I usually don’t go barefoot anymore because there is a spot in the kitchen that will pinch your foot if you step on it. I was pretty blurfy when I let the dog out and wasn’t paying attention.
I have much to do and so should be doing it instead of playing around on the puter.
Howdy Y’all! Da cave is spiffed and I have won my war with Dell. Go Me! New ‘puter should get here by the end of the week along with a shippin’ label to send the old one back. Thus I have had my RDA.
Pat[sup]2[/sup] glad you’re feelin’ better.
giggity I envy you not at all.
MetalMouse I know what you mean re favorite jacket. In my case jackets. One is a light weight I’ve had for over twenty years and the other is a suede I’ve had for around ten years. I cannot imagine life without both of 'em.
Enchilada casserole (OLÈ!) is made and ready to be baked at the appropriate time. Refried beans, Mexican rice, and toppin’s of lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole shall complete dindin. 'Twill be good.
Ask Ruble, that’s called field dressing 'em.
This morning got in a flight, & some post-flight champagne, a run, & found out the outlet maul has a jerky store; nothing but various kinds of jerky & a few obnoxious t-shirts.
I do NOT need any more t-shirts & I didn’t have any moolah on me as I left my wallet at home when I left at dark:15 this morning.
Since J2 decided to share his respiratory crud with us Imma gonna go shower & then lie down for a bit. Iffn I get up early enough, there shall be cheesecake for dessert. Punkin or Grasshopper???
The potluck went well last evening. We’re mostly pretty good in the kitchen and tend to coordinate around the host’s main course. In addition to the apricot glazed pork roast and carrot soup, there were bacon roasted Brussels sprouts (I know swampy ), butternut squash, a spinach salad with mandarins and almonds and a nice apple cake. One of the homebrewers in the group brought a good stout and a raspberry ale. A former professional baker brought her saffron buns. I was stuffed.
I’m spending baker’s day off at irk. Getting things done. Tomorrow, I’ll be leaving early to get the tires done on the car.
The sprog and I went to the Farm Show, where the pork producers had a napkin that says “Thank a farmer. Because bacon doesn’t grow on trees.” It’s my current Facebook user pic. I thought of you when I picked it up, swampy.
Tomorrow’s culinary delight is going to be pot roast. OM NOM NOM!
I stopped for sour cream and some swiss cheese because those are required garnishes for spud soup. I grabbed a ham steak, too - it’s big enough for 2 meals. Yum!
Busy day - good thing I had my alarm set - I’d have kept working! The very idea!!!
I got a sack of Yukon Gold N.O.T. for the first time and used them to make the soup. I’d read that they have a buttery flavor. Maybe if you serve them covered in butter, but not in soup.
It’s good soup, make no mistake, but not at all buttery…
I like Russets for soup 'cause they’re starchier and help thicken the soup.
I like Yukons or Reds for other things though, like potato salad, or garlic potatoes & eggs. And they are a little bit buttery, depending on your definition of ‘buttery’.
I’ve gotten precious little done today, although I did take a shower. that was a good thing. I’m trying to get up the enthusiasm to pay some bills, even though they can’t really get mailed until tomorrow. I know, I know, electronic transfer. But these are bills like my credit card bill, where the amount I send them varies according to how much money I feel like giving up in any particular month. If I manage to get that done, instead of screwing around on the innertubez all afternoon, I wanted to go get a Sunday paper, and while I’m out, put gas in the pickup, if I can find a place to move the Suburban to so I can get the Ford out of the driveway.
Then I wanted to mop the kitchen floor, and Wifey says we oughta go to the Martin Luther King ‘celebration’ at the Cultural Center. (the Cultural Center is across the street and down one block) I’m not real big on ‘celebrations’ as they usually involve speechifying and appeals for money, but I was/am a big fan of Dr. King. Hmmmm.
Oh, and I did make jambalaya for dinner last night and there’s so much left over that it will probably be dinner again tonight. How gauche!
I need sumpin’ to improve my physical condition & make me feel better; Imma thinkin’ a bullet. (Flytrap, don’t get too excited, I only said thinkin’ 'bout it.)
Put it this way, you know those retired Ringling Bros elephants? One us now sitting on my chest; at least it feels that way, & I think she brought some fever with her from my shivering.
I thought you were supporting a Giant Meteor! I’m eagerly awaiting it’s arrival. Really. When’s it due again?
What? 77? What? Good grief. You could use your cee-mint pond with those temps. Well, I never.
I say leave them. Good to hear from you! Good luck this week.
Trick question? Grasshopper, of course.
I have always heard that too, but I think it’s really just their color. I’ve never noticed a buttery flavor. Their consistency is closer to a red N.O.T. than the Russet. That’s about it.
My Dr’s office called today because I’d been to the E.R. I told them everything that had been going on, they asked about my current symptoms, and then said I had to go back to the E.R. I ended up in tears and said I would see what I could do and hung up. Fact the 1, my husband’s out of town. I do have an aunt who could come over, but it’s a several hour drive. Fact the 2, I don’t believe, and I told them this, that they will do anything different than they did on Friday, so what is the point? My Dr’s office said that my symptoms meant I needed to be checked out immediately at the E.R. Same as it was Friday. I’m not going to spend hundreds of dollars to sit around for hours to get benadryl again. I currently hate all medical professionals everywhere. Such is life.
Enchiladas (OLÈ) have been ingested. We have leftovers for both of us for N.O.L. tomorrow, so Win-Win! Still warmish out (73 Amurrkin) so da cave windows are still open. Life is good.
{{{Spidey}}} yes, even you get hugs, feel better soonest.
The turkey is out of the oven, and has cooled enough that I have dismembered it. All the usable meat is in the fridge, and all the skin, scraps and bones are simmering away. I put it all in a big pot, with plenty of water, and will leave it on all night. I’ve made a note to remind me to turn it off before I go to work early tomorrow morning. I’ll strain it and put it in the fridge, and when the fat has seperated and firmed up I’ll scrape that off and put the stock back on the stove to reduce it by about 75%. Day after tomorrow I’ll have the best turkey gravy in town, poured over the rewarmed stuffing, with some meat on the side. Wednesday is going to be great!
Sunny, I’ll pray for your restored health. If your doc says to go back I’d consider it though.
I don’t have an elephant now, but I think I did. All that coughing is (mostly) gone but I have bad pain in my right ribcage. Based on what some folks have said I may have cracked a rib. It’s hard to take a deep breath. I have some hydrocodone left over from a while back, I’ve taken a couple, and will have another just before I lay down for the night. It hurts to turn over in bed. This sounds odd, but I’m more comfortable standing up straight than lying down.
Cupcakes I know, it’ll sound odd, coming from me today, but talk to your doc. You can actually crack ribs from having bronchitis or pneumonia or just plain old coughing too much. They may want to bind your ribcage. You’ll be more comfortable. Promise!
Spidey while I’m wallowing in hypocrisy, you should probably see someone too. You sound very ill.
