As for her baby, I’m not sure there is a good way to handle the situation. If she gushes over the kid too much she’s not focused on her job and if she doesn’t gush enough then she’s a bad mom. I personally don’t care to see the candidates hugging and kissing thier spouses or their kids or anyone else for that matter. It’s not professional in my opinion, and the end of the debate reminded me of a parting shot from The Family Fued.
How about her team of maverics comment, did this strike anyone else as odd?
It doesn’t seem to agree with the message of the damage control Couric interview. At least not what I’ve seen of it. How do McCain supporters feel, if it is in fact an accurate description of how a McCain administration would be run? Is this different because ANWR is in Alaska? If it’s not a slip, it sounds likea line to keep women voters on the hook, “no really John listens to me”.
Did anyone else notice she turned her accent on and off. It was off when discussing the finer points of foreign relations, energy, mortgage crisis, but she turned it on whenever referring to the average voter. Does she think we all talk like that? I grew up in Minnesota and I’ve been told by people from both coasts that I have the Fargo twang, but Palin’s accent screams yokel to even me.
And I hope it occured to more people than me that the debate looked like:
Ifill- “Research shows America is being over ridden with puppies, what do your administrations plan to do?”
Palin -“I think puppies are cute.”
Biden -“I have extensive experience working across the aisle to solve the puppy crisis.”
Palin -“I like puppies, that’s just who I am, I know the American public also likes puppies.”
Biden -“An overabundance of puppies is a problem facing America, Obama and I have laid out a plan to reduce the number in the future.”
Palin -“Unlike my opponent, I do not hate puppies.”
It’s not clear to me that this is the case. In fact, that’s the point of the OP. As far as I could tell, she had no idea what Ifill was talking about. Also, she’s far from uneducated. She went to something like four different colleges, right?
This is as good a place as any to share an anecdote. My ex works in the speech pathology department of a large childrens’ hospital. Last week she was at a conference and she met the person that was supposed to be overseeing the care for the Palin’s child. She says they have called numerous times to begin treatment but the Palins have ignored the hospital saying they are too busy!
Treatment for developmental issues like these cannot just be put off due to inconvenient timing. To make matters worse, the program that they would be taking advantage of is one that Palin was responsible for cutting in the budget so soon they won’t even be able to have these services.
I swear I heard her say something like “wipe off the face of the planet” on the nuclear weapons question. And then she switched subjects on the followup points.
Am I the only one who noticed that she can’t match the number of her nouns to verb tenses very well?
She didn’t fall flat on her face. It’s kind of sad, really, that standards for politicians have fallen so low in recent times that being Not As Stupid As We Thought But Still Pretty Stupid qualifies as doing an “adequate job”. I guess that must be a reaction to the mysterious workings of the East Coast Liberal Elite. Like if only the Illuminati weren’t mucking things up with their “affirmative actions” and insistence on the learnin’ of math and science the common folk would once more flood the gates of Harvard and MIT. Doggone it!
Anyway…I think if you were already a fan and planning to vote for McPalin, you’re probably reaching for reasons as to why she isn’t as awful as she is, if you’re Obiden, the debate merely solidified your initial dislike, and if you’re an Independent, you probably “like her” but are figuring out that she may be the trader who can sell bicycles to fish, but you’d never actually put her in charge of wealth management.
Btw, I’m in a throwaway state right now (CA, like I care that everyone in San Marino needs to tell me via yard signs that they’re voting for Obiden) but the only thing I’ve heard in Starf*cks, the elevator, and downtown L.A. is people mocking the “youbetcha!” by stating it over and over again. “Doggone it!” is also coming under heavy fire from the wess’ coast elite libruls.
Yes. The person who gave out that information should be fired*.
*ETA: Now, with less knee-jerk, “The person who gave out that information should be disciplined”. I shouldn’t assume it rose to the level of a fireable offense, although it doesn’t sound good.
Child neglect may well be reportable, but unless your ex is the right official to receive those reports in that jurisdiction, he/she has no business hearing about their medical information.
What medical info? Did you read what I said? They are refusing to get their kid treated because they have said specifically they can’t be bothered to do it. No treatment protocols, health information or anything else was disclosed.
Sarah Palin has referred to “Joe Sixpack” a number of times, and not in a pejorative manner. Any mention of it here, is basically a reference to what she said. You’re not being insulted. So why are you taking it as an insult?
Palin would have done better to use the term Everyman, but she chose Joe Sixpack to reach the working class. I don’t see where this is a disparaging term.
