Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. though there could be afternoon tstorms. We shall see. OYKW took today off and since tomorrow is an Amurrkin holiday he’s off then as well. We shall N.O.L. at Chipotle because he wants to, and, well, he’s buyin’ so I’m eatin’.
The KABOOMS started last night and will no doubt be tonight and tomorrow night and who knows how long after that. As usual, I just hope the fools don’t start any fires and/or blow themselves up. There will be news stories about folks who kill themselves settin’ off fireworks as there are such stories every year. I wonder who will be the first to off themselves by usin’ a launcher on their shoulder instead of on the ground. Last year some fool was holdin’ a launcher upside down and, you guessed it, launched a bottle rocket right onto his neck thus takin’ himself outta the gene pool. I am sure some of y’all will see such newsworthy items in your areas as well. On the plus side, there seem to be a lot fewer fireworks stands around than last year. Maybe they are not as popular but still the fools will buy 'em no doubt.
OK, now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then at some point I shall purtify. I do foresee some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon followed by forage for food if’n one is hungry.
Kabooms started around here last night, too, altho not too many and not too close as far as I could tell. We never did fireworks as kids because they were illegal and, frankly, my folks couldn’t afford any. We did have sparklers on occasion, and thinking back, that wasn’t particularly smart either - handing a kid a metal stick that burns crazy hot and stays hot. But we were obedient critters, so we didn’t get hurt or ignite anyone else.
As for the big, fancy displays requiring “ooooooo” and “aaaaaah” - we don’t bother. I think the last display we saw was when we lived on our boat and there was a show in the river - we didn’t have to go anywhere to see it, so no driving and parking idiocy. But neither of us is interested and we’ll just veg tomorrow night.
Today, however, we’re driving up to my mom’s to maybe take a dip in her pool and visit with my recovering sis who’s now not allowed to be in the sun due to one of her meds. Her recovery from the knee replacement isn’t going nearly as well as when my elderly inlaws got theirs done. Granted, I don’t know all of her specifics, but I’m not impressed with my sister’s doc in this case.
I just had a bagel and I’m caffeinating, and when **FCD **gets up, I’ll shower and dress and we’ll hit the road. I’m hoping lots of people took today off so the traffic won’t be too terrible. We shall see.
Blurf, up and off tow work. Then off tomorrow, then three days work. Crazy. I’ll make an application today for a different dog I saw, at a county shelter northeast of Topeka. Wish me luck.
It lives! OYKW got up a little while ago. I dusted the guest bedroom, dinin’ room, livin’ room and study with the idea that when he arose I’d dust the master bedroom and then vacuum those rooms so I could say at least some of da cave is defilthyfied. I went into the master to dust and mentioned that I had dusted the other rooms and would vacuum shortly. A couple minutes later I heard the vacuum start up. Bless his heart he vacuumed the guest room, hallway, study, livin’ room and dinin’ room while I was dustin’ the master bedroom. He even vacuumed in there when I finished. I told him he didn’t have to do that but he said since he’s responsible in part for slobbin’ the place up (his words) he could at least vacuum. I’ll tackle the bathrooms and kitchen tomorrow.

Sari there is no such thing as a sucky MMP OP. They just get hijacked so it doesn’t matter what the OP is.
I can’t hear the KABOOMs over here, it’s months until we get to blow stuff up
Day off today, and I’m having another go at clearing out stuff. It’s a slow process. I have some hoarder tendencies. Helping a friend move out last week has given me the bit of a kick I need, I think. That doesn’t mean I’m not procrastinating on the Dope though, of course…
Blurf Here is the secret. I have a grumpy neighbor who called the cops and told them he heard 8 gunshots. The police/sheriff dept. came running and spoke to the “shooters” and thus we had no more kabooms last night anyway. You are welcome.
Strange news of the day. A deputy stopped a car yesterday for a tag light being out and found in the car, with the two thugs from Miami, were three of our endangered Key Deer tied up but still alive. They are each facing 15 counts of fooling with those deer and those are not even the Federal charges which are pending. Speculation was they were not taking them for food but the reasoning was maybe black marketing…Also the ironicity of the story is the tag light was probably disabled by the deer thrashing around in the trunk.
butters, it sounds like karma bit those three in the ass.
I’m fixin’ to purtify and go get the oil changed in the car. After that, I need to pick up a couple of things at Michaels and BB&B (down the street from Toyota) before heading back home. I got a reminder from my PCP that I have an appointment Wednesday, so I went ahead and took that off too. Go me!
Swampy, you are referring to fireworks. KABOOMs is what Ruble does.
Someone(s) lit off, literally a couple hunert dollars worth last night at a party. One of those someones was me as I was asked if I wanted to light off one of the bigger boxes. Being the state we’re in, they were all ground sparkler types as that’s all that’s legal for residents to purchase. However, I was majorly impressed with how long some of them went on for.
Butters, so the moral is iffn one wants to stuff wild deer in a car, do so in a rear-engine vehicle so that the aminals can be placed in the front ‘boot’, that way, iffn they break out a light, they’ll have a real “deer-in-headlights” look to them.
Howdy Y’all! We have N.O.L.ed at Chipotle. The consensus is, been there, done that, ain’t got to again. It was OK but we have much better local Mexican type cuisine for a lot cheaper. Chipotle can go away.
Butters glad they caught the thugs. Hope they get put away for a very, very, very, long time.
I got a call from my dad last night telling me that my grandmother had just passed away. She was in a “post acute hospital” recovering from a few bad falls. I visited her the weekend before last and she seemed well on the road to recovery, so I wasn’t expecting the news. My dad and his two brothers are planning the services today so I’m waiting to hear about that.
My grandmother has also passed away this morning. She just celebrated her 90th birthday at the end of May. We had a couple of extra years with her, but she fell Saturday night and broke her hip. Hospice transferred her to the palliative care unit at the local hospital, so her pain was managed. From what I understand, she died peacefully, so that’s good. This wasn’t unexpected, and I’m glad she’s at peace, but I’ll miss her.
Older Sister just texted me and told me that Dad’s house is sold. Commence application of the SEP Field!
I’m working today and Wednesday as fill-in receptionists. Today I’m in North Tourist Trap and Wednesday I’ll be back at the dealership. Whole lot of sitting around babysitting phones. At least I’m getting paid for it.
I haven’t done much of anything today.
Life was much more productive Before the Internet.
Made a few phones calls of the business of the business type, and did a little online banking.
I’m glad they caught the low life SOBs Butters.

{{{Rockin’}}} I am so sorry for your loss. Your grandmother, family, and you ae in my thoughts and prayers.
We went out to the cee-mint pond for a bit but now we’re back inside. Heat index is around a hunnert out there. Also, I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can from the road to where it resides outside da cave. I did the same for my neighbor. Our cans sit side by side so I usually bring hers up as well.
Rockin and Rio So sorry for your losses. Sounds like they both had long lives. I lost my only Grandmother when I was about 5 so you were lucky in that sense.
