the idiots look on the war in israel

please, nobody take this personally…this is mearly an observation made by an idiot.
(also please note that quotes used are translated from an icelandic source so it might not be 100% accurate due to translation…we have all seen how english-french-english babelfish translation works.)
what is happening in israel? why are there hundreds of people dying?

i cant really answer this question accurately, but what i want to say is accurate enough!

there is no reason in the world capable of excusing the slaughter of hundreds of people in israel, or for that matter anywhere else on the globe. no matter what reasons you come up with they arent good enough! today you cant even point a finger and say; “its his fault”!

some might compare the israeli policy to the southern-africa appartheid policy, except the israeli use helicopters and missiles.
i mean, there is discrimination based on your race and religion…

Rafael Eytan called palestiniens “cockroaches in a glass jar”, Menachem Begin called them “twolegged beasts” and Ehud Barak named them “crocodiles”, basically they are using an old technique…pretending the enemy isnt human so he is easier to slaughter.

this war is also waged in the media, while the news are different, the israelis generally get a “good” coverage, why is that?

isnt it time to put an end to this war? simply allow people to live where they want to. name the country istina or something like that and quit killing people.

bj0rn - excuse my generalizations when i mention the nations in this post, of course this does not apply to them all, only the ones that “rule”.

Hi. Nothing really to add here again, but I’d just like to be the first person in the thread to mention that the sky is blue.

Cite please.

I disagree. It’s sort of a grey overcast color, with a bit of blue peeking out. I strongly object to your narrow, offensive version of sky color and demand a more inclusive one. I believe that, in the same vein, this story where a school has banned Mothers Day as not being inclusive to non-traditional family structures is a shining beacon to inclusivity!

Therefore, I demand inclusiveness in all things from sky color, to holidays, to the right of short, hairy men to play jazz while wearing tutus!

Yes, war is bad, but this particular war has been going on for 3000 years now, and yes, it’s “discrimination based on race and religion”, like so many other wars. Not only have the Israelis been shooting at the Palestinians, the Palestinians have been shooting back. There’s been a lot of death on both sides. Even the wisest heads of state have been unable to come up with a solution. What would you suggest?

“Simply allowing people to live where they want to” won’t work, because both sides want to live in the exact same space, and neither side seems willing to share.

Eh, I haven’t noticed that the Israelis get “generally good coverage”. If anything, I think that within the last 20 years or so, the media have generally begun to be more sympathetic towards the Palestinians, who after all were just living there, quietly minding their own business, when the Zionists started moving into the neighborhood.

Back in the 1970s I seem to recall most news coverage concerning Palestinians always having the word “terrorist” in there somewhere, and focusing on Yasser Arafat and “hijackers”. But now they use the word “settlers” or “citizens” or “residents” more often. Purely subjective on my part, of course.

Isn’t Mother’s Day on a Sunday? What next, banning summer?

Duck Duck Goose, I hold you personally responsible for this thread. You’ve really opened a can of w0rms.

Ah, bj0rn, what a sweet rant- “Can’t we all just get along?”

(funnier if you’re from LA)

Perhaps reading some of the other threads about this issue would help you to form a more educated opinion.

I shouldn’t even bother to respond, but I’m weak and foolish. bj0rn, did you know that maps in Palestinian school textbooks don’t have Israel on them? That the children are taught in school that they will push all Israeli people off into the sea and take all their land? They do not want peace, and they don’t teach peace to the next generation.

I for one am against giveing any special rights to hairy, short jazz musicians. I mean, I have nothing against them, some of my best freinds are jazz musicians. I personally think what they are doing is immoral, but as they say, love the musician, hate the music.

Hey, I consider this progress! A year ago, all he could do was yammer on about “sarcasm” and “irony”, and now here he is, actually expressing an opinion! WTG, Bj0rn!

Our little Viking, all grown up… [sub]sniff[/sub]

Next year, we’ll work on the caps thing.

some guys at a local radio station called up a person in israel the other day and asked if the palestiniens shouldnt be invided into the eurovision song contest, since the israeli are already participating…why arent the palestinens?

i can imagine the look on the poor unlucky israeli face when he said: “i dont know, im just an israeli, a person like any other palestinien. who knows what those politicians are doing.”

oh, and come on…“all want to live in the exact same space…” as long as there is no army minding everybodies buisness and politicians calling everybody cockroaches they will get along fine in a few years.

bj0rn - why not?

So, you’re saying that if the army and the politicians would just butt out, the Israeli and Palestinian peoples would get along just fine? Hmmm, it’s an interesting theory, but I seem to recall that the offspring of Isaac and Ishmael were quarreling long before there were armies and politicians to blame for getting them all pumped up. If two children both want to sit in the same chair at the dinner table, they don’t need an army or a bunch of politicians to make them quarrel about it–they can do that just fine by themselves.

Why shouldn’t the Palestinians participate in the Eurovision song contest? Is it only open to “people with a state”? I thought “Palestine” WAS a state. Not exactly?
