolerable soon. Or that you find a better opportunity very soon.
Hello All, Well tomorrow is Firday finally. Rough week for me. I manage a Vet Clinic as one of my side jobs. The Army sends a Vet and a Tech down every other month for 3 days. We do wellness checks, shots, heartworm tests, etc. We run two treatment rooms with clients every 20 minutes. So we see about 100 dogs and cats in the three days. I love me some dogs and cats but not so many so often. I’m glad that’s over for another 2 months.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 90 degrees and a 60 percent chance of rain. I’ll believe the rain when it’s fallin’ upon my haid.
Stuffed yikes! That’s a lot of critters!
Welcome back Ruble! Forgot to say that yestiddy.
It’s Firday! YAY!!!
I need me some more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed, NOW! Then irk purtification must commence. Woo and Hoo.
Afternoon, all! Happy Friday too - I am so glad it’s the end of the week too. It’s been not very busy and rather boring here but in some ways that’s a good thing because it means nothing bad is happening.
I’m on holiday next week which is even better! I’m taking my mother down to Sussex and Kent where we have family graves, she wants to visit and make sure everything’s ok with them, and take some silk flowers to one of the cemetaries, and a lavendar plant to the other one. I promised to take her this time as before she’s been on her own and it has been a bit of a struggle for her to get around with all the stuff she’s needed to take with her. And it gets me some extra brownie points, right?
'im indoors finishes his contract next Friday so he will be moving back home again and hopefully he will start to get some ideas and quotes together for the back garden as it’s long past time when something should be done about it. I’m looking forward to him being around as it means Ophelia will have him to stalk all night and she might actually let me get some sleep.
Shadow is concerned about my diet - yesterday he brought me a mouse and this morning he came in with a baby bird. When I saw him with it at 5am it was whole. By 6.30am, it was unzipped and partially plucked, and he’d left it on the half-landing for me. What a generous mog.
Things one does not want to hear concerning one’s paycheck. Ok it’s only one thing but here it is:
ANNOUNCMENT OVER INTERCOM
“If your paycheck has been direct deposited it will not show up in your acccount until at least mid morning. Payroll forgot to make the direct deposit on Thursday.”
Ok, no biggie for me cause even though I do have direct deposit, nuttin’ is bein’ taken from my account this mornin’. Others, however, have decided that this is a sign of the Apocalypse. Jeez people, just check your accounts around tenish.
Oh well, what’s an office without some drama right?

“If you received an actual paycheck, please do not cash it before noon.”

Yeah, that’s Run, Do Not Walk, To The Bank Time.
I remember those heady days, where there’d be a mad dash at lunchtime after paychecks were handed out to get to the bank and cash 'em before the payroll account went dry.
Is prednisone half as bad as some people make it seem? Just wondering as the neurologist has me on it for a week-long trial.
Speaking of which, the current suspicion is scar tissue at the surgical site has crept up and is pressing on the nerves, just like the exploded disc did a couple of years ago. Going in for an upright MRI next week to get a better look at things. Nifty machine - I thought the main point of the upright MRI was that it’s better for claustrophobic types, but for me, the benefit is that it’s scanning my spine while it’s actually weight-bearing.
Had a blast from the past last night for repast. Avast! Say that ten times fast! I was at the store and came across a bin of wonderful crisp green beans. Something flashed immediately in my head: “We have bacon at home! Make green beans and bacon!” I haven’t had GB&B in probably 20 years, so no idea where that came from. Who cares? They were delicious!
I must toddle off now to do some sword shopping. At the moment, this one’s at the top of the list. I’d really like this one, but $750 for it and its sheath is just a tad out of budget. I kick myself that I missed out on one on eBay about a month ago that went for about $240.
gotti - I’ve been on a different corticlesteroid, methylaprednisolone, (brand name Medrol), for more than 12 years and never had the reaction I had to prednisone. For some odd reason, “they” stopped making methylaprednisolone in the 4mg dose, so the doc switched me to Prednisone. I was bloated and my joints were swollen like nothing I’d ever experienced before. But everyone’s reaction is different.
eta - I am now on the brand name instead of the generic methylaprednisolone, so I am back to what passes for normal
gotti prednisone is notorious for makin’ people swell up like Rosie said. However, several people I know swear by it, so it obviously does some people some good. Let’s just hope you’re one of 'em.
My payroll deposit hit the bank 45 minutes ago. Yay! There’s a branch of the bank the company uses a block away. Part of me wants to string up startin’ line tape at the front door and get a starter’s pistol to fire at noon for all the people who receive actual paychecks who I just know will be lined up at the door ready to run and cash paychecks.

Like this guy, I’m fluffy enough. Don’t need to add puffy!
Found one would-be sword seller who doesn’t really grasp the idea of “make an offer” - they might be willing to consider an offer of $20 less than the listed price. Oh well. I’m not in a rush, and if I do find myself unarmed in October, there will be at least one sword vendor at Faire.
Yes. I didn’t swell, but my heart raced, and I was all jittery, nervous, couldn’t sleep, etc. Something like drinking about a gallon of coffee. Fun times.
Where’s doggio?
Sorry about the job mmmmmmmmms.
Congrats on retirement, herbs!
I don’t feel like doing the work that’s on my list for today. Yippee.

PS – What do you want the sword for? I may know someone who knows someone -----

As a member of the Royal Guard at Faire, I need to arm myself. We’re trying to get away from the 10-foot halberds as they really are a hazard with things like shop signs and trees overhead.
We could almost get away with a dummy hilt glued to a scabbard, but we do a salute at weddings and the King and Queen do knighting ceremonies, so a practical sword is needed for that as well. As you can tell my the links I had earlier, I’m after something fairly basic. Most of what pops up on eBay is wrong on a multitude of levels - polished chrome, katanas, fancy filagree, and whatnot just won’t (heh!) cut it . At most, a hand and a half with a 28-32" blade is what I desire.
The coolest thing just happened at the dentist. I took Dad in for a cleaning, and while we were waiting this little old lady comes in and sits down. She says to Renee the receptionist, “That man sure looks familiar.” Renee said, “That’s Dr. Jack Lastname.” She walks over to him, gets down in his face and says, “You don’t recognize me do you? I’m Smokie M.” Then she kissed him full on the lips!
Turns out she’s an old, old friend starting from over 50 years ago! She and her husband and my mom and dad and the rest of a huge group of golfers used to play in tournaments all over south Texas, and had parties and gatherings. I remember her very well!
I invited her over for dinner next Saturday. Her and her “designated driver,” her daughter. Dad was her daughter’s dentist way back when, too.
It is such a small world!
Now - what can I make that goes with red wine? Sorta fancy, but not too difficult. Hmm.
