The Killing 4/1/12

I’m done too. It’s been awful this season and I just don’t care any more. The season finale did anger me a lot. If it didn’t, I might still keep it on in the background while I waited for Mad Men to come on, but now I’m actively rejecting it.

It no longer matters who the killer is. The dumb cops have so muddied the waters that even if they did find him, they would not be able to convict unless he confesses freely or they have video of him actually killing the girl.

We have a faked photograph and chain of evidence was broken on the backpack. Evidence was falsified on the backpack. Game over.

wow. I didn’t know the show was so widely disliked. I had problems with the season finale, but in spite of that I thought the first season was excellent. Each episode has been well written, and the acting impeccable. Well written from a relationship/mystery standpoint, if not from a police procedural one.

The last episode from season one made me incredibly wary about the show. It took me until last night to finally watch the season opener. I thought they did a good job of returning. They took away some of the sting of the finale, by layering on the mystery and conspiracy. I look forward to following along and finding out who did it. I didn’t know they announced a specific episode when the killer was going to be found. I’m glad. I’m happier in my ignorance.

Glad to see the consensus is that The Killing is a giant turd floating in the punch bowl. After the end of S1, I swore it off and decided not to return. Looks like that decision was the right one (unsurprisingly, because of course I am never wrong when it comes to matters of taste).

Just out of morbid curiosity, since I have made good on my vow not to watch any of it, and since the ratings reports I’ve seen are no more recent than the Season 2 premiere episode, does anybody still watch this show? Is it apt to get to a Season 3?

I watch it every Sunday night before Mad Men. I seem to be one of the few left that enjoys it. I am sure I miss errors and missteps because I am usually doing the “everyone make sure your teeth are brushed” stuff while watching but I like it. It’s very soap opera-y where at about the 50 minute mark I start to think “OK, so nothing super big happened tonight” and then right at the end something will happen that makes me have to tune in next week.

Perhaps if it were truly a better show then I wouldn’t relegate it to clean up duty time and set aside time to actually pay closer attention but I don’t actively hate it like many people who watched the first season.

I still watch and still enjoy it. It’s OK. It’s not as amazing as it wants to be, but it’s not as terrible as the backlash suggests. Just a slightly above average, occasionally too boring cop show.

I still watch and am thoroughly enjoying it - it’s more about what happens to all these people after the murder instead of a “whodunit?”

I just hope the reveal at the end of this season is worth the wait.

From what I understand, the killer will be revealed and there will be another murder, which will carry over into next season.
