Have a lazy day
Spend a day not having to tell my kids NOT to do something
JEALOUS. The next entry on my bucket list under the week in DC is another trip to London, with money this time. I want to actually go into Westminster, not just drift around the edges. And the British Museum. Loves me some British Museum. And myfavorite painting in the world lives in London. Did I mention JEALOUS?
I think he gets a steely.
Hey, one of mine too. It was at the Tate last time I visited but apparently move to the NG now.
Oz never did give nuthin’ to the Tin Man that he didn’t already have.
I suppose it’s physically possible to enter every museum within a week, but I don’t know how much you could actually see. The museums on the mall alone can take more than a week themselves, if you’re the kind to read all the stuff at the displays and take time to look at things. Branching out from there will require *lots *more time.
I’ve been thinking I need a day or two in DC - it’s been ages since I’m done the tourist thing. I’d like a day just to wander thru the National Gallery, but my spousal unit gets bored with that. Last time I had a chance to spend uncontrolled time there was in the early 80s… yoiks!
- written by bike outside. Although irk is being 'specially irksome today. My new (to me) ‘puter won’t boot. I discovered this over the wickend so I prepared for it today. Im typing this from a spin bike in the gym. I must be a pro athlete b/c I’m gettin’ paid to irkout!
- Get a good drunk on, though that may change this weekend if she drives.
**Lieu ** the Tin Man already had a “steely”?
Ah, Tin Man; now that was a GREAT Halloween costume. Story later, from a real keyboard.
Good morning all and a happy Monday morning too. Yeah, I’m smiling, and it’s not just because I’m retired, so there.
I’d like to go an a real vacation too, something I haven’t done since the mid-80s, when I visited my brother who lives in the SF Bay area. That was a wonderful vacation, I had a great time. And I’d like to eventually get back to CA one, no just to the Bay area but to southern CA as well. And woot to Doggio, who does begin his vacation tonight, I guess? Hope you have a great time!!
I made eggplant parmesan yesterday, using already prepared eggplant cutlets, and boy was it good! I’d make my own, but it’s a bit too labor-intensive for me, so it’s nice to have this handy shortcut method.
Hope everyone has a good day today.
It’s now 4 degrees above freezing and it’s sunny and windy outside.
I got my nap in and now some instant soup.
Then I will get cleaned up and get ready for Sah-kid to come home so we can head right out.
He probably won’t want to, he’s more of a hermit than I am.
Date. Building a potentially lifelong relationship - not to be confused with just getting laid. More the whole going somewhere with someone and showing them a place you like, a band you enjoy, a experience over and over again. Yeah - I can do the same kind of stuff with the Old Wench and I do ------- but it just isn’t the same thing. And yeah - I got female friends I can do some of that stuff with (Stephie, my “zombie wife” or Erin, my “biker wife”) but again, its just not quite the same.
FCM - any information on cruises to England? There is something going on there next summer I want to attend but my legs and long airplane trips just ain’t compatible any more.
N.O.L. is et. DA bear is happy. I know y’all were worried.
WetOne except for the pesky flight across a large body of water, that sounds like a vacation I’d like.
The tin man would get a stiffy.
**kopek **- here’swhere I do my cruise research, and I’ve just gotten on thismailing list also. Unless you have a month or more to spare, you’re going to have to either fly there and cruise back, or vice versa. Near as I can tell, the Queen Mary does NY-LONDON-NY circuits, with other ports in between, but they’re month-long-ish cruises and Cunard Line looks to be very formal - like dressing for dinner and all that. Great if you’re into it.
We’re hoping for one like thisin July or Aug 2014. And we’re thinking about extending and doing some land tours while we’re there. It’s all a matter of $$$ for me. Mom’s loaded, so she doesn’t care.
Are we really supposed to get that much snow Wednesday!!!
About 6" in SMC, according to the maps. Still too far away for a really good prediction.
As for me, I’d rather it be rain.
Crap - this morning on channel 7, they said our little county was probably just going to get rain. I am not amused.
It is beautiful today. Sunny with a high of about 70. I never thought I’d say this but I do not want any snow or rain in the near future.
Roy G. Biv says it best…
BLURF!!
We had lovely sun today, so I went down my allotment, and finally finished painting the shed (after hunting down shoeboxes). Was just sitting and relaxing in the sun, when I heard a cough- looked up, and someone was standing under a tree on the other side of the fence, who appeared to be staring at me. I think it was the resident creepy guy- either that, or someone with a very similar build, and an identical hat. Damn.
I haven’t seen him in ages, and I hoped he’d gone. At least he appeared to have his pants up this time… I can’t help thinking he must have a pretty boring life, to get his kicks out of watching me paint a bleedin’ shed.
Oh well, juggling tonight, and hope I haven’t caught lurgy from my housemate.
That might be harder than you think. Most Vegas hotels make you go through the casino just to check in, or go to any of their restaurants. (Want to go to Carnegie Deli at the Mirage? It’s pretty much in the middle of the casino.)
They’re claiming we’re going to get some sort of winter precipitation tonight. What that means is that Madison County will get all the winter precipitation while we in the Swannanowhere Valley will get a dusting and nothing else. That’s the way it’s been all winter.
Played basket-ball. For like 20 years.
Which I finally did do this evening with a few other guys from work. My body was not amused… (I mean, totally winded after 5 minutes? What am I, some almost-50 YO geezer?! Oh, wait…)
**Nuts **-- sorry about The Return of the Creep.
A few more thing I’d like to do someday… Go on an Ocean Cruise. Like Kopek, feel the Excitement of the Chase again…
**Emily **-- the beach is a 10 minutes walk from my home. Come and visit
The last time I played basketball was about 5 years ago. I did it in full bunker gear and wearing an SCBA. It was a firefighting class about gear and air packs. We played until our air ran out, which took about 20 minutes, and couldn’t quit until the bottle was dry.
It doesn’t quite fit the OP because I’ve never done it before, I’m gearing up to backpack this summer. I’m planning on my first trip being about 60 miles of the C&O Canal trail, hopefully just before Memorial Day. My newest mid-life crisis in full effect, because backpacking is something I’ve always wanted to do, and with my advancing age and even faster advancing arthritis, I decided it’s time to get it done now.
