My mom used to invite them in and serve them espresso, back in the 70’s, before most people knew what it was.

JWs drink coffee and have no moral qualms about caffeine.

It’s mormons who don’t indulge in ‘hot drinks’.

Some JWs drink as well. They don’t have a specific prohibition, although drunkenness is frowned upon and AFAIK, drinking is in moderation and on the down-low.

Mormons do not drink at all.

I’ve only been accosted one time. Why are there always 2 of them? Anyway, I opened my door, and there they were with their pamphlets, suits, and shiny 1950’s haircuts.
“Hi, do you believe in god?”
I smiled and said "oh good, I’m a Satanist and we have so few opportunities to learn about " <lowers voice> “The enemy”
“Won’t you please come in? I can tell you a little bit about the Church of Satan and our works, and we can compare notes”.

Haven’t seen them since.

For the record, I’m not a Satanist.

Different places I’ve lived I’ve seen both JW’s and Mormons at the door.

The difference is that the Mormons I’ve encountered are polite and leave when you politely explain that, for whatever reason, you’re not interested. And I’ve not had them return.

The JW’s keep talking until you shut the door in their face, and they come back!

We got called by JWs last night. My husband answered the phoned, suddenly looked gleeful, said he had thought about the expression “Blessed are the meek”, and I knew it was JWs, and was disappointed that I hadn’t gotten there first.

You see, earlier that day we’d been talking about the Sermon on the Mount, and the fact that ‘meek’ originally meant “controlled strength”, or 'obedient to reins", as in breaking a horse.

They had a nice chat. He told her a lot of stuff about her texts. Apparently she’d never considered the question of free will before.
The last ones to appear at our door looked really confused when I started talking about our conversion to the Catholic Church, and the five Solas on which Protestantism rests. They asked me if I’d ever read the Bible.
We love JWs. They’re fun. They always leave looking confused. And we get to be (gently) pompous know-it-alls.

Have you actually ever needed to get rid of a Roman Catholic? For all the faults of the RCC, I don’t recall bugging others like JWs to be one of them.

My Jehovah’s Witnesses story turned me off them forever:

My sister the lesbian has one biological daughter, who is a devout JW. My sister and her partner were in a terrible car crash in California and she needed a blood transfusion. Her partner didn’t have the authority to approve it. Her daughter, the devout JW, runs to the hospital and denies permission. The hospital calls me, faxes me the papers in New Jersey, I sign them and fax them back, and the transfusion is approved.

I am a raving maniac over the whole thing, very worried about my sister. Fifteen minutes later two JW’s come into my office and start lecturing me about how I doomed my sister the lesiban with a blood transfusion.

I gave it to them with both barrels. I told them if they ever came into my place of business with their shitty religion again, I would call the cops and file a lawsuit. I told them I was not a believer of any religion that would let people die rather than receiving medical treatment. I told them my sister was a devout lesbian and wasn’t going to convert.

They told me they hoped my sister got hepatitus from the transfusion and left.

I love church architecture and will often go into churches to look at them. Yes, I have been approached by almost every major religion.

I don’t doubt for a moment that you harbor deep animosity towards JWs. You’ve stated your reasons, in part.

But over the last few years I’ve noticed many posts of yours that [on factual, often doctrinal] matters you have been highly inaccurate.

Of course, I have no way of knowing whether this exchange took place or not. I have read enough of your posts (and the palpable, visceral bias attendant in them) to believe that they never said anything like that at all. In fact, I highly doubt they visited you in person at all.

I’ll concede it may have happened. I am simply saying I don’t believe you.
