The improvised MMP

blurph…
I can’t seem to shake the feeling that I haven’t slept in a month. In truth, I’m probably sleeping too much. I just feel so weary.

I had a nice weekend. My sweetie and I went grocery shopping on Saturday then settled in at home for a long day of City of Heroes and documentaries. I few hours later, I realized that I had been in the process of de-greening the fish tank and it was time to change the filter cartridge (stir up the green, let the filter take it, then change). So, I took out the old one and threw it away. That’s when I realized that the last pouch of charcoal wasn’t where I had left it. I searched and searched but couldn’t find it. So, I drove ALLLLLLL the way (5 minutes) to the pet store to get filters. Then I went to put the new filter in the tank and lo and behold, I found the last pouch of charcoal. It was on the back of the tank, right next to the filter. :smack:

Anyway, on Sunday, I slept way too late and then I went to Reactive Dog graduation at the training center. The 4 dogs in the class made such HUGE improvements! Petey has improved enough to be in a regular class with other dogs! Kato not only was much less reactive, he has discovered a love for performing tricks. He might be joining Petey in freestyle classes soon! Della was great AND our trainer actually found a treat that she will respond to so her people are thrilled. The biggest treat was Athena though. The cute little beagle couldn’t even enter the training center with one other dog in it 7 weeks ago. Now she can play and sniff around and do tricks, even with 3 other dogs in there! Her daddy is also much less tense with her, no more leash yanking and Athena seems to be more relaxed because he’s more relaxed. She still howls at other dogs but much less frequently and it seems almost like she’s doing it out of habit, not because she is irked.

I loved the chance to help out in this class because it’s so much easier to see the improvement when you’re not focusing on dealing with your own dog. I arrived early so I could see the new puppies in the puppy class and there were TWO corgis!!! I could barely contain my excitement! One was a cardigan and had the hugest ears I’ve ever seen on such a little dog. She was so cute!! Our trainer was amused because she knows how my sweetie and I feel about corgis but she reminded me that I promised myself NO MORE DOGS!! She suggested that I come to puppy play groups so I can play with all the doggies but not feel the need to get one. I will if the corgis go!

After graduation, I did some homework and then played City of Heroes with my sweetie. We’re back to watching Charmed. He wants to see how it ends. He’s so cute.

BooFae: I’m envious. Have a fabulous week for all of us. Also, you have my assurance that **FCM **speaks the truth about souvenirs. What more do you need? :stuck_out_tongue:

Doggie graduation sounds like fun, cd - I know someone came up with a clever nickname for you in the last MMP, but beats me if I can remember it.

Am working on organizing stuff in OneNote as I clean out the office. This is fun. Yes, my idea of fun is kinda strange.

Hugs all.

Pretend this is at the end of reason for editing:

I don’t think I posted it, but this little stretch of road was part of my commute when I was working. Glad I don’t have to deal with that - I think the detour would have added 10 miles or so to my trip. ugh.

Just because I’m futzing around for my class-

here’s a very cool link about parasitic fungi. Really it’s cool.

That was so cool! Oh yeah, it’s also insanely creepy too. Ugh.

Just a question, because I suffer from sleep apnea and I felt like what you describe for over five years.

Do you fall asleep almost every time you sit still? Do you snore loudly or snort awake (stop breathing) when you sleep?

I definitely don’t have sleep apnea (it took over 10 years but I finally got my sweetie into a sleep study and now he’s been on a CPAP for over a year - it’s bliss for me).

Unfortunately my problem is that I’m fat, lazy, and out of shape. I am also sleeping way too much.

We’ve been improving our diets by trying to eat more balanced meals and I’m trying to not spend this entire semester sitting at my desk, like I did for the last year. My whole body is tight and tense after that. I’ve been trying to stretch out more and play on the Wii more (Punch Out and Just Dance).

What I need is a healthy diet (hence the reason for the Nutrition class - I don’t need it for my degree), more exercise, and less sleep.

I had been taking a normal dose of OTC sleeping pills each day, to counteract the insomnia. When I realized that I was actually sleeping too well, I cut the dose in half. I’m planning on halving it again starting tonight. I need to get it to the point where I can actually fall asleep and stay asleep - but for only 7-9 hours a night.

It’s been a weekend of lots of little things.

Took the dog for a bath
Fixed a squeak in the serger - it was utterly packed with lint and needed a couple drops of oil.
Cooked a delicious dinner of slow-roasted Boston Butt Poke.
The serger decided to repay the service by blowing its light bulb.
I’ve now discovered how scarce light bulbs are for Viking sergers.
Friends were over on Saturday with their little furry beasties. DH is in serious thoughts of adding a puppy to the house.

Supposedly, once can make a few bucks now and then by offering purebred male dogs for <ahem> services. Anyone familiar with this market and chihuahuas? I’ve heard that a few minutes of fun for the dog can be worth $1000 to us. I’ve never thought of pets as investments, so the idea is weird, but if the beast can pay for its own food that way, who am I to argue?

I’m not looking forward to tomorrow. Just the idea of a needle long enough to reach the center of my neck is giving me the heebie-jeebies.

Just now getting up?

I can’t say I’ve seen Boston Butt Poke on a restaurant menu before. Is there another name for it?

I’ve pulled apart my poke chops, added more BBQ sauce and a chopped onion, and tossed it back in the oven. While I was out running about, I got some potato rolls, so we’ll have some yummy sammiches for supper, with a side of sugar snap peas.

**FCD **is home and napping - he’s in so much pain. I almost wish he’d go for surgery again. Poor guy.

Nothing else exciting. I did a little tidying, but not much. My heart ain’t in it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably just roast pork.

Too bad it’s not more common as it really is delicious. The only “trick” is that it’s slow-roasted so the fat renders and permeates the meat, making it very tender. Needing 3-4 hours in the oven probably makes it unattractive to restaurants.

Isn’t Poke raw fish? Whyfor you people cooking it? Is there another kind of Poke?

I just finished my Nutrition homework from last week. The trouble with finding out I have 2 days more than I thought is that I wait those extra 2 days. I have Spanish class tomorrow and I feel like I’m forgetting to do something because this professor doesn’t assign homework (what kind of professor doesn’t assign homework?!). Not having anything to do is screwing with my tiny little brain.

Poke is Mumperspeak for pork, so poke roast, poke chops, pulled poke… I’ll blame it on **swampy **since he’s a southern boy… I guess it didn’t get into last week’s thread.

Shortdrum it’s poke, the other white meat! Comes from pigs and hawgs.

Howdy Y’all! Home and soon to be off again for Vestry meetin’. I talked with OYKW who offered to bring me some Maryland Fried Chikin but declned as I’m still stuffded from Taco Bell N.O.L,. If’n I do feel like eatin’ sump’n later it’ll be a sallit. Urf!

Ok, need to get some stuff together and take off toward the church house.

Later Y’all!

P.S. BooFae do go on a rum cruise whilst in Jamaica. Not that I would know personally, mind you, but I hear they are quite fun. <insert angel smiley here>

**Mooooooooom, **linky requires rejumistrashun.

ETA: Is it MD 234 near Budds Creek? I’ve heard rumors around the offices…

OOohhhhhh…THAT poke. I see. As a nearly lifelong resident of MA, I am ashamed that I didn’t understand that. After all, we are known for obliterating our r’s whenever possible. Actually, I’m not. My mommy dearest spanked me every time I talked like that.

**BBBobbio **- yeppers - I put it in my photobucket. Sorry - didn’t know that other photo required a registration.

Had a very small Dopefest on Sunday. Otherwise just hanging out.
