Will you be watching the new season of "The Killing"?

It looks like Season 3 of The Killing will be airing before too long.

There was some heated discussion here at SDMB on the earlier seasons.

What are your plans for this new season?

Poll on the way.

I’ve had this in my Netflix instant queue for a while and have just never gotten around to start watching it. If I find it interesting, I suppose I’d watch the 3rd season.

No. I can’t even believe this got renewed!

No. I don’t trust the writers after all those red herrings and misdirection in the first season. What’s to keep them from doing it again? Bad behavior shouldn’t be rewarded.

My sentiments exactly. I’m happy to see I’m not alone in my disgust for the show’s executives and “creative staff.”

I like all the rain! It’s one of the few shows on TV where’s there’s real weather.

I found it amusing that in the renewal press release, AMC states unequivocally:

Of course, that doesn’t stop the writers from throwing in a bunch of stupid red herrings and subplots, but it’s funny to see AMC basically saying, “We really mean it this time! Honest!”

I’m still trying to find a way to watch season 2! It’s not on Netfix yet, or Hulu. Can’t watch season three until I get caught up.

I always wondered why it rained so much on the original CSI show, which is supposed to take place in the Las Vegas. I also like picking out obvious clues that it’s filmed in LA.

Same here. Who renewed this and why?

And my pet peeve is that it seems like every hour-long drama series introduced in the past five years has involved a multi-season storyline (or at least a storyline that takes the full season to resolve). Basically, it seems like everyone wants to repeat the success of Lost. But I don’t want to make that commitment again, so I’ve watched very few of the new series. I don’t think I’m the only one, and I suspect that’s why a lot of these shows have failed. Whatever happened to episodic drama series like CSI, Law & Order or ER?

This. In the second season I no longer cared who killed her.

Now it doesn’t matter who killed her. The behavior of the cops ensured that unless they have video tape of the guy killing her…he could not be convicted.

I just had to find the thread that followed the first season so as to get a refresher on how our attitudes toward the show diminished over time.

If you want a nostalgia jolt check out The Killing – new series on AMC which had 409 posts between 03-31-2011 and 04-01-2012.

I watched six episodes of the first season and decided that I had no interest in watching any more. Could somebody put it a spoiler for me 1) Did they solve who killed Rosie and 2) who was it?

Second season was better and tighter than the first. And I enjoyed both, so count me among those happy there’s a third one.

How they get there is pretty complicated and two seasons long, but ultimately her aunt did it.Even if you hated the journey, I think the reveal was pretty satisfying. The plot is debatable, but the acting is usually above average, I think. Especially the last episode.

I’m looking forward to it. I did think it meandered a bit last season, but it was so much better than most other stuff that was on TV. And I loved the first season, so yes, I’ll be watching season 3.

I watched season one because I stumbled upon it on Netflix. I am going to DVR season three with the hope that season two will come to Netflix soon.

There’s still procedurals. The Mentalist, Elementary, and Bones are the first ones I think of off the top of my head. Grey’s Anatomy has a lot of multi-episode arcs, but also a lot of episodic drama, just like I believe ER did.

I also wonder why it was renewed though. I thought that the ratings started high and steadily went downward.

Other. I’ve never seen it and don’t intend to start watching now given I’ve heard mostly bad things about the show.

Just for the record, at this point, as far as SDMB is concerned, the new season will have 50% for (or willing to try) and 50% against, with a dash of “other” for good measure:

Yes, I’m glad it’s back 7 26.92%
I’ll give it an episode or two 4 15.38%
No way – I hated it before 11 42.31%
Other – please explain 4 15.38%
