The Jehovahs Witlesses called today

JWs drink coffee and have no moral qualms about caffeine.

It’s mormons who don’t indulge in ‘hot drinks’.

Some JWs drink as well. They don’t have a specific prohibition, although drunkenness is frowned upon and AFAIK, drinking is in moderation and on the down-low.

Mormons do not drink at all.

I would like to know if JW have ever really converted anyone by door to door soliciting, any time, any place, anywhere…

Thanks for the defense, runner pat. I know this information is true because I heard it from somewhere*. nods

[sub]*in my head[/sub]

I’ve only been accosted one time. Why are there always 2 of them? Anyway, I opened my door, and there they were with their pamphlets, suits, and shiny 1950’s haircuts.
“Hi, do you believe in god?”
I smiled and said "oh good, I’m a Satanist and we have so few opportunities to learn about " <lowers voice> “The enemy”
“Won’t you please come in? I can tell you a little bit about the Church of Satan and our works, and we can compare notes”.

Haven’t seen them since.

For the record, I’m not a Satanist.

Different places I’ve lived I’ve seen both JW’s and Mormons at the door.

The difference is that the Mormons I’ve encountered are polite and leave when you politely explain that, for whatever reason, you’re not interested. And I’ve not had them return.

The JW’s keep talking until you shut the door in their face, and they come back!

Jws used the term “Blessed are the meek”?

That article made me laugh. Thanks to you I’m going to Hell.

I wonder what was the last thing to go through their minds.

Probably the landing gear.

Hey Jodi, wait up!

Getting rid of Mormons (& Roman Catholics) is easy. “Why would I want to join a religion that discriminates against women?” When they say “Oh no, we don’t do that,” ask them if a woman could become a priest in their religion. When they say “No, but that’s no discrimination,” inform them “Yes, it is. You can tell me you agree with it, but don’t tell me it is not discrimination.”

They have little to say after that.

Have you actually ever needed to get rid of a Roman Catholic? For all the faults of the RCC, I don’t recall bugging others like JWs to be one of them.

*They told you that they hoped your sister got hepatitis? *

You’re correct, they don’t ‘bug others to be one of them.’

And that is one of their faults.

:frowning:

What? I don’t get it.

I just stopped associating with them. That seemed to do the trick.

Don’t worry.

The Catholics don’t get it either.

I love church architecture and will often go into churches to look at them. Yes, I have been approached by almost every major religion.

Yes, it was their parting shot as they were leaving. Good thing too, cause I don’t know what I might have done had they stayed.

Aren’t they supposed to be Christians? Do any of these people who claim to be Christians have any idea what Jesus Christ preached?*

*I realize this very thing is the subject of a current pit thread but I’m not going back in there again. It made my head hurt. … mommy.

I don’t believe you.

I don’t doubt for a moment that you harbor deep animosity towards JWs. You’ve stated your reasons, in part.

But over the last few years I’ve noticed many posts of yours that [on factual, often doctrinal] matters you have been highly inaccurate.

Of course, I have no way of knowing whether this exchange took place or not. I have read enough of your posts (and the palpable, visceral bias attendant in them) to believe that they never said anything like that at all. In fact, I highly doubt they visited you in person at all.

I’ll concede it may have happened. I am simply saying I don’t believe you.

Could you possible take the time to explain this?
