The [i]Office Space[/i] Appreciation Thread

Okay–in this thread, poor Duck Duck Goose is thrilled to the very marrow to discover that there are other fans of the epic cult hit, Office Space. She must have felt so alone, isolated as she was in a sea of
non-Office Space enthusiasts.

I loved this movie. God, it feels good to be a gangster. I don’t know why on earth Office Space wasn’t a box-office smash. I don’t even remember seeing ads for the film.

Who else here thought Office Space was [Lumberg voice] greeeaaaat [/Lumberg voice]?

[Milton]E, excuse me, I believe you have my stapler[/Milton]

One of my favorite movies of all time. Nothing I can say does it justice.

Ummmm yeaaaaaa, I’m gonna have to go ahead and agree with you here. I’ve seen Office Space about 100 times, the first time being in the theatre, and I own it on DVD

“Hell, Lumberg fucked 'er!”

[sub]ps - it’s damn it feels good to be a gangster[/sub]

Recently bought the DVD. It’s one of my favorites, partially because it’s so much like my work life (or rather, what my work life was like before I started working nights) that it’s scary. The scene at the beginning where they are stuck in traffic? Filmed on the same highway I drive to work on every day. The long walks through the parking lot once you get to work? Been there, done that. The layout of the lobby of the company he works at? Same as where I work, right down to sign placement. Cube wall layout? Yep, the same. Eating lunch every day at places like Chilis? Heh heh, well, no waitresses that look like Jennifer Aniston…

Mike Judge has a real knack for capturing what it’s like to live in the DFW metroplex. King of the Hill has our suburbs down pat, Arlen is the spitting image of Garland. Beavis and Butthead reminds me of the stupid stuff me and my friends did growing up in Mesquite. Office Space portrays our tech industry perfectly.

A friend of mine is just like Samir when he drives.

Badtz Maru, that’s like some trippy parallel universe shit, man. Hey, I won’t tell nothing about your money laundering scheme. We’re cool, man.

Good movie… only saw it once in 99, want to see it again. I love the soundtrack

Bob: Looks like you’ve been missing quite a bit of work lately.
Peter Gibbons: Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve been MISSING it, Bob.
Peter Gibbons: It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s that I just don’t care.

While I wait for Juniper200 to get in here and proclaim “no-talent assclown” to be the greatest phrase in the history of the English language, here’s my favorite quotes:

“I don’t want to go to pound-me-in-the-ass prison!”

“No way, dude. I don’t want you fucking up my life too.”

“Peter! Channel 9, it’s the breast exam!”

And the scene with Lumberg boinking Jennifer Aniston’s character while holding a coffee mug and mumbling, “yeeeaah… greeeaat… oohhhhh…” - priceless.

Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays!

I’ve only seen it once, but I have to buy it! Just the opening scene of the drive to work has gotta be worth the price of the DVD.

<puttin’ on my “Oh!” face>

Cavewoman and I do so LOVE this flick! It was filmed here in Austin, and many of the driving scenes seem to be along Metric Blvd. (home of many Dell offices and our former residence!).

This is a truely great movie… truely truely.

“You want to see some flair! There! How’s that for flair! That enough flair for ya!”

(OK, that was a paraphrase, but I love that part.)

Kinda wierd watching him in The Practice now… everytime I watch it I think of Office Space.

hmmm… feeling a sudden urge to go destroy the copier. If I could just find my stapler…

Well, clearly it is the greatest phrase in the history of the English language.

Thought I’d add:
Peter: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I’ll tell you what I’d do, man, two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter: That’s it? If you had a million dollars, you’d do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had a million dollars I could hook that up, cause chicks dig a dude with money.
Peter: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well the kind of chicks that’d double up on me do.
Peter: Good point.

Dewey that’s the most obvious dialogue!

My fave part is when Rob L. is lying on the couch all bummed out and asks Lawrence if he can come over through the walls.

Peter: hey man you awake?
Lawrence: yeah, man, yeah
Peter: can I come over dude?
Lawrence: no way man, I don’t want you fucking up my life dude.

That part cracks me up EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Ron Livingstone was great in Band of Brothers as well.

My favorite parts. The too cheery receptionist who sits next to him. “Corporateaccountspayable… please hold. Corporateaccountspayable… please hold. COrporate accountspayable… please hold”.

The cake thing was great too. I always weasled my way into 2 pieces.

ahhh, Badtz, you shoulda waited…they are coming out with a Sepcial Edition some time next year, I beleive.

I love this movie, also.

“PC Load Letter…what the #$@% does that mean?”

edited since we are not in the Pit

I don’t like work… I don’t think I’m gonna go anymore…

I love that movie with all my heart!

I love this movie. The part where Mike lowers his radio as the black guy walks by made me LMAO. Mostly because that’s exactly me, and I’ve actually lowered my radio when black people are nearby. I also say “'sup G” all the time. Hehe.

My boss also is just like Lumbergh. He walks around with his coffee cup (with a BMW logo on it though) and says “How we doin” and stuff. I wonder if he ever saw the movie.

I have the DVD, and I watch it regularly. It’s one of those movies that I laugh at every time.

In the words of Lawrence (aka Oswald): “F’n A, Man!”

This movie is the most underated movie ever!

Michael Bolton ha ha ha ha!

I just wish I had the balls to gut a fish in my cubicle.

Funny you should say that. Even after watching all ten episodes of ** Band of Brothers, ** last night when he was being a dick, I turned to ** Gerbil ** and said “Office Space is a dick!”

That’s just how I will always, always think of him and refer to him. During BoB, I was saying “Office Space is becoming a drunk!”. etc…

Great movie. Stephen Root was brilliant.
