The improvised MMP

I don’t recall anyone stepping up to the plate to start off today. If someone did, and I stepped on their toes, tough tuna.

I got nuthin. I had a weekend of low productivity and even less social redemption. I did manage to mow the very swampishly squishy yard, do some minor household cleaning, the laundry, washed some dishes, and picked another metric buttload of cayenne peppers out of the garden, but all that accounts for roughly 5 of the 60 hours that were my weekend. The rest of the time can be attributed to the pursuit of sloth and the overt avoidance of the 9-11 anniversary coverage on the tube.

How was your weekend?

Hi all!

OMG what a few weeks I’ve had! My semester started back up, and as any of you who have been following the incredible drama that is my life (haha) I am now department chair. And hubby is living M-F on LI. Plus, and adjunct who teaches a section for me had a baby right before the hurricane and I was covering her classes for a few weeks. So, for the first few weeks of school I was teaching 18 credits, instead of my supposed to 6. Mostly at night. With two kids. And no second parent. And all the chair admin stuff that swamps you the beginning of the semester.

Oy.

I wanted to cry, and cry I did a few nights that started at 5 am and ended at 8:30 pm when I got home. Then helped kids with homework, evening stuff etc. Not the end of the world, but I was lonely and not happy.

But now it’s back to normal!!! Had a great weekend and am so looking forward to an easier less of a time sink (relatively…) week!

Huzzah!

Thursday: discovered that my cellphone didn’t wanna work in Chocolateland. Guessing I should have activated roaming before leaving, will have to do it I guess.

Friday: interviewed. Two interviewers: his questions were of the “tell me about the History of Spain” kind, hers were to the point. If I do get it, it turns out to be not so much “lots of travel time” as “on location in several different places”. Since I always work on location, that’s fiiiiine by me. Plus, the two Spanish locations I’d work at are Valencia (which is always nice except in the deluge month) and Bilbao (close to home and I speak the culture). Took the opportunity to visit Gant (hadn’t been). Discovered that Dutch, like German, has a word which covers please, thank you, excuse me and you’re welcome.

Saturday: very nice weather, lazied about Brussels, spent some time in one of the chaisselongues in front of the cathedral just watching folks go by.

Sunday: back home. A nice Mexican couple I met and helped at the airport gave me a bag from Australia that I’d liked

Blurf.

Had a good time at the Santana concert on Saturday. Later I’ll post some pictures.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Needless to say already up, caffienated and at irk. ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and niiiiiiiiiiice. The high will be 92. Thus we go from coolish to needin’ the a/c.

Today, I am goin’ to large and in charge Thomasville to meet with a group of senior citizens about open enrollment for Medicare. Then I go to greater metropolitan Cairo, Jawja (pronounced Kay-ro) for a home visit. Tonight I have Vestry meetin’ at the church house. Bzzzy day!

This weekend I irked on Sattidy. Sunday was deheathenization followed by N.O.L and a nap. This was followed by major sloth for the rest of the day.

Happy Monday Y’all!

I OD’d on 9/11 stuff Saturday, although much of what I tuned in to were programs offering perspective and info not previously released. There was a fascinating article in our paper too about one of the two pilots who scrambled their F-15s to intercept flight 93… without any weapons on board. The lead was going to ram the cockpit and she was going to crash into the tail. Fascinating story. But then by Sunday, yeah, too emotionally taxed from it all so it was NFL all day long. Lots of surprises there.

Mornin’ all.

I’m up, I’m up! Finally…

It was nearly midnight when I finished treating the cat pee spots on the loveseat. By that time, I was feeling icky-sticky, so I decided to shower rather than just collapse in bed. I tried not to disturb my sweetie, but he came in to find out what was wrong - nothing, I was just dirty! Some time between 1230 and 0100 I finally fell asleep.

**FCD **set his alarm pretty loud and he ignored it for a while, so not only was I awake, but I was getting ready to check his pulse when he finally dragged himself to the shower. After he’d left and the idiot dog barked to go out, I collapsed again for about 3 hours. So here it is, just after 9, and I just finished breakfast. What a slug I’ve become!!

I found some poke in the back of the freezer, so that’ll be supper. I’ve got a note to call and make a Dr appointment, since I’m almost out of meds and have no refills. Today will probably be a house-cleaning day. Much clutter has accumulated, so I guess I should attack it. If I have any energy left, I may attack my studio - it’s a bit of a wreck also.

It’s cool and loverly right now, but I fear I may have to seal up the house and turn on the air before the afternoon is over. C’mon autumn!!!

Happy Monday, anyway.

Good Monday Morning Y’all. I’m up and so is my weight! oops, I enjoyed my weekend a little too much. Did some recipe testing. The food networks newest star, Jeff the sandwich king, has a roasted butternut squash sandwich in the current issue of Food Magazine. It was tasty, but the onions overwhelmed everything else. So, less onion, more squash.

I had an odd Sunday morning. Slept in a whole half hour and didn’t get up until 4:30 a.m. Man, slacking I tell ya. Anyway, between laughing at the dope and crying at the dope and the Tv, I felt like I was in the midst of some sort of Manic Depressive episode. Up, down, happy, sad…So, I went outside and stacked wood. I stacked over a cord of wood and boy oh boy, can I feel it in my back today.

I think we might be done with the heat. I should not complain at all because we have had a very mild summer here. But I too am ready for Autumn.

I hope you all have a good Monday.

You stacked a cord of wood yourself? Color me impressed! I had help to move and stack half a cord a couple of years ago, and my back still hurts a little… OK, not really, but that’s a lot of wood to move. Thanks to all the trees downed by Irene and the subsequent flooding, I think there will be an abundance of firewood in the county this year. Still, we won’t use a full cord in 2 years - we’ve still got some left over from the last half cord.

Then again, with the price of fuel oil, we may well keep the home fires going, literally. Especially with me home all day to tend them.

Dr appt made - next Monday. I’ll go in early to have blood drawn, then at 1:30 to see Christine. Luckily, it’s not far, so going twice isn’t a huge deal. If I was still going to my other Dr, it would be a pain.

Still in robe and slippers. I should probably dress like a grown-up some time soon. Especially since I have to run an errand for FCD.

Everything for today’s doin’s is ready to go. Just waitin’ on time to go. I have a gnawin’ and cravin’ for Taco Bell of all things! Thus N.O.L. shall be at the TB in T’ville. Gotta admit those five buck box thingy’s they have are kinda tasty. It’s a secret shame.

Tahrd. I plan on spending my day going through my boxes of books and listing what I have. This is both for informational purposes and organizational purposes.

I don’t know if I mentioned it last week, but Irish Brother and his cousin and I went to see Terry Brooks at a reading/signing last Tuesday. Mr. Books is a personable and witty gentleman.

Glad things are looking up, Soapy.

Ow, Surprise, that’s a lot of work!

I saw that story, too, lieu. I wish more coverage had been like that.

Am about to head to the local diner for breakfast. It just sounds good this morning. It’ll get me some steps in, get me out of the house and give me a chance to read for a bit.

My weekend was not very eventful: napped, played games online, read, watched tennis, went for a couple of walks. This is the fourth day of my weekend. My sinuses are a little bit unhappy and I still have a little bit of a cough, but I’m feeling fairly close to normal again. Would like to get some decluttering done in the office, if possible. I’m hoping to tear apart and repaint soon, so decluttering needs to happen first. Maybe I’ll attempt to revive the dinosaur (1998 PC) and make sure I have everything from the hard drive backed up. Then I could wipe it and go drop it off at Best Buy. That would free up lots of space.

Off to have breakfast.

Hugs all.

GT

Yes, all by myself! I was fairly impressed myself when I realized I had actually done it all. But, like I said, the old back is a bit tight. I have a horrible habit of overdoing things. We typically use a lot of wood, but this year may be different. Our life is going to change a lot here soon. We are signing a lease tomorrow on a small place and it is our intention to open a deli. (that sound you hear is my teeth chattering in fear). So I felt even more pressure to get the wood stacked since I probably won’t have much free time anymore.

I’m jealous you get to stay home all day. Retirement is the only good thing about aging that I can come up with.

Bobbio, I did my best to avoid the 9/11 coverage too. I cried enough the first time.

Hubby was at work, so he was able to watch what he wanted there. The rest of the firehouse wanted to watch until they didn’t. Then they watched football until their eyes fell out. They even worked up a pool, Hubby lost, what a surprise.

Saturday we went to Sequim to see the old folks, including Hubby’s favorite uncle, visiting from back east. A good, but very tiring day.

Sunday, I cleaned a bit, but mostly melted. It was record hot.

I’m at irk, which given my meltdown about last night, isn’t so bad. I went to 8:30 am yoga class yesterday then went to the barn to clean my horse’s stall. Stopped at the store for some fuds and went home. Ate half a bag of Wavy Lays and took a nap. Spent the rest of the day watching bad tv and kinda prepping food for the upcoming week.

With all the rain and heat this summer, my allergies are kinda acting up. My sinuses feel like someone is sticking a toothpick up there and rooting around. OWCHE.

Well, the allotment office at least sounded sympathetic… They told me I should have rang them and said when my back was bad- I did’t know it was going to be months to heal! I was told weeks… And I told the site manager.
Now have a month to sort it out, and they’re really vague about what ‘sorting out’ involves- it may just be strimming the grass. Does involve buying a strimmer with the money I’m trying to save for when my job cheques run out in a few weeks, but gaaah… Have to deal.

Bought some new pet fish to cheer meself up, tank’s been looking empty for a bit, after the corydoras suicide pact a few months back. Better go check on 'em in fact.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone! I am having a fantastic Monday, my weekend was also fabulous - I am sitting on the balcony of my hotel room in Negril, Jamaica…hot and sunny, a world away from all the cr@p going on back at home, and I am so relaxed I’m almost horizontal!

We are considering a trip on a glass-bottomed boat today, or maybe just a stroll up the beach to find a different cocktail bar…or maybe I’ll just sit here and think about it a bit longer.

Have a great week, I might not check in here again for a while so try not to trash the place while I’m gone, and do what moooom tells you!

Too cool, Scarey, enjoy your stay, don’t think about a thing in the world back home and paint the town with a Red Stripe.

Probably due to the drought this summer, corn harvesting is in full steam already, and my allergies are celebrating the dust. My weekend was full of small drama with pinpoint timing, like when I was all dressed up to go to church, and the pit upchucked all over the bed. Plan B: stripping the bed, doing laundry, and scrubbing the floor. grrrr.

**BooFae **- do be safe and have fun. And don’t forget that when you go to exotic places, you’re required to bring souvenirs for all the Mumpers. It’s in the bylaws. No, really, you don’t have to check. I wouldn’t lie about something like that.

Home from running errands. Poke is in the oven. I need to do some tidying, even tho I don’t feel like it. Housework sucks. And for some reason, FCD seems to think that since I’m retired, I have time to do household chores. As if! :stuck_out_tongue:
