Tis 224 AM and I have not yet been to sleep. Today is the first day of the month and a Moanday to boot. I will be very busy and very tired.
The reason I am still awake is the dog has a tummy ache and is keeping me up. Hubby gave him some milk and milk is not allowed. I will kill hubby later. Poor LOUIE. I have taken him out to walk twice but he just cannot settle down. This is not the first time this has happened but the first in a long time. That’s how I found out he is lactose intolerant.
So I came here to bitch and saw there was no new MMP. I hope no one had dibs.
Here’s hoping everyone else had a good sleep and has a great week.
It was a tossing and turning night for me also, capped off with a dream where I was searching and searching for my brown car. Except we have a blue car… :smack: Not a restful night.
Butters, I seem to recall reading that you should never give dogs milk. That was after I gave some to our terrier, and he got constipated something awful. I thought I was giving him a treat, but not so much. Hope Louie feels better soon.
Busy day ahead. I want to finish cleaning the carpets in this room, I need to do a load of whites, and I want to stitch and stencil my pile of towels. Plus the dishwasher needs to be emptied. I’m already exhausted!!!
Wish some of the rain would make its way here. We got a couple of minutes of precip yesterday - just enough to make a little puddle in the driveway. I’d like a shower of several hours, please. We’re showing 50-60% chance every day for the next 10 days so maybe we’ll score some rain.
Meanwhile, I should probably start my day. Happy Moanday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 and accordin’ to the weather PTB a good chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon and evenin’. We shall see.
AWWWWWW poor {{{Lucky Louie}}}! Hope he’s back to his chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah self soonest.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is hongry. Then, alas and alack irk purtification must commence. Like Butters said, 'tis the first of the month so reports must be assembled and submitted. ICK!
I too stayed up too late and woke up too early. Spent too much time surfing a website I stumbled onto last night, the ‘Unfiltered’ portion of Not Always Right. I will pay for it later on today.
Mom, chance of flash floods in the DC region today. Hot & muggy, which thinking back to winter just 3 months ago I will gladly take.
Oh if any DC area Dopers have any specific locations they know are prone to flooding I would appreciate hearing about it. I have a list of Montgomery & Prince Georges counties and would like to fill it out. Maybe I’ll start a new thread…
**Butters **here’s hoping that **Louie **feels better soon.
as much as rainy weather makes me achy and cranky, I actually slept pretty well. I love listening to the rain. I got four whole consecutive hours of sleep! {{{{{Butters & Louie}}}}}
Blurf. (((((Butters and Louie))))) - poor hubbie, I expect he will be made to suffer for what he’s inflicted on the two of you!
I had a very late night, entirely my own fault, and consequently I am tired and fluffyheaded today. Yesterday I spent the day over at my mother’s place, she managed to get herself hospitalised again last week, this time with a bout of pneumonia. Fortunately they didn’t keep her in too long and sent her home with two lots of anti-biotics to take for a week. She is still quite weak and fragile, and didn’t want to do anything at all yesterday so I did all the little jobs for her and made sure she had some lunch and plenty of fluids.
So I could have done with another few hours of sleep last night, but I didn’t get them. Perhaps I’ll go to bed early tonight to make up for it.
OK, I’m not Robin Williams, but I am feeling pretty good for a Monday.
Got drafted to referee a soccer tournament in two weeks (Area 5 AYSO). I hadn’t planned on doing it, but the local teams need two referees per team and the U10 Girls needed someone…so, on goes the uniform and badge, into the pocket goes the whistle (Acme Thunderer, best whistle ever) and back to chasing 9-12 year-olds.
Did a U12 game yesterday and didn’t mess up too bad (missed one trip, might have missed an offside), so the eye is still in the game. And despite waking up at 0440, I still feel pretty good.
In the 80’s but a chance of rain nearly every day this week.
Metal Mouse - you can keep up with 9-12 year olds?? I’m impressed. Then again, I don’t run - not since I got out of the Navy and wasn’t required to run any more.
The carpet is cleaned and is drying, as is the carpet cleaner. I’ve got a load of whites in the washer and I cleaned the cat box. So I’m taking a breather. That was a lot to get done before 9AM!
It’s alternating between clouds and sun today. It’s supposed to rain and then the temps drop into the 60s and 70s for the next week.
I woke up at 1:30 and stayed up for a while. Then I woke before 7 so I know sometime today my body is going to want to crash.
I have too much on my mind now so sleep is suffering.
Poor {{{Louie}}}
Otherwise SSDD
{{{Midget}}} I never take vacations, my idea of a good time is I stay home and everybody else go away. My childhood vacation memories suck, probably why I never plan one.
Today I will have some time to look for possible accommodations for our possible vacation. That’s what we were fighting over last night, but maybe people will be more level-headed today. I just worry that my sister is going to quit work, or else cancel her vacation time off work. I don’t want that to happen.
Plus there’s the fact that to say my dad has a hair-trigger temper would be an understatement…
In other news, I need to finish with the laundry and go to the bank today.
I propose a trayful of breakfast OJs for EmilyG’s family, with maybe a half a Xanax per glass mixed in. I guess you could also crowdsource us for accommodation ideas?
Happy Monday, everybody! It’s an absolutely GORGEOUS day outside today – after all the rains, even this hardboiled atheist half expects to see a white [del]peave dove[/del] street rat with [del]an olive branch[/del] weeds in its beak – and it’s a shame to be stuck in the office. On the other hand, I’m a bit stiff and sore from packing most of my stuff this weekend (moving next weekend! yay!!) but I got a lot done and could use a day at work sitting quietly on my butt.
Had I stopped in here last night I could have very well been first. Herself woke up with a bad leg cramp; bad enough that her reaction woke me up. The problem is she goes back to sleep very easily and I don’t. So I cut past the Dope while I waited for my brain to settle. <sigh> Such is my life; rarely in the right place at the right moment.
And hugs for Midget as well. My mothers idea of a vacation required a level of planning equal to the Normandy Invasion while my Dad’s idea was more a “lets head that direction and end up at Y sometime”. Bad things were often the result. I think that’s why 90% of our vacations were identical to the same place at basically the same time. They found one plan of attack they agreed on and just repeated it every year.
FCM, I said I chase them , nothing about keeping up with them…
I don’t run either, try to keep moving at a good walk (I’m 6’2" so I have a pretty good stride) and the U-10 are on a 80’ x 40’ field, so I can usually get to a good position to call the game; plus they tend to cluster.
U-12 is on a 100’ x 50’ field and they are a whole lost better spaced and much faster; keeping up with them gets to be a chore.
I don’t even try the U-14 and U16/19 groups. A man has got to know his limitations…
Heh, I’m actually drinking orange juice right now.
I’m going to try to find places with reviews. My sister found a hotel with mostly-decent reviews, and most of the bad reviews said things like “I only got one jam with my toast”, or that parking was bad, or other things my family doesn’t really care about.
Emily G (or Midget?), where are you considering going, and by what means (car, plane, hydrofoil, wormhole?). The best hotel info I have found is Trip Adviser, it shows hotels, costs, and user ratings/comments.
I’ve travelled to six continents, 20+ nations and 96 (and counting) airports and every type of accomodation from youth hostels to 4-star resorts in the past 30 years. If you need some (non-professional) help, let me know, sometimes having a 3rd party can help solve things (giving everyone someone else to blame).
