There are lots of things I haven’t done in a while, some of which I would very much like to:
Visit San Francisco
Go Horseback riding
Go Bowling
Go to a ball game or a concert
Oh, heck! Anything except just going to work and coming home!
BLURF
So, what haven’t you done in a long time that you would like to do again?
Happy Weekbeginning
I haven’t been on a girlie night out for ages, one of my friends travels a lot for work and hasn’t been around for a while so next time she has her feet on the ground for any length of time, there will be a night out involving wine, Thai food and grumbling.
Haven’t been horse-riding for years either, nor done anything particularly exciting. I think I need to get out more. Oooh! I’m going to Paris on Thursday! Does that count?
I haven’t gone bowling in a while. Of course this week there is one thing I’m definitely doing that I haven’t done in a bit(take time off), and one maybe thing I haven’t done in a bit(a date). T-minus 11 hours 47 minutes till vacation.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a chilly 26 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 63 so warmer than yestiddy. By next week we’ll have highs in the upper to mid 70s.
Thanks for startin’ us off Rosie! I haven’t been on a cruise in a while. I want to go again very much. No, we did not cruise on Carnival. The cruise I took on Royal Caribbean was really great. Mayhaps next year for the 60th bday celebration.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants food. Then, 'tis Monday, alas, so irk purtification must commence.
Good morning - it’s freezing but the sun is coming up and the sky appears to be temporarily cloudless, so yay! Idiot dog peed on the comforter ON THE BED last night, so I had to wash it, and I hung it out on the line to dry and air out. It should be fresh and ready to come in by the time we get home. Meanwhile, Higgs is on The List.
Since supper overflowed and made of mess of the oven, **FCD **scraped out the worst of it, and we ran the self-clean cycle over night. Damned thing beeps when its cycle is done and it doesn’t stop by itself. One in the AM, I was fumbling around in the kitchen trying to figure out which button turned off the beeping. I am not amused. But after we get home and I take a wet cloth to the interior, I’ll have a clean oven, so there’s that.
**swampy **- Holland-America has three trans-Altantic cruises for cheap - 13-16 days, $499-$599 (and not a whole lot more for verandah cabins. Of course, you need to fly back from Barcelona or Rome and they depart the last of March or the first week of April, but hey - cheap cruise! If my sweetie wasn’t such a poop about cruising, I’d be packing right now! Oh well, But like you, I’m thinking cruise for my 60th (which coincides with my mom’s 80th) - we’re looking at the British Isles for 12 days next summer.
As for things I haven’t done in a while that I want to do… I think I’d like to go back to the Keys for a week or so. It’s the only part of Florida I didn’t totally hate. I’d also like to do Second-Saturday-of-the-month-breakfast with my friends in FL - I haven’t been to one of those in almost 9 years. And while it hasn’t been ages (tho it seems like it) I want to get back into my gardens - c’mon spring!!
I haven’t had a real vacation in a long, long time – and I’ve got one coming up in 20 days! I’m going to spend a week (by myself! No kid! No husband!) in Vegas with my sister, who lives there, and my goal is to not set foot in a casino. The menu of things I haven’t done in a long time that I hope to do while I’m there includes poking around in as many weird antique/flea market/junk stores as we can find, hiking in Zion National Park, and seeing a blue sky with temperatures above 50.
Getting ready to bike to work. It is a very chilly 17 degrees, but it’s supposed to warm up to the low 30s and be sunny, so the ride home should be grand.
A friend and I were talking about Washington, D.C. last night. I’d love to do the touristy thing there again. I haven’t been for at least 10 years. And then we could have another Mumpfest while I was there!
I got just over 2 hours sleep last night. I guess all that sleeping over the weekend is coming back to bite me. I’ll probably crash in a bit, or at least I hope so.
Breakfast is peanut butter and crackers cause that’s all I have the energy to make.
I never did make it to the store so today it is, go shopping, taking Sah-kid to get his glasses that he will never wear anyway.
Things I haven’t done in a long time that I’d like to do again
Ride a horse - although getting my fat ass up on one might be a chore.
Live by myself - and that could be coming soon ::crossing fingers::
Take a day and just drive to where ever and do nothing when I get there
Get totally wasted - although it probably won’t be much fun and I’ll regret it the next day
Paint - as in the Bob Ross way I suck at it but it’s fun anyway
Go to a really nice restaurant, the kind you have to get dressed up for

Two weeks at sea on HAL in a veranda cabin for $699? That’s a righteous repositioning rate if I ever saw one. (goes to check their site…) Awww, and it’s on the Eurodam?! She’s a sweet little* ship. Not terribly child-friendly, but that’s a plus to me.
Four years young, with a passenger capacity of 2100 makes her a wee peanut compared to the massive hantavirus hotels like the Disney ships.
I’m thinkin’ more on the lines of a seven to ten day cruise. Somehow I think more than that and I’d start to hate it. I do know that five days didn’t seem like enough, so I judge from that. Right now it’s just all an idea in my haid. Then again the last one started as a semi-drunken discussion of never havin’ had a midlife crisis that turned into the idea of a cruise seemed like a good way to have one and three weeks later, we booked a cruise for the Fall. Heh. Maybe I’ll bring it up with OYKW, JDD and Partner after a couple of martinis.
I’d like to go diving again, I’ve not been in too long- and I’d like a boyfriend, I haven’t done one of them in too long either
Anyway- today I will mostly be hunting shoeboxes; they don’t move fast, but they appear to be unexpectedly good at hiding. I need about 8 by friday, and I only have 1 so far.
Rosie, I shall put Red Rock at sunset on our “to do” list! I know it’s not too far from my sister’s house. I’m hoping maybe I’ll get to see some of the desert in bloom.
I haven’t had a bad movie night in a long time. I haven’t had a social outing of any kind in over a year. I haven’t had a good hike up the mountains in several weeks. At least one of those things is scheduled to change soon.
One of the top things on my bucket list is to spend a week in DC and hit every museum while I’m there. This needs to happen.
Something else I haven’t done in a while is laze about all day and not even get dressed. I’m still in my robe and don’t plan on changing that today. So there’s something off my to-do list! (And no, cooking day does not count as a day off. I have to pay attention to something.)
Sounds like something everyone hasn’t done in a while is take a real vacation. Add me to the list. I’m going to LONDON in May for 2 weeks. I’ve been there twice before but in the 1980s so I’m guessing things are different. We’re renting a house. Got tickets to see Clapton at Royal Albert Hall. Celebrating my birthday with high tea at Brown’s Hotel. We might go to Paris for the day. I will be broke but this is the vacation of the 21st century for me.
I also haven’t been horseback riding since August 1 2012, which doesn’t sound like a long time but that’s the day I officially retired my horse. I miss riding my horse. It makes me sad to think I’ll never ride him again.
On a brighter note, I ate a box of Girl Scout Do-See-Dos over the weekend. I forgot how nummy they are.
I haven’t played in the percussion jam sessions on the mountain. Or been to the beach. But those are both summer activities, so I’ll have to wait a while to do them.
Snow skiing, haven’t been in a year now and I miss the heck out of it. Looks like it’ll be another season before we get another chance… bummer.
Apparently I haven’t gotton on my knees and done yardwork in awhile either because I sure am sore from it today. I joined the landscape committe for my neighborhood, which has caused me to read about and attend quite a few gardening seminars lately and that’s inspired me both to try some new plants and to go completely organic in my yard.
Yesterday I dug a circle 3’ out from several of my tree trunks, got on my knees and pulled all the grass out from within the circle and then laid tree mulch within. It was pretty amazing to see what a mat of roots existed, all taking away from the nutrients and water available for the trees themselves.
I also have begun applications of corn gluten, dry molasses, compost tea, humates and (soon) ground corn to the lawn. I think it requires a lot more effort up front but should actually make maintenance easier later on, not to mention keeping a lot of chemicals out of my yard and the water table. It’s a lot of effort now, but enjoyable and nothing that I would call “work.” With the weather we’ve been having it would be near criminal not to get out and enjoy it to the fullest.
