You know that game kids play on long car rides? The one that goes something like " I went to the beach and brought…" then they list various things people have said plus their own up through the letter they’re up to at their turn. Person E would need to remember the list up until that point to say " I’m went to the beach and brought: an apple, a brat, a cat, a doorand an earwig"
I thought it might be fun to play that here after a fashion. Let’s pretend we’re listening to the radio for this game, and our task is to list the first song we were exposed to by an artist. (you didn’t actually have to have heard it on the radio, of course, but it should be the first song you remember hearing by the artist.) When it’s your turn, you pick an artist or band (either the first word starts with that letter if it’s a band - articles excepted- or the last name of an artist) who starts with whichever letter we’re up to, and give the single you first heard.
But, instead of “remembering” what the people before you said, you fill in your own first song by the artists they chose before picking your artist and listing the single. I think it would be interesting to see who was exposed to what first, too
Try to remember to underline or bold your artist and song so it stands out, please. And yes, you have to repeat the sentence before listing your responses too, just like people force you to in the verbal game
Oh, and feel free to take more than one turn, but don’t change your previous answers, of course. If people like this, we can start another round(s) once we get to artist/band Z.
" I turned on the radio and first heard: Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos .
(Aren’t we supposed to be pulling the other responses before adding our own, and also changing the songs to songs we know by those artists? This is gonna be hard…how many Commander Cody fans do we have here? )
“I turned on the radio and first heard: Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos, Bye Bye Bye by the Backstreet Boys, Riot in Cell Block #9 by Commander Cody and the Last Planet Airmen (thank you, Google!), and Black Celebration by Depeche Mode.”
Hmmm. This has been more complicated than I anticipated. Looks like gallows fodder got the idea, though. Shall we try another childhood tatic, and call for a do-over? (Please try not to pick really obscure bands so it doesn’t keep others from playing. If I promise not to pick P is for Possum Dixon, don’t pick C is for Neco Case)
