Awww, kitties finding harmony!
Kasya’s almost Buddy-size now, and still a rowdy kid, which does seem to annoy her middle-aged grump of a brother.
Something just occurred to me, after I finished apologizing to Buddy for coughing all over him while he was in my lap. The coughing was triggered by liquid going down the wrong pipe. So far as I’ve ever been aware, this never happens to cats. How do they manage that?
They hork up a hairball.
Usually on a rug.
I’ve known Buddy for over four years now, and so far as I’m aware, he’s never hacked up a hairball, and grooming himself (plus washing my hands/arms and occasionally giving Kasya a few licks) is his primary hobby.
You are a lucky human.
I think human throats are a bit oddly constructed, and this is a much more likely problem for us.It’s got to do with the position of the larynx, which makes it easier for us to talk, but increases the risk of aspirating food.
I know, I’ve had cats pretty much my whole life. ![]()
I haven’t known Kasya to hairball (yet) either. Both the others I’ve had during my married life did. Allie (RB) was pretty reasonable about it, but Felix (RB), who was a longhair, very likely would have been a medalist in the Hairball Olympics, both for size and distance of hurl.
