The kaboom mmp

{{Rio}} and {{Rockin’}}

Got rid of two bags of clothes, books and dvds to a charity shop, and sold the old hi-fi setup that’s been living under the bed for ages. Hopefully someone else is coming to buy my empty fish tank tomorrow. That’s a definite dent made in the stuff pile.

Good morning MMPers! I woke up and decided it was time for me to make another one of my semi annual forays into MMPerland.

I too have a bagel sitting here for breakfast Mooom, GMTA!

Good Luck Baker! Any particular pooch catch your fancy?

Messing with any wildlife is wrong, but to tie them up and stuff them in a trunk? I am so glad they were caught and will have monetary reasons to never do it again, with potential jail time hanging over their heads (I hope). Aren’t the Key Deer endangered Butters?

Sario and MsRobyn my sympathies on losing your grandmothers.

So, friends, Kaboom began for you as recently as over the weekend? I betcha it will be over in a day or two as well. I live close enough to Boom City that it has felt like living in an active war zone for the last two weeks. The Council for the “City” I live in voted No Fireworks Within City Limits and have posted signs all over town saying so. Still, the bangs and whistles will begin again this afternoon and will continue far into the early morning. On the actual day itself . . . well, trying to stay on the positive side of the issue from early evening until I feel like going to bed I will be able to watch the burning of thousands of dollars of fireworks from the safety of my deck, and if I feel like wandering around to the front of the house I will have a 360° view of the pretty flowers in the sky, all without having to spend a dime on anything other than snacks and beverages! Feel free to search Youtube for Boom City Tulalip, it’s amazing to watch that much money on fire, and explains why I am so twitchy! Must be the Scots in me, although get me into a garden nursery and silly thoughts like how much I am spending never occur to me!

Gardening is on The List for today. My daughter and I have the front yard almost finished, and I am itchy to get into the back yard, particularly the deck as that is my favorite place to be. I’ll trudge out front in a bit, even without admonishing from swampus, and get it finished. Before she passed mom gave me a pale blue clematis that I need to move, and I just bought a purple one to plant with it. I am looking for a pink to add also, I saw a photo (probably on Pinterest) of three different clematis growing together and it was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen! I am going to move the lavender to sit over the feet of the clematis to keep them cool and I am not even going to lie and tell you that I am going to clean the rest of that bed out, not today! It’s full of Herb Robert aka Stinky Bob and spiders; Stinky Bob needs to be dug out like dandelions, and I am not in the mood. I’ll get it the next time the roses need weeding. The front beds are almost done, except for maintenance. I have plans for areas of decorative grasses and sedums as well as a raised spiral made of rock or brick and planted with maybe herbs, maybe something else. If I can get a fence up I will grow veg out front in straw bales, and that will eliminate the front lawn, which, imo is wasted space. It’s grassy under the fruit trees in the back, that’s enough mowing!

Well one more cup of coffee and then I am showered and outside. waving madly it’s good to see you all!

{{{wiki}}} ::tacklehug:: My yahd goal is to not be the worst in the 'hood. You probably don’t want me to help. Dindin shall be forage and eat what you find.

Home from Mom’s. My sis is still shuffling along in a lot of pain. I told her the worst case is they cut off her leg at the knee, then she gets a wooden leg that she can decorate. How’s that for a sympathetic bedside manner??

My bro stopped over, too, so we had a nice chat. And I came home to find 3 boxes on the front porch. One was my order from Amazon (wasn’t due till Weds) plus 2 boxes of yarn from Butters!!! I love the colors! They will make for some really cool pumpkin wigs!

I also brought home 2 big bags of yarn that my mom got from AARP - good colors, so I’m going to be able to churn out at least 2 afghans and a bunch of shawls. My summer should be well occupied.

Meanwhile, chillage shall ensue.

I now am the proud owner of a Volvo wagon Complete with Prancing Møøse emblems. No kabooms yet. [Susan Ivanova]No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There’s always a boom tomorrow[/Susan Ivanova]

And it wouldn’t cost much to fix afterwards, maybe 3 bucks.

swampy, I had a similar arrangement with my downstairs neighbor in my last apartment. I would set the trash cans out in the morning before work so that she didn’t have to get out in the weather and, if they were still at the curb in the afternoon, I’d return them and check on her. Most of the time, she would roll the empties back, so I knew she may not be feeling too well if she didn’t.

nuts, to curb my packrat tendencies, I’ve made it a point to take unwanted/unused items to Goodwill once a month. I really don’t want to go through what I did last move again.

I got the oil changed, stopped at Michael’s and BB&B (where I didn’t find what I wanted) before stopping at Lowe’s for a couple of pavers, a few items for the studio from the plumbing aisle and a pot of marigolds to replace the last of the first round of tomatoes. There’s a load of clothes in the wash, the carpet has been vaccuumed and supper et. I need to go online to shop for what I couldn’t find today before going outside to watch the fireworks. They should be visible from there if the trees aren’t in the way. In previous years, I’ve watched them from a friend’s house a little ways down the road.

{{{Rio}}} I am sorry for your loss. It hurts when we lose family, especially unexpectedly.

{{{Rockin’}}} My condolences. I’m glad she was comfortable at the end. I hear these stories and I am determined to stay as fit as I can. It seems like falls are a death sentence. :frowning:

I’m thinking good thoughts for the puppeh Cupcakes!

OK - the puppy is named Pepper! She is feisty and I’m done with fussing with it. She already thought her name was puppy, so hopefully this will be a relatively easy adjustment.

We did get some sparklers and sidewalks worms. Nothing too major. There’s no fireworks for miles this year, which is fine. I thought it would be nice to do something though.

To those wishing me luck in finding a dog, this is one I’ve put in an application for. I haven’t met the dog yet, it’s in another county, but maybe this coming Saturday I can do see him.

Oscar

Cupcakes I love the picture of him rolling in the grass! I hope it works out!!!

Doggio Congrats on the new wheels.

Yes, I love that “rub my belly” look.

Three wigs built this evening - if Taz would leave me alone, I could get more done. Idiot cat…

swampy!!! I’ll ::tacklehug:: you, ya huggy bear, any ol’ day!

And ::tacklehug:: doggio!!! A fellow Volvo driver! I need a moose sticker!

I do have a need for curb appeal . Part of it is the simple enjoyment of making pretty things grow, part is endeavoring to get the neighbors to put something in a pot on the front porch at the very least, and part is because I feel happiest when I am playing in the dirt! I welcome visits from people who just keep me company while I weed and deadhead and stuff!

Oscar is adorable and I sure hope things work out and you get to bring him home Baker

I just got a text from my daughter, they are coming up to Seattle for a Mariners game, and will come up here after to watch the fireworks! Yay!!! They won’t spend the night but still . . . My kids and grandkids will be here so I can give them lots of squeezes!

Okay, break over, back to the salt mines for this old grey duck!

We had ours last week and it was a police officer and licensed pyrotechnican

Makes me wonder more than usual why I have all my fingers and toes. I met the man a couple times and he was much more careful than I am.

And does it have a nose?

Moose sticker?

Hugs to all your direction, kiddo.

Hugs your way as well.

My Gramma just about raised me pretty much. Something with the title that just gets someone in my thoughts and prayers. I know in my heart not every grandmother is perfect. But I’ll give each and every one a benefit of a doubt.

Sario and MsRobyn, I’m sorry for your losses. Grandmas can be really special, I know mine was. She was a major influence on me.

CupCakes puppeh is a cutie pie!

We shall now retire to the boudoir to watch teevee until sleepy time unless we are blasted awake by kabooms, which, surprisin’ly have not started yet.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Oscar is a cutie pie baker. Crossed appendages.

Nice ride doggio!

I’m out here on the patio watching the fireworks. I can see most of the ones that aren’t too low. I would watch them from my deck at the old place some years. Beats fighting traffic and crowds.

SQUEEEEEEE!

Yeah, it really called to me. And here is the sticker.

I found Penny walking down the middle of the street by the trailer in the woods.
I had seen a little black and white dog white driving home, started to worry, turned around, and found him run over.
Bitch Mrs. Plant (v.2.0) insisted by phone (she was at a dog show) that I not let her in the house. I fed her and she slept on the steps.
She came in the next morning.
Mrs. Plant (v.2.0) is gone, but Penny is still here.
